  1. Bola, more than anyone suffered from a lack of left sided midfielder ahead of him. In most games he Litterally had no one available ahead of him and no one covering for him. The few times he did push on and force the play he showed quality. He needs experience, but there is a player in there.

  2. In hindsight yes, but tbh I was kind of happy. At the time we needed full backs and we bought a LB who was Blackpools player of the season. A young lad with time at Arsenals academy. Then we also bought a young right back who was a mainstay in a team that won promotion. And a very cheap young winger. Who knew that Coulson and spence would come in and almost made those exact spots their own. On top of that we kept important players like Randolph, Fry, Ayala, Wing, Tav and Britt. All in all I thought it was an OK window all things considered.

  4. beat all of those, Disallowed goal from gianluca festa in the FA cup final 97. tv showed loads of replays everyone baffled by what the ref blew for because nobody could see anything wrong. imo it was a very good example of match fixing.

  8. Picked this up from fmttm a very sad account and well, one which I can not recall. Worth a read though and thought all round. Copy and pasted from behind The Athletic paywall, for anyone interested On the walk to Ayresome Park, they found a penny lying on the pavement. Manchester United were in town. Middlesbrough were gearing up for their biggest crowd of the season and, when Irene Roxby picked up the coin, she turned to her husband, Norman, and their son, Colin, to say it might bring their team some luck. Perhaps you know the old saying about it being good fortune to

  9. Which academy graduate has impressed you the most this season? Spence has looked great, but I think the academy lads as a whole have impressed me the most. They're in the team based on talent and work ethic, not just because we need to fill a gap (even if that was how they got their foot in) Wayne Rooney or Lewis Wing, who wears their hair transplant better? I feel it's important to grow old with grace, or perhaps more importantly for a footballer, grow old with pace. WR has not done this. I look forward to seeing him jog around having little impact on the game.

  10. I was at that game and if I remember rightly, Bishop Stortford had a large, imposing bald CF called Lynden Lynch. I’m pretty sure he scored the equaliser. Grandstand did a feature on him on the morning of the match, I remember watching it and thinking that he was bound to score against us.

  14. reallly looking forward to this game. wozza has given them a lift on the pitch since he come into the team. but like someone stated they are pap at the back and one thing we can be certain of. we will test that backline at our place. Bit of a grudge match to should be a competetive game. not just another slow burner that never really lights up. like a lot of champo games. Which academy graduate has impressed you the most this season? We probs all agree all the lads have impressed except walker who isnt really ready yet. But because its Steve Pears son gone with Aynsley. I've bee

  18. I think if you’d have positioned it far, far less patronising it would have made sense? Genuinely. im not savvy on editing a reply etc, it’s an age thing! so it honestly just is a pain for me. I’ll take your comments on board though and try to restrict that going forward where possible.

  19. I still have a lot of faith in Bola to come good. I'm getting sick of repeating it but he needs to be coached defensively as he reminds me of when Friend joined us and he looked clueless at times and would make really rash decisions. Hopefully him and Browne do great in League One for the remainder of this season and come back improved players.

  22. Well, as you've repeatedly told everyone, he's not injured so there's really no reason for it not to go through 🤨

  23. He had plenty of free time while he was still playing in fairness. Might have spent it revising for just such a situation.

  24. Dangerous game. We can't afford to renew his contract and we'll be under pressure come summer.

  25. Ah yes, yes he did. I'm thinking maybe there was another he didn't get as he got a score of 17 and they surely didn't just ask an odd number of questions, that would be outrageous.

  26. Ad an obligation to buy for 8 million and we're talking. Yep totally agree; I think if they add an obligation to buy of anything 8m upwards we'll snap their hands off.

  29. The whole of the game against Newcastle when Graham 'fekcin' Poll was ref. I remember a red card for Schwarzer and a penna for a denying a clear opportunity....but then 10 mins later yellow card and pen for the same (if not more blatant) from Given. The extra man won in the end. Or maybe when Ronaldo dived over Schwarzer as Schwarzer pulled out of the challenge, it was made worse by the TV commentators stating that he was sent off for intent to foul.

  30. What I enjoyed most was Woody taking part in their 2 minute questions challenge about his own career and absolutely smashing it out the park, he was answering questions before they were asked.

  31. I mean we bought 2 guys in for just over a million combined, we've at least not spunked a load of money up the wall on them and there's still the possibility their loans are successful, juries out on Dijksteel could turn out to be a good signing. We sold what £12-15m and bought in £4m worth of players the squad was never going to get better I think most realised that by the predictions of midtable.

  33. I think there's a difference between not going along with the idea that he's the worst player ever to pull on a Boro shirt and not being happy to sell him for £8-10m. I reckon everyone would be pretty happy if we got £10m for Assombalonga in this window, it'd be a few million more than what I think we'd take anyway.

  38. Yep, exactly. Unfortunately I think a piece of information like that, if true, shows that Gibson has really lost touch in terms of the football side of things. He needs to take a step back from the footballing side of things and bring someone in who is experienced in these things to run it. Everyone still appreciates the money he puts in and what he has done for this club, but sadly I fear he is doing more harm than good by continuing to be involved in football decisions at the club.
