  1. It's time to smell the coffee, we don't have the players to play expansive football! If we're being pedantic 😉

  2. No it doesn’t DS. If the league was to finish today, we would not get relegated and SD would be correct

  3. I don't see anything unexpected in that article, though speaking as a journalist myself, the parroting of club propaganda is quite depressing. Nothing like objective journalism - I can imagine the email trail between Vickers and the club hierarchy: "Hey mate, I took out that sentence you weren't keen on. Can we publish this now, please? We're going to print in an hour, and if you can't approve this, we'll have to fill the space with that emergency backup article about Woody's haircuts over the years." What Vickers should have dived into was the recurring nature of this situation. M

  4. Just to let everyone know that the meeting went well and a vote will be taking place. They will let us know in due course. The voting comes from groups that are already members of the fans forum. The contents of the meeting will be published when I receive the minutes and I'll certainly share that with everyone. I think we contribute a lot the Boro community at large and there is more still we can be involved with. I argued for this passionately. However, I don't think we need to demand a place. Let our actions do the talking for us and lets continue to focus on being an great commu

  5. Exactly right, DurhamRed. I knew we had to cut corners and thin out the squad this season, but to give that responsibility to a complete novice was madness. And any comparisons to other rookie managerial appointments like McClaren and Karanka are disingenuous, because they learned their craft under Ferguson and Mourinho respectively. What opportunity has Woodgate had to prepare him for this massive challenge? Nothing. In at the deep end, with no lifevest. And as a result, we are sinking.

  6. Yes, and we also have the chance to kick start our season too. I'm just sick of all the negativity on this forum.

  7. We're 3 points of the bottom.. 3 points. Yes there were positives but you can't spin how *** we are. Steve Gibson this is on you.

  8. Season over. We're finished. All good these comments of "oh it was better though" but fact of the matter is we lost, that's the stat that counts. If Gibson cares about the club, he'd be looking for a new manager. Same problems not addressed. Absolutely miserable state of affairs how the club has just fell to pieces in the last 5 years

  9. To be fair this does feel really cruel. I genuinely believe we deserve something out of this game, so to still lose hurts.

  11. Yeah yeah .. you all think we suck .. which we might do .. I still love the Boro and I'm not even English... Every game I hope for something good and signs of things getting better .. And I will always do that .. I survived the dreadful *** since relegation and untill Karanka was appointed .. I watched and listened to every game possible then and I still do .. And I still enjoy it .. It's like a marriage .. You cannot just enjoy the goods and then give up when there is a bad time ... When things not go your way, one must try harder .. If you feed the misery, it will stay ...

  14. Well having read the article, its hard to argue against the need for the club to change its operating model to fit the current financial constraints. That said, I still find it hard to believe they couldn't find anyone better than Woodgate. It needn't have been a choice between him and someone like Jokanovic or Hughton. Why not have looked overseas again, if need be? When finances are tight, it helps massively to have an experienced manager, who know how to extract the maximum from what they have available. Its almost cruel to throw a rookie into this situation. You can argue th

  15. Guys due to our stuttering results so far this season I am afraid we have gone full circle in terms of M/D authors therefore if Boro do not beat WBA today then the Huddersfield away game on Wednesday is yours to do @SmogDane. @BearSmog if we do not get a win at Huddersfield then the home game against Fulham next Saturday is yours to do. We have gone through 13 match day authors and if there is any late volunteer who would like to try their luck then please say so as you can do the Huddersfield away game, if not Sonni we will need the Huddersfield thread up by Monday whether it is a s

  16. Middlesbrough v West Bromwich Albion Saturday - 3pm - Riverside Stadium. Good afternoon folks. Sorry for the late thread, it's been a bit of a weird couple of weeks. Let's jump right in with a bit of an update on where Saturday's two teams left off before the international break: The Form: Boro - Winning 1,drawing 2, and losing 3 in their last 6, Boro are currently languishing in 20th place in the Championship in Woody's first season in management. Scoring 11 and conceding 16 in their first 11 games of the season, the free flowing football that was promis

  19. I mean I'd argue that if you care enough to suggest a revolt, you should probably follow through with it. But we know from last season that it's all sensationalist talk which is why it makes me laugh hearing fans suggest it. You say it's apathy, well suggesting a revolt doesn't suggest apathy to me. If people want to call out Gibson properly, they need to organise and show him how they feel. I can pretty much guarantee that the essentially passive nature towards him will not change him or how he runs the club. If people are just happy to walk away and not care how the club acts going forw

  20. Improved performance but that didn't take much. Thought we looked better with wing backs but lets be honest, whoever attacks us is going to score goals against us. On paper apart from possibly Tav swapping for Fletch and Coulson for Marv then that was our strongest team and we still looked completely wide open and poor. F**k saying the season is about transition and change. What club goes into a season by lowering fans expectations by a ball is even kicked and I don't just mean by appointing Woodgate. Selling assets, asking for voluntary redundancy and trimming the academy

  21. Game 3 of the day. Albanian Super League match played behind closed doors due to recent fan trouble. We were allowed in as invited guests. KF Tirana v KF Laci. Tirana won 2-1. The beer flowed but alas nothing more substantial than a pack of oregano crisps. May of also had a little snooze in the first half!!!

