Ayala was identified by Mowbray and the loan signing went through at the time of his sacking, he definitely wasn't a Venus signing. Karanka was in charge when we signed him permanently but he had nothing to do with us identifying Ayala initially.
I was a big advocate for Maddison in the summer. I agree with you, I think Maddison would have more of an impact on our team. At the moment, I feel like we are missing a spark in the team (a creator). I strongly believe he could be that spark. Of course like every transfer there is inherent risk, but I feel that he would be low risk.
Neville Chapman......met him quite a few times during the seventies after he left football....a nice guy and proud of his little niche in Boro history......another one gone too soon
Thing is, we almost certainly will offer him less money. And I don't think based on what he's said that he'd outright deny just less than what he's on. But tackling the wage bill would appear to need more movement than that and actually, a significantly less wage. I wouldn't expect him to stay on those terms.
I'd say if the club really cares about wanting to keep him around, they need to approach it carefully, even if they are going to low-ball him to begin with, don't be a *** about it and expect him to say yes to anything because of a commitment to the club. Have a high boundary that yo
He seems to be more than happy here, obviously he's looked after his interest to be in a good position, probably enough money to keep himself, & his family secure & seems to be happy in his surrounding, we critisise players for been too greedy & not showing any loyalty to the club, Danial Ayala is showing it in abundance, which is admirable in this day & age, a player we should be keeping at the club at all costs
A great signing by Mark Venus, with all the hard work done by Tony Mowbray before been dismissed, he must be kept at all costs, long enough to earn a testimonia
Hackney hasn't been in the squad the last two games after making a fleeting appearance on the bench a couple of weeks ago. He's not ready to start a game. I think it'll be mcnair in for ayling like you say but I reckon vdb starts at right back like early on in the season. The rest will be unchanged but with greenwood in for silvera.
If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway.
I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and Engel - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trusting him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us)
Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or Gilbert there:
Dieng
Paddy VDB Clarke
Jones Howson O'Brien Engel
Silveria LL Azaz
