  1. If we can afford Hughton we can afford Karanka. I don't care about the dangers of nostalgia, just give me that beautiful man back.

  2. Long time lurker first time poster. 10 hour round trip is a bit much for the current offerings being served up will still make a few home games but more away ones. Glad to see Britt is fit gives some hope that we might find the back of the net. Would like to see a positive result and performance but much more likely be nervey 1 0 and hanging on at the end. Think Clayton is past his best but given injuries possibly best we can put out without throwing one of the youngsters in at the deep end. UTB

  5. One thing I gleamed from the report from the Palace game (give the post a read if you havent - interesting write up) is that our team came out with attacking intent, pressed high and blew Palace away. Kinda like how I thought Luton was going to go and how I thought the season would progress. The golden thread. The philosophy which would permeate through all age groups to ease continuation through the ranks. If we are going to dominate Charlton thats what we need to do. Get high up the pitch, force them into panicked clearances, then start the attack again. With our defensive fraility it feels

  8. So how much of that well backing got us promoted? Dimi (free) Nsue (free) gibson (academy) ayala (300k) friend (150k) Leadbitter (free) clayton (1mil) Stuani (2mil) ramirez (loan) adomah (1mil) Kike (2.5mil) Yes we spent big money on downing and Rhodes. Neither of which karanka cared about and neither of which were the difference between getting promoted or not. This retrospective bias against ak is purely media and gibson driven. He did a remarkable job.

  9. Everyone to their own, Karanka not for me, was well backed financially in the championship, different scenario this time, he was average, no better than that in my opinion and very petty in a lot of situations.

  10. There are a lot of short-term problems for us at the moment due to injuries and suspensions, but with the right manager in place like Hughton we should avoid relegation comfortably as we still have a lot of quality within our squad. We also have a January window coming up to patch up the areas of concern like at fullback and on the wings until the summer transfer window. Boro having to now operate sensibly and stopping wasting money is no reason for us to have no realistic expectations of a top 6 finish next season. We're losing loads of money because we've made terrible decisions in the

  11. Hughton would be top of the list for me. I think he held out hoping to get one of the Premier League jobs, but he seems to have just recently turned down the Watford job on a deal until the end of the season. Like any passionate football manager out of work, he'll be getting itchy feet desperate to get a new project. The Premier League jobs are looking unlikely at the moment so maybe he is willing to entertain the prospect of dropping into the Championship. He done a fantastic job at Brighton with some extremely shrewd signings and he build their promotion winning team over multiple transfer w

  19. 11th May 1985 Shrewsbury 0 Boro 2 One of Boro 's great escapes Final game of the season, Willie Maddrens 1st full season as our manager, we had slowly dragged ourselves clear of relegation & needed a point to guarantee survival 2 players sent off & 90 minutes later we were safe & able to fight another day, well safe first another 12 months when the sane venue sadky resulted in the opposite outcome

  25. I know the club have the gazette by the balls but oh my god. ‘It’s no use crying over spilled milk’. What a total lack of respect from the Gazette, no journalist can wash their hands with this degree of manipulation. Fans are frustrated with the ineptitude at the top of the club. Yes, the club seems to be trying to right those wrongs, but the same people remain in charge and have given fans little faith they have the knowledge to turn it around. As far as most fans are concerned, the milk continues to spill. This article rebuffs all the subsidiary concerns fans have whilst completely failing t

I very much doubt we got even close to half of £4 million for Crooks.

I think we got closer to 2m for crookes than 4m, I think them initial fee's that come out when he was rumoured to be off were well off the mark. sheff wed were suckers back then, they gave us our money back if not more for rhodes as well, just for giving them an extra half season to start the payments so they could manipulate the payment into a different season for ffp. no wonder they are in such a bad state these days with their owner, a good example of teams being mis-managed from the top and gambling everything into failed pushes then getting bored when the criticism comes in and not wanting to spend their money on it no more if its not making them popular.

Karamoko Dembélé - get him signed. Seems like he has a year or 2 on his contract with Brest; wonder how much he’d cost. Good stats at Blackpool this season and fits our model. I see he’s come through the England youth ranks with some top talent; just taking a different route to the top.

As @Bruce said. Cov already signed him in January but agreed he could remain at Peterborough for rest of season.

He's contracted to Coventry for a long time, surely. Don't see why they would be interested in selling to us without us paying way over the top. Chris Willock looks to be the obvious target for us but he's struggled to play a complete season the whole of his career and he seems to have stalled as a player over the last couple of years.  Could be that a change of club will re-energise him but there are warning flags. Then again, if there weren't warning flags, a Premier club might snap him up to see what happens. On the gripping hand, if Ipswich go up, I could see them taking a punt on him.
