The fact he was ever even considered for the role is a terrifying peak behind the curtains of the club showing just how poorly we are being run. How could anyone with any semblance of football knowledge think he was the man to lead a scouting and recruitment department given his CV? He had literally no experience doing either of the things he was now in charge of.7 points

If Fletcher has taught me anything it’s not to write off a player too soon. Good luck to Browne, I still believe you can succeed with boro. Utb6 points

Not too keen though or he'll end up killing someone 😨4 points

Good, when he came I didn’t expect him to be heading our recruitment. Shocking appointment in hindsight considering his background is communications and logistics.4 points

I hope he gets it. Massive pad on the back and something that he could need to make another leap forward. I don’t believe in those curses anyway. 13 points from 6 games is no mean feat considering we were close to relegation and went to wba and pne and deserved all points.3 points

It’s common for the club now to throw someone disposable under the bus for recruitment mistakes. We done the same with Orta, but we then continued to make the same mistakes before Bevington arrived 18 months ago and still made the mistakes when he was here. There’s far more fundamental problems than just one man like Orta or Bevington.3 points

So looking very ominous with Clarke so perhaps Jones is backup to him. Sure Shotton is injured so possibly towards end of window it could happen. Villa wanted to loan Britt as they have FFP issues which we said no unless it was with a inflated obligation to buy fee. Randolph is still at West Ham so I'm still confident it will go through.3 points

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfer-news-djed-spence-middlebrough-jose-mourinho-a4330116.html Mourinho likes Spence and sees him as one for the future. Contrary to reports he has 18 months to run on his youth deal and Boro want to tie him down for 5 years.2 points

Just to clarify Bevington went and admitted he was out of his depth in that role and then SG made the decision.2 points

Hope this is not a case of "famous last words" His range of passing skills clearly evident in the recent game I watched. Massive game for both teams as one of them's momentum could take a dip. Keep Rooney quiet and 3 points coud be ours but I see a scoring draw as the outcome2 points

For *** sake, I'm blaming my maths teacher. He taught me values based on football league tables, where 24 has less value than 1. Are you telling me he's wrong? I'm starting to figure it all out now.2 points

< pedantry alert > Technically '<= 10' in whole numbers while talking places available in the championship would be a range of 1 to 10. Likewise '>= 16' would indicate 16 - 24. 😄 < /pedantry alert >2 points

Which academy graduate has impressed you the most this season? Coulson came out of nowhere this pre-season to look like we never needed to buy a new left-back. Spence came in in the time of need and looked more at home in the team than when I'd ever seen him before. Pears is showing steady improvement and has made some good saves in recent weeks. However, I'm going for Tav. I remember when he came in at Reading under Monk, I remember going to see the Sunderland game in which he scored and thinking he felt like a pretty bang average player. Last season, when he came into the team he w2 points

would be happy with a 2m loan fee, full wages and guaranteed 7-8m in the summer1 point
-
I think there's a difference between not going along with the idea that he's the worst player ever to pull on a Boro shirt and not being happy to sell him for £8-10m. I reckon everyone would be pretty happy if we got £10m for Assombalonga in this window, it'd be a few million more than what I think we'd take anyway.1 point

Probably just an experienced back-up, would cost next to nothing. Could be a decent keeper, only need to look at Dubravka at Newcastle and how he has turned out.1 point
-
Also says his contract's up in the summer they're hesitant to renew because of his wage expectations, he's made 80 appearances for Gallen over 3 years, he's 6 ft 5 but is he Leutwiler in disguise? Nominal fee I'd guess maybe a few hundred thousand on paper he's coming in as a backup to Pears it'll be interesting.1 point
-
Aye, glad to see him go back there given his current situation, shame it hasn't worked out here so far but there's still plenty of time yet. I hope he smashes it.1 point

If spending the whole of last season at Oxford didn't help Browne to get his temperament under control and refine his attitude, I'm not sure going back there for what's left of this season will make a dramatic difference. There's definitely a player in there, but based on his performances for us, I wouldn't be too sorry if he left permanently in the summer.1 point
-
I remember, because when he was appointed head of recruitment, I wrongly assumed that he was there to hire non-playing/coaching staff as he had no scouting experience whatsoever. You put me right on that and we had a right old grumble. crazy times!1 point

Tomlin is on fire this season. 4G 6A in 17GP. He's been phenomenal for Cardiff recently. Finally seems to be enjoying football again,1 point

Peacock Farrell: Don't really see what he offers that Pears doesn't apart from a bit more experience. My mates who support Leeds reckon he's got potential but they didn't feel confident with him between the sticks. I'd just stick with Pears for now to be honest. If he drops in form, Meijas is an okay backup and we can address that in Summer. Jagielka: He's 37 and has recently rejoined his boyhood club. I can't imagine he's champing at the bit to go out on loan for 6 months and is probably just enjoying being back around SU. Theres likely a lot better/fresher CBs we could get on loan.1 point

Born and raised in Derby (luckily to parents from Boro and Stockton) and I can confirm that For Goodness Sake isn't a classic Midlands remark. Now, calling someone Duck is a different kettle of fish.1 point

JFK scored against Ostrava........? (insert poor taste remark about shot from grassy knoll) about twenty years ago was in Bruges on holiday with wife and we got talking to another couple, when we said we were from Boro, he said one of the greatest memories he had was playing for Bishops Stortford at Ayresome and being sent back out after full time to hear the Holgate chanting the teams name and getting a standing ovation from the crowd....lovely fella and said that every time he comes across someone from here, he tries to show he still appreciates that.....and he said Festa was onside for1 point

Rooney is so slow now, limit the number of set pieces we give away, and a bit of mobility on the pitch and he shouldn't be a problem.1 point

Be careful what you say about Britt on here - anything negative and certain members seem to cry and claim to be his friends. I don't rate Britt at all but I don't believe we play to his strengths either. If we played Gestede alongside him, I believe you would see the best of Britt. Britt wastes a lot of energy with pointless runs which should be done by our full backs but that could be down to frustration as we often use him as a target man so he's not involved in the game as much. He's not a clinical finish so anything above £7 then we would be mad to turn it down. I wonde1 point

Doesn't really make sense when both Middlesbrough and Tottenham put out full strength sides. I agree they should just finish it on the day though, I think the League Cup semi-final should only be one game too.1 point

1) Djed.....because his arrival seems to have given the team (especially the defence) the balance we were missing early on 2) Wing...Mr. Potato Head doesn't need any more trophies 3) yes......Roberts ..then replace with Lucas if/when he tires 4) 8th, 9th or 10th....but that will be deemed a greater achievement than finishing 7th last year (don't know why that sounds familiar) 5) same starters unless injuries necessitate change..we have enough versatility to adjust during game if required 6) 2-0 ...if we can keep everyone on pitch...get the feeling, this match might1 point

I suspect the scoreline will be reversed when we play Spurs again. And I wonder if we'll ever see a Boro team with 11 UK players starting, let alone a team with three Dave/Davids in it. You know where you are with a player called Dave.1 point

You lot are determined to make this the lowest posted MDT of the season......................so far!! Anyway we owe it to the rest of the league to field our strongest possible starting 11 giving Hoppe the chance to strut his stuff😉
