Also Woody confirms that the subs were more precautionary, both Roberts and Fry felt their hammy's getting tighter and tighter and tehy couldn't be risked being lost for lengthy times.5 points

Word of warning to anyone coming down, in case you come/leave this way, the road by the college is closed off at the T-junction next to Boho 5. They're currently making a through road from Windward Way to Lower Feversham Street. Means Priestman Road is probably going to be rammed tonight. It'll be fine for pedestrians walking, just in case you're driving. You'll be fine if you park on the other side of the college by the way but you might just be wary as there's a temporary 3-way traffic lights junction set up on Cleveland Street in front of Boho 4 which will slow the traffic onto t5 points

Enough of Shotton or whoever else's wage packets. Let's get down to transfer news... If we want to discuss wages then let's create another thread... #utfb4 points

His bench at that point was: Mejias, Reading, Wood, Liddle, Clayton, Gestede Bringing Gestede on that early almost certainly would end poorly, Clayton isn't an offensive substitution, Reading is a LB, Mejias a GK. So your options are Liddle or Wood, realistically. I get what you're saying and agree in theory, I just don't really see where an effective offensive substitution is with those options.3 points

I see this at concerts and festivals all the time - people actually watching the band on-stage through their phone screen while recording it. it does my head in. Take a picture, record a 30-second clip to send to your mates, and then watch the action that's happening in front of your eyes! I remember being at the Etihad once with a City-supporting friend, and a group of kids spent the entire second half swapping seats and taking selfies. Barely looked at the pitch. I can imagine them walking home saying "who won?" "Who won what?"3 points

I'm surprised people on here still don't realise he's far better than what we have now. And the best championship striker we've had for years. But hey.3 points

For those who are not subscribers, the gist of it is - Standard practice for clubs, including Boro, is to take the transfer fee, plus extras and write it off over length of contract. So Britt transfer fee at say £15m over 4 years would be £3.75m cost per year. Derby changed this in 2015 to say that “Players registrations are written down for impairment when the carrying value exceeds the amount recoverable through use or sale”. this bit in bold is what is written in their annual accounts. In practice what it means is they would value each player at a theoretical resale value. So at en3 points

Hang on, you're saying Bamford isn't worth as much as Britt? Based on what? If you only go off what Leeds paid for Bamford and what we paid for Britt then yeah, you're gonna come to that conclusion. But who were the winners in that scenario? I don't think Britt is worth £10m, Bamford probably isn't either but if it's an argument about who is worth more, who is the better player, who would be more difficult for a club to sign, Bamford wins that hands down.3 points

30 million pound public pricetag is about as firm as it gets as a stance from Woody on Fry and it's nice to hear him be that firm and bold on it to be honest big show of faith in Fry at the same time to set a Championship record price on his head publicly.2 points

you'd better write all this in a letter to the club, they probably haven't realised2 points

Thanks @Brunners. Just listened to it and just to add to your points. - asked about Gibson and said lets wait and see. It seems clear we want him. - asked if the 2 signings he expects are both defenders he said lets wait and see. - said fry not for sale unless someone offering £30m - britt back for blackburn. Shots and Friends to play in 2 reserves game. I elieve there are 2 games on Sun 2nd Feb and Fr 7th Feb. - was confident about fry and roberts. These 11 days should do both them world of good in terms of rexovery.2 points

Aye he was drafted in last minute. Clearly a bit out of his comfort zone bless him! 🤣2 points

Think you may see more intensity on incomings.... even if it's only a slight pull its usually 3weeks min for a hamstring. We are bare bones at the back. Miss McNair in midfield in my humble opinion2 points

Well that went from 0 to 100 real quick 😂 Good point in the end. Don’t get me started on the ref and the 4 MINUTES ADDED TIME?!? The standard of referees in this league really are bad though. Lose complete control of the game just like that. Concerning.2 points

Sounds like we got away with that one...a fortunate point. Missed a penalty, Brum having a goal chalked off, a crap ref and a generally underwhelming performance. Hope to god Woody knocks a few heads together (after he's given the poor lambs a few days off) and maybe makes them watch replays of the games during our winning streak...just to remind them how good they can be, when they put their minds to it. Should have been a win, but all things considered, a point isn't so bad.2 points

The ref was the poorest this season.. May his Ass itch and his arms be too short!!2 points

well I think we did actually, we did look pretty good untill we missed the penalty and both injuries. Then I think they tried to ride the game out second half, but that cost them2 points
-
Ahhh I think we deserved a point. Well done for coming back under difficult circumstances and very low on energy.2 points

