  1. It's not Woodgate I'm worried about and this is coming from someone who didn't want him. Its Gibson and the clowns around him that worry me, they've shafted Woodgate good and proper in the transfer window.

  2. Personally I think it's a bit daft to be worried about Woody any more or less than anyone was before his appointment. I don't think there's enough evidence to prove he's going to be a good or bad appointment. I also think there are bigger problems at our club than the head coach and that he's taking far too much flak from the vocal minority for problems that ultimately aren't his fault. Listening to some of that radio phone-in yesterday after the game was dreadful, some of the messages they were getting in were just as bad. You pay your money into the club and you more than earn your opinion,

  3. I haven't voted because I don't know which one to pick. The squad isn't brilliant and very thin but that's not down to Woodgate. He's kinda been thrown in at the deep end when the club are struggling for money, which, without being disrespectful, is down to Gibson and co and their poor choices.

  4. Cant really say Ive lost any confidence in Woody. He hasn't really done anything I disagree with so far tactically and he isn't responsible for our lack of depth. He's TRYING to do the right things, though hes in a very difficult position.

  5. Agree with this. I also haven’t voted. Very unfair on Woodgate to have such a poll at this point.

  6. Two terrible points here. I mean, we should have had two penalties. Even if we'd have sneaked a goal in the end and won, people would still be saying that we should have had two penalties, because we should have had two penalties. So of course the fact that we didn't end up winning makes those margins more important, particularly after the two goals disallowed against Brentford. The reason people are talking about a transitional period is because it is. When Farke took over at Norwich, he lost 3 of his first 5, including a home defeat to the worst Sunderland team in 30 years. He took

  7. This is one of the biggest problems I've seen and it was a problem under Pulis - our midfield don't make the short runs to open up space - at least, they don't when they're under pressure and panicking a little. We saw in the second half they can do it, played some really nice small passing triangles, but they tend to just fall into bad habits very quickly. I think getting the Pulis stink off of our team is going to take a long time, and multiple transfer windows, but I'm hopeful with the few green shoots we see every game.

  8. Exactly! I don't think anyone is realistically expecting us to get promoted with this squad but we should all be sticking by him at this early stage, he has a very long and probably difficult road ahead of him as manager. It's sad to hear some people in the crowd are already on his back!

  9. It's my first chance to post since the game so apologies for the lateness. My main observation from the game is that the positions of McNair and Saville were really restrictive to our ability to pass effectively in the first half, especially after we fell apart after 20/25 minutes or so. They just weren't doing the job for the team that we needed. I think they're looking at pushing forward far too early which leaves our deeper lying core of Howson, Shotton, Ayala, Bola and Clayton short of a simple passing option and often led to trying to force a pass through to them or another attacker, and

  10. En route the play-off final, we lost 3 games of the first 5 under Karanka. All 3 were bottom half teams. I'm not expecting it, but I'd love something similar to happen this season.

  11. I still think we are pre transition. Farke brought in a new midfield that could lay the foundations for the rest of their rebuild. I think he added 5/6 players in his first summer. In the second summer I think they sold maddison but added another 5/6 including Pukki and Buendia. Woodgate has not been allowed to do it probably due to budget. Until we lose the high earners I personally think we are not going to change the current style substantially and will just tread water until we do.

  12. We are definitely trying to play higher up the pitch, which brings an element of high press anyway. Millwall were never going to let us press them too much with their style of play. As people have said though at times it has been pleasing to the eye and with any luck we could have had 5 or 6 more points which would take the pressure off completely. As you will know though, any form of press is just a way of getting the ball back, and I think this is where BillinghamBoros point is quite right. The same players as last year then have to create, which we are finding difficult due to their s

  13. Lets be fair Woodgate's been given a bum hand, and the style of football he's trying to play isn't going to be achieved overnight it most definitely is a work in progress. Instead of some of the idiots calling for his head already ( not talking about fans on here) I wish they'd give the bloody lad a chance, he at least deserves that.

  14. Fine margins in the first few games, threw away 2 points at Luton missing a penalty, 2 goals wrongly disallowed against Brentford, questionable penalty decision at Blackburn, clear penalty turned down against Millwall. We would have easily had 13 points if things had gone our way. Impressed at how much McNair, Fletcher and Johnson have improved under him, they have gone from nothing to key players this season and that is really encouraging to see

  16. Thats right. Even if it was the right thing to do every match the temperature yesterday would have had us blowing out of our ar** after 30 mins.

  17. Our problem has been that we just don't score goals, we've been amongst the lowest scorers in the championship both pre and post our 1 season recently in the PL. This season, although it's early on, seems to be going the same way. While Britt does get goals, he's not what you'd call prolific, we've been set up as a defensive team for a few years now through different managers and scoring has been an added bonus to not conceding goals.
