This all comes down to the financial fair play 3 year window. The quicker we get the biggest earners out of the club the better long in the long run. Once you accept that we are not going up this season then we need to make this seasons wages as low as possible, and transfer +/- as high as possible, that gives us leverage for investment in a couple of seasons. The sooner we get wages out, the sooner those wages drop off the FFP window. By summer the transfer splurge and first season wages for Britt, Christie, Howson, Braithwaite, Randolph, Fletcher, Shotton and Johnson all become history.7 points

Why has nobody started a FFP details and specifics thread yet for the few who are interested 😶5 points

He’s going to play up front instead of Britt and @BoroMart and @wilsoncgp are going to play each side of him in a 343 set up4 points

Someone who can avoid the temptation to attempt to dribble every time he gets the ball and constantly lose possession in the process would do nicely.4 points

I don't think he has been pulling a sickie. My impression is that he has been fit for a while but the club have not been allowing him to play, in order to force him into agreeing a move away. In my view, it is a pretty poor way to treat a player who has given so much to the club.4 points

Someone mentioned Lyle Taylor earlier today and I honestly think he could be a good shout here you know. We were interested in the summer, he's turned down a new deal and they're actively shopping him now. Could be a good compliment to Fletch in a two up top. Have liked him from his Wimbledon days. Seems to put in the hard work, can finish and can score penalties.4 points

I’ve got a pal from Brum area and a lot of his Villa supporting mates saying word is that Britt is happening.4 points

Future news headlines! May 8th 2020 13 Championship clubs have had a 9 point deduction, which sees Boro skip into the top 6. Boro chairman Steve Gibson receives praise for his caretaking of FFP!4 points

So Randolph has actually managed to fail a medical with an injury that doesn't exist? 🤨3 points
-
Exactly. There appears to be an attempt to vilify Randolph when he has been 100% professional and dedicated to Boro. He would not be going anywhere if he was not being forced out the door due to the financial incompetence of the club. He has behaved in an exemplary manor when the vast majority would not have.3 points

Fletchers not a world beater, but he’s taken dogs abuse off a lot of boro fans in his time here and I’m personally pleased for the lad he’s started to slowly turn the tide. I would agree he’s looked clumsy on the ball a lot of his boro career, but his recent performances have been very good to be honest. Not just his goals, his general play too. I’m sure if Britt stays he’ll contribute and get some goals, but if you offered me anywhere between 7-9 mill for Britt in return for Sharp on loan, I’d say yes.3 points

We'd accept anything north of about £7m/7.5m for Assombalonga, wouldn't we?3 points
-
I'd be quoting silly money for Tav. Give them a price of say £50m+ to see how solid their interest is. We don't need to sell him at all so if anyone wants to buy they can pay WELL above market value imo3 points

That's an over simplification: Technical/Tactical: The first rule of goalkeeping is being in the right part of the goal to make the save, positioning is everything. He has shown excellent positioning thus far. He has shown decent technique in ensuring that he parries the ball away from goal. Physical: Seems to be a bit taller than his dad, and shown good strength under pressure, and quick feet, to move around his 6 yard. Nimble reflexes too. Psychological: This is one of the most impressive elements, he has been thrown in very young, but3 points

He'll double his tally to 60 goals from one side of that forward line.2 points

But yeh I agree with a few others. *** assombalonga and let's talk more about firture signings 😂2 points

You know how many goals he scored, call it pedantic if you like. I call it facts, he doesn't score 15 odd, he never has. 1 more than 15 is more than he has scored at this level. I guess the real question is why would someone with complete knowledge of the facts, add a vagueness to the facts? We both the know the answer is to exaggerate his goalscoring just a smidgen, to try and justify your prejudices in the face of overwhelming facts. If we have paid 3mill he would have been an ok signing, but I think he is still the most expensive CF ever signed by a championship club. By that sta2 points

He was 1 in 2 for forest in fairness to him, I’m convinced he must’ve lost a turn of pace after his bad injury for them cos I’d back Bernardo in a race to the ball with him to be honest since he’s been here. So yeah, I’ve got nothing against the bloke personally but I find some fans views that he’s irreplaceable as comical to be honest2 points