I missed the 1st half, but we were thoroughly worth a point based on the second half. Our attacking play wasn't great but Birmingham were almost non existent until that final few minutes.2 points

If we sacked Karanka in January and hired Pearson he'd have kept us up I maintain it now as I maintained it then, history's different who knows where we'd be I'd that 1 change happened I believe it would have been significant for us. I'd suggest higher up myself. But we always treated Pearson as an afterthought when picking managers the most bizarre overlook we've made in recent years for me. His Leicester team was the best Championship side I've ever seen they were a machine even hiring Pearson after Monk but I guess the ships sailed on it all now.2 points

Stop it now Dan. You’ve already ruined the match day thread. Not this one as well 🙄 😂😂😂2 points

Great to see Nmecha and Roberts both starting. Seems like a very attacking lineup, hope we start off on the front foot and don't give Birmingham any space to play.2 points

I did it at a Muse gig when I was like 18/19. I was immediately put off by doing it because when I went through my videos, there was one full song and it was one I didn't like that much, that's why I managed to record the whole thing without stopping. And the sound and video quality was dreadful. Even with modern smartphones, surely it's just not something you're gonna go back and watch and nobody else wants to watch it unless someone falls over. I've definitely recorded a Leadbitter penalty from a... Boxing Day match? Possibly Forest at home? Michail Antonio at Forest, I seem to remember2 points

Bamford is by far the best striker I’ve seen here at this level, plus he’s the only striker we’ve had who’s been any good at the lone striker role. I don’t care what his record is at Leeds or what his whole career, we had enough time to evaluate him with our own eyes as a player and at this level there isn’t much better about, I’d have him back tomorrow never mind the summer.2 points

I'd love to give the Corey Taylor / Rob Halford treatment to the lot of them...absolute *** every single one. Its not just kids. You see it at major festivals too...including "grown-ups" who should know better. 🤬 This has been one of my major pet peeves for a while now and I'm just glad bands / artists are taking a stand against these idiots.2 points
-
If he wants to play 4-3-3 then 100% we do. Realistically all we need in this window is a CB and maybe a winger. It’s obvious certain areas of the team need reinforcing/improving but those sorts of deals can wait until the summer2 points

Change Etihad to Wembley and a group of kids to 90% of the people there and it reads the same 😡2 points

Fancy streaming it Wilson? Actually dont when I went to Forest away there was a fan who literally streamed all 90mins... its lost on me to be honest2 points

I think how much people rate Bamford is quite bizarre also. It certainly isn't a hands down decision between Britt and Bamford. In fact between the 2 their goalscoring records in the championship are remarkably similar. Bamford has 55 in 147 where Britt has 65 from 169, meaning Britts is marginally better. However, I know people are going to say for at least 15-20 of those games Bamford didn't play as a striker but Assombalonga played more under Pulis which is even more of a disadvantage. On a side note, I know Pulis and a number of his staff really didn't see eye to eye with Assombalonga2 points

I'm no lawyer or accountant or anything akin to that but this seems pretty important to me and in how I judge that, even should they be otherwise abiding by the laws, they are acting in a way to circumvent them to keep spending an unsustainable amount of money for an attempt at short-term advantage. The whole reason the rules exist is to stop clubs from doing that and it seems realistic to me to expect that even in the case where there is some loophole around the rules as they are written should be dealt with in the same way as they deal with people not abiding by the rules. The intent by2 points

Bamford won’t leave Leeds but he’s a far better player than Britt, no doubt whatsoever.2 points

The atmosphere is flat as a fart and I really don't think it's helping. This really has been one of those 'If it can go wrong, it will go wrong' nights. We're just lucky Birmingham are not very good. Great ball in for the goal aside, that is. But then we do just keep letting them have the run on us down the left side. Thoroughly blaming whoever is on the PA in place of Mark Page tonight, generated absolutely sod all in the build up. #FreeMarkPage1 point

You can get high quality iptv for around 60 quid and get all the epl and EFL games every week. I have a mfc streaming season ticket and watch the boro stream when I can and use iptv if needed.1 point

I said all along that Carrick would commit to the Boro, I dont think he's done enough for a bigish PL club to take a gamble on him, not knocking MC one bit, im happy he's staying, if it's true, great business by the club, saying that if he has signed you would have thought it would have been made public though