  22. People who buy clubs seem to want it kept quiet that they’re looking, Gibson could have turned down multiple enquiries for all we know and most likely has. 2 ITK people have mentioned red bull having an interest in buying, if it’s true that they had reps at a game last season then it must have progressed at least past the initial stages to get to that point

  23. I don't think the club expected anything from Woodgate other than him being the fall guy while the club balance the books again.

  26. It's not the first game, where in a fair world we should have had something .. I think we deserves at least 5 points more than what we have this season .. The variance will even out and we will get points where we don't deserv'em... And my optimism stays on .. It's a bit harsh read on here sometimes .. But I don't mind .. Things will go well.. and we will NOT get relegated ..

  27. Football is a game of very fine marginals .. If we had won 2-1 and Johnstone didn't have a world class game .. All the mongers would have kept quiet .. Tough luck .. We will start getting points very soon .. I know some of you are with me here.. and if not .. then fine Iøll keep optimistic all by my self .. It was a good exciting game.. tough result but a good game .. 17 shots .. 7 on target .. That's like 5 games of last season combined .. We will collect points sooner or later .. Don't worry

  28. Cruel or not it’s more a picture of where we are as a team. We’re just that bad. I’m seeing so many similarities between us and that Sunderland team in the Netflix series. No matter how many fans are in denial we are a team that’s seriously staring relegation in the face. Overpriced players, incredibly poor recruitment, a manager seriously out of depth and a chairman gone awol. Shambles all around and it’s going to end in tears.

  30. I cant believe we didnt score there... So many opportunities and yet another Randolpesque save from Johnston... We could have score 3 at least today
    1 point
  31. Well those stats aren't right because Johnstone made saves on McNair and Britt. Savilles header I think is also tipped over by Johnstone, so we had 3 shots on target at least.

  35. Quite close from what I heard, but I deleted my comment because I received a further text so didn't know how accurate it was. We have trained with wing backs all international break and I have heard Clayton is getting dropped and Wing is playing further back. The issue is Saville - he may be getting brought back into the side after his international form so that would mean HOwson moving to full back instead of Dijksteel. The 2 line ups I was told were (like I say not sure how accurate now) Randz Fry ayala shotton howson

  36. I have to say this because for 2 weeks it as been doing my head in on Randolph getting praise for the world cup save he made at 1-1. I see his game differently to others obviously. Yes I admit once again he did do a fantastic save but only for him to become a calamity a minute or two later in allowing the opposition to score from a cross he had just created by punching the ball clear of the box to the opposition who then commenced to put in a ball to the far post and we all saw what happened then. You could say I suppose that was the fault of the players not moving out fast enough and yo

  37. I'm sad you feel that way Macca and I'm sure you're not alone there. All I can say as someone who feels much better this season than last is that if you can't feel good about the club as a whole (I don't really), try to disconnect from the club as run by Steve Gibson and focus on the team run by Woodgate. We've all had our say on the top end of the club, we're pretty much all unhappy with it but we do ourselves no good to dwell on that if we can't take any further action to change it. To some that will sound daft because they feel just as bad about Woodgate but I strongly believe that if

  39. It's the most official line to the club, MM. If the members of this forum can be represented in a meeting that leads as close to the top as you get as fans, I think it will be useful to be a part of that. It's not just so we can communicate with other fans.

It was also largely because Warnock understandably kept getting short term contracts. Last 8 games, then a 1 year deal, then another 1 year deal. The last one to have a contract extended that wasn't about to run out was Karanka in 2015.

29th March 1902 - Second division - Chesterfield at Linthorpe road The Boro promotion juggernaught just rolls on as we chase West Brom for that No1 promotion spot Our last defeat was way back, 21st December to be exact, since that loss we've gone 12 games unbeaten, including two spells winning 4 & 5 games on the bounce, following two consecutive draws Chesterfield were to pay for our lack of wins as we recorded our second highest league win with a convincing 7-1 thrashing With goals from, Robert Watson, William Wardrobe, a brace from Joe Cassidy & a treble from Alex Robertson, our 4th league hat trick, Robertson's 2nd Boro hat trick & our final hat trick at Linthorpe road before we moved across to Ayresome Park

Does anyone know if Fin Cartwright has been injured over the last few months? Law McCabe has made the bench quite a bit but not really seen Fin there. Wouldn’t mind taking a look at him at some point before the end of the season - maybe an incentive for him to sign on if he really is the real deal.