Fletcher has mostly played as a winger and has a large number of substitute appearances. I think he has 4 goals and 3 assists in 12 games as a CF this season. He would probably score around the same as Britt over a season at CF because he would go through some quiet spells. But at least he would create for others and hold the ball up in those games. Who should we buy, not sure, but we need someone that can play as a lone CF, hold the ball up and is mobile.2 points

Britt has scored twenty League goals once in his career (so has Rudy).....I think that the line that he would score if he was in a "better" team is stretching it a bit, he would be in a better team if somebody thought he was worth it, but to me if it's a choice between keeping Britt and offering better deals to Howson and Ayala, then most of us would go with the latter....but hope whatever happens is best for all parties2 points

You can't just pick what side you are gonna get goals in. If he put away half the chances he gets he would get over 25 a season. And yes you do need to be able to do simple stuff. What use is having a striker that can only "poach" It's like playing with 10 men if you are under the cosh. And most teams play with one striker. Therefore he needs to link up well with others. Which he dosnt because he hasn't got a 1st touch2 points

Shotton is actually injured but he is on his way out to either Wigan or Stoke. Randolph hasn't been injured and has been training since beginning of December - I posted but people laughed at the suggestion that Randolph would do such a thing. Like I posted the other night, I had been informed the club didn't want to sell Britt but going by speculation that may of changed by incoming targets fees. Heard tonight that we are going to be speaking to Burnley over the next few days regarding Gibbo. Clarke deal is still tied up due to a few loose ends but there was more talks afte2 points

I wonder if the club will sign another keeper if Randolph goes. We do have a rather outrageous crop of keepers coming out if the academy at the minute. I just wonder if the club would want a more experienced head in to help, whilst not necessarily being 1st choice. Aynsley Pears (obv) Zach Hemming Solomon Brynn Harry Flatters All definitely have good potential to become top keepers in the future.2 points

I would too, if he wasn't leaving, I'd make sure he knew he had to fight to get back into this team. And I don't think he'd be against that.2 points

Villa must be pretty desperate with Wesley out for the season. Not sure Britt is the answer to their problems... But snap their hand off for anything around £10m. Would it be fair to say Britt is second choice behind Fletcher now? I probably would.2 points

In terms of FFP Randolph is effectively an asset. It wouldn't show up as loss, but it is an expense on the accounts. Example: Randolph cost £5 Million in the 2017/18 season (year 1) and he signed a 4 year deal. Effectively on the day we brought him his Net Book value is £5 Million. Skip forward to the start of the 2018/19 season (year 2) his Net book value is now £3.75 Million. £1.25 Million has been taken off his value due to depreciation (amortisation). Why £1.25 Million, £5 Million (Randolph's value) is depreciated each year over the length of the contract so... £5 Milli1 point

He dosnt link up well at all. Its no coincidence that our best run has been while he's been injured. The amount of times he loses it or can't control a sime pass and our attacks break Down. At least fletcher can do the simple stuff and link up. I thi k he will go if we get a half decent offer like 7 million. It's like we're going through a transition period. Big earners leaving. Randolph, britt and gestede in the summer. If we can bring another striker in on half brits wages for around 5 million it will be excellent buissness1 point

If we sell Britt then the money will have to be reinvested that's for sure. Heard rumblings last week about Villa though got nothing concrete yet but seems as though it has legs..1 point

No loan I would think... that would be stupid on our behalf.1 point

In terms of Financial Fair Play it's a lot more artificial to avoid clubs being able to circumvent the rules IIRC so the entire monetary value of the contract is considered including money written off. In terms of FFP regulations let's say we bought Randolph for 4m on a 4 year contract, his transfer show up as a 1m a year loss on our accounts until the end of his 4 years. Then having sold him for 4m with a year left on the contract we'd then end up showing a 4m-1m = 3m profit on this years account for his sale (1m being the remaining liability of on his contract) . When it comes to t1 point

I think our attendance is calculated by asking Mark Page to pull a number out of a tombola. The stadium looked pretty chocca on Sunday, yet the attendance was announced as roughly 8,000 below capacity.1 point

I said all along that Carrick would commit to the Boro, I dont think he's done enough for a bigish PL club to take a gamble on him, not knocking MC one bit, im happy he's staying, if it's true, great business by the club, saying that if he has signed you would have thought it would have been made public though
