  1. He's now a small fish in a large pond with the amount of Billionaires in the Championship and the distorted price of keeping a Championship club afloat. He'll continue to back the managers as best he can and we know that we'll always have a football team as long as he's in charge. Would we be better with a super rich foreign owner in charge? Maybe, but attracting them to invest in a club situated in a run down area in the north east could be difficult. There's also no guarantee of success from extra investment, just look at the basket cases that some clubs have become: Forest, QPR, Birmin

  2. I am of the school that says that those accusing of letting us down are ingrates and have short memories. Gibson has spent millions over the years giving us a team and we are a top end champo/bottom end prem type club because of him not despite him IMO. It all well and good quoting other teams but there are reasons foreign/rich owners bought them and I also look enviously at the fact we are beaten to players by the likes of Reading/QPR but I think our current model is spot on. After all who is actually queuing up to buy us? We should be careful what we wish for as there but for the g

  4. EFL Cup Sponsored by Carabao First Round Middlesbrough vs Crewe Alexandra The Riverside Stadium Tuesday 13th August 2019, KO 19:45 It's the first round of the EFL Cup, a competition we won......ooh, ages ago, look! Pretty much since then we've lost to a lower league team in the first or second round or been beaten by a Premier League team in the Round of 16, apart from LAST SEASON when we went on an amazing run to the QUARTER FINALS where we were beaten by the mighty Burton Albion. Will history repeat itself? If so which version of history will we

  5. Could just make it a QR scanner and every ticket has a QR code. Shouldn't be a problem. My season ticket here in Denmark on my phone has a QR code and that's what I use. Mind you we have volounteers with handheld scanners instead of automatic turnstiles, but it should be the same.

  6. Just one no show this weekend. Some great scores and some high scoring draws. Welcome to Misterweed and Youngy228 who are not in the league fixtures at present but are warming up for the cup competition later in the season. ++++++++++ Beanflickingchampion 5v6 Essuuaitch Smogzilla 3v5 RAFSmog DZ 5v4 Smogsterking OldManGravz 3v4 Blanco Uwe 5v4 ChipBarrington Marvin 3v5 Trekkers Cyprusboro 5v6 Oslo_Syd SmogDane 0v4 Boro-unger Teacider 2v5 Maccarone MotorMouth 4v4 Nawoo bearsmog 4v4 DanFromDownSouth Barticus 3v6 Boro 86

  7. Looking forward to tomorrow night, enjoying the transformation in our team in what is a very short time. Hopefully we will see the new signings get a full game.

  8. I agree for the most part with this, what Steve Gibson has done for this football club can never be questioned, he's the reason we still have a football club. We have some fantastic years in the PL. There's no doubt Gibson has lost his way a bit and its not only down to the financial side of things but poor managerial decision making. it started with the season under Southgate which I still believe we've never totally recovered from. The last relegation season, Karanka goes and Agnew is put in charge, at least bring someone in with managerial experience in who may have given us a fighting

  11. There are two phases of the Steve Gibson era - 1986 to 2006, and everything since. In the first era, he saved the club, put it on the map, moved us to the Riverside and invested in a squad worthy of Europe. Even today, he loves the club, and he's a far better chairman than those charlatans up the A19. That said, since 2006, as the man who writes the cheques, he's made one bad decision after another after another. In terms of managerial appointments alone, we've had the untested Southgate who took us down, Strachan, Agnew, Monk, Pulis... Anyone who grieved when Pulis left clearly ha

  12. No doubt there should be criticism, but it needs to be tempered with realism. Unfortunately, because of our location in the country, it costs more to attract decent players. This puts the club either at a financial disadvantage or footballing disadvantage (in terms of the ability of the players we can attract for the same outlay as other clubs). In the past the financial disadvantage was acceptable because it brought periods of success, something I imagine Gibson was hoping to achieve when he threw money at Monk's purchases in an attempt at a quick return to the Premiership (as Newcastle ha

  13. He's written off 8 figure losses over the years and those losses unlike other clubs have not been millstones around our necks and are not to any prospective takeover he 100% 'cares'. My take on the 'is he looking to sell' has always been the same the richest man in the world could put down 80 million for MFC+Rockliffe and Gibson wouldn't sell I hate to break the 'we are a northern *ithole' myth that gets thrown around but both Sheffield clubs are owned by rich Asians I think Barnsley might even have a rich owner? There'd be interest in Boro but it'd take the prospective owners moving into the

  14. And yet there are people in the world willing to finance the likes of Bournemouth, Leicester, Watford etc. I think it's perhaps worth considering that one of the reasons it's a 'huge pit of burning cash' is because somebody sanctioned us spending more than we should have been.

  15. Why should we be at this level? We've spent the majority of our history in the top 2 divisions, why shouldn't we aim to do what the likes of Burnley and Brighton are doing? Both are similar resourced clubs to us. We've gone from the Premier league to Championship also rans in a couple of years and the club seem to have convinced some people that things are being well run behind the scenes.

  18. There's no one else in the world that would be willing to finance the huge pit of burning cash known as Middlesbrough football club. Everyone wants to point the finger and say someone is to blame, when in reality we're at the level we should be. You've only got to look down the road at our neighbours Newcastle and Sunderland for much worse owners.

  19. The tickets at the weekend were using a QR code I believe rather than a barcode like last year. So the scanners must be capable now just simply can't fit the phone in the slot... *Edit - Yep just checked the one I got for my Uncle and it was a QR Code.

  21. Ok so it is early doors of the Cup competition but MFC and the fans need a win so I hope we will treat this game in a proper way, do not want to be dumped out by a lower league team once again. Get the job done no matter what

  22. thought we were unlucky yesterday...on balance of play, deserved at least a draw, can't really express an opinion about first goal as too far away for my eyes....but strange that none of the goalmouth photographers seem to have a shot of the handball if it did occur....Fletch was onside for second goal but defence played to whistle.....thought Britt should have pulled ball back to unmarked player on edge of six-yard box instead of shooting when he hit post, but overall, encouraged and think that when things settle, we will be OK, not expecting great things, just entertainment and a better time

  24. Well talk about a day that had so much mixed emotions for a 6 year old lad attending his first Boro game. Whilst his dad waited to pay for the tickets I took Teddy into the club shop coming out £72.00 poorer for the experience but talk about a kid in a sweet shop he would have been happy with half the shop I believe. Then we went to the fans bar and he got interviewed by BBC Tees along with both of us (don't know if anyone heard me plugging the forum) he got a Football Manager 2019 game presented by MFC and of course cock a hoop. Inside things got better in his eyes because Ryan

  25. Right all, enough of the derailing in various ways. Things that have been posted/sent have been dealt with. Let's keep things on the game, respect opinions and not lower the tone or post potentially discriminatory things - no need on a football forum. Let's keep it civil and polite.
