  1. Need to look at overall cost, transfer and wages, the era they were purchased, the years service we got or didn't, as well as just pure ability and impact. Also how they impacted the other players and fans. I think Mido has to be up there, cost 6mill 12 years ago. For perspective Spurs paid 5mill for Bale that summer, and we sold Morrison to West Brom for 1.5mill His goal appearance shows promise 6 goals in 13 starts.....but of course, that was 6 goals in 2 1/2 years as our star CF. He played more games out on loan to West Ham and Wigan than for us. Had the most bizarr

  3. Desperate times lead to desperate measures! Its the return of the Magic Lamp! I urge everyone to give it a rub and wish for a Boro win, it worked before, it can work again!

  4. I think it would be more prudent of them to put an article in about drink driving. They could even have an interview with a few players who can confirm that it might not even have an effect on worklife. All you need to do is have someone to take the fall for you.

  5. You can cut the wage bill by getting rid of players. What worries me is that the people we have already have struggled to play well. When the big earners go, who the hell is gonna step up to the plate to replace them? The only people we will have are the people who have tried and failed already. Again, its poor recruitment. It legit makes me angry how far we've fallen from the good times of Karanka. I miss feeling happy and proud to be a boro fan. Instead I have to put up with people at work asking questions like, "What's happened to Boro then?" Urgh.

  7. I can just see it now...the Middlesbro Red Bulls... *shudders* Thats worse than the Hull chairman who wanted to change their name to the Hull City Tigers. Given the choice, I think I'd rather we were sponsored by Vaseline... 🤪

  8. Ash I think every Boro supporter deep down inside is grateful to the guy and if truth be known would certainly like the fella to stay at Boro and stay our Chairman and owner. But I would have to say he would have to change his mindset to change a lot of fans minds now after the mess he as created . No more allowing old pals to step into jobs at the club that needs football experienced men or women in those positions. No more buying players without asking managers do they want them. No more being a club that does not look to the future when putting a person in the managers p

  9. Would go with a nickname change if they were interested instead of the Boro we could change to the Red Bulls. Be buggered though if we were sold to some other company who is called something like "Always" and they wanted to change our nickname. 😟 Nawww that would never workout I can see the headlines in my head now.

  10. They're so salty at times it's unreal 😄 EDIT - I'm guessing they missed Take That playing at the Riverside?

  11. Ryan Shotton arsing about in a new Aston Martin can be the first go. I've heard billionaires are queuing up around the block to buy a money-pit football club with poor support in a poverty stricken area.

  12. Gibson has paid £64m to own the club. He bought the original £1m of shares from 86 at cost from ICI, S&N and Moskowitz. He injected £50m in 2012, £5m in 2014 and £8m in 2016 which allowed £63m of debt to be converted into this new equity. without that the Club would have folded. So Gibson has effectively bought the Club for £64m. This is what he has “put in”. Everything else is loans from his Group, which he owns 75% of, with Mike owning the rest. Some of that debt that Gibson had allowed to build to 2012 was external, some was internal to Gibson ONeill Group. T

  13. It's the Daily Mail, what else would you expect? 😄 Seriously though, this was to be expected. I'm just surprised the media have gotten hold of it. Morale at the club has got to be at an all time low.* *not as low as '86

  14. Great shouts! 2015 Was more annoying because it felt like we just needed that extra bit of quality to get us over the line and all we managed was tiendalli.

  15. Gestede looked a risky signing when we signed him in January 2017 so it's little wonder how badly the move has turned out. £6 million fee and probably £30k+ a week wages for three and a half years makes for scary thought. That January 2017 window was when things massively fell apart. We were pretty solid in most games but needed some creative spark adding to the team. Instead blown loads of money on awful and expensive signings like Gestede and Gueudiora. It was as if we had money burning a hole in our pocket and we just wanted to spend it despite us not particularly needing them players.

  16. Sorry, but I can't agree with this. The vast majority of Boro fans recognise Gibson is a fan first and foremost. He loves the club so much he - with help from others - saved it in 1986, and he's earned a reputation as a good chairman through decades of financial support and (until relatively recently) remarkable loyalty to his managers. His motives are to see MFC succeed, but not at any cost. Gibson hasn't destroyed the club, because MFC would still be in rude health if we were competing at the top end of the Championship playing good football, or even scrapping in the PL. But for too muc

  17. I was actually thinking the other day about whether we should try Gestede and Britt up front together. With almost zero creativity in the team it might have been an option to go route one and I think it would suit Britt's game to play off a target man. But to answer your question, yeah he's been an awful signing. I'd watched him a few times before we signed him and I knew he was never a Premier league player in a million years. To be fair to him the fact that he's a poor footballer, massively overpaid and permanently injured is not really his fault. I would question who thought 7m

  19. Got this from the MFC site - a handy away fans' guide to Derby County (3MB download)... https://www.mfc.co.uk/news/away-fan-guide-derby-county Their match day threads aren't a patch on ours... http://dcfc-craic.forumotion.net/t20354-jo-s-gts-v-middlesboro-h-november-2nd#329377 https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/33659-boro-h-match-thread/ Not much Boro bashing, as far as the team is concerned, but one forumite had a pop at our stadium 😮 😡 I fear another defeat just because we always struggle against Boro. We'll, on the pitch we do. In other news, t

  20. I wouldn't blame you if you'd already turned off, but McNair fired straight at the keeper from 12 yards in the 93rd minute.
