He be a good signing but still abit unsure about signing loans when we are essentially safe mid table.4 points

I wouldn’t worry because it’s inspired some light hearted banter which is a good thing.3 points

Any player with a remotely foreigney sounding name will be deported and we'll get back to good old English football where we all just kick seven shades of **** out of each other in a muddy field. RULE BRITANNIA. LALALALALLALALALALA2 points

He did but by his own admission he is a CM who can play as a CB. And that is a view shared by most his managers bar Van Gaal. And also a view that imo is supported by his own performances. In fact if we were to play 3 at the back and only had 2 fit centre backs i would rather howson was the 3rd CB just so it meant Paddy playing in midfield.2 points

The squad 100% needs them. We've got a 17 year old CB, that's it. Friend and Shotton are a few weeks off being fit, and might get injured again immediately. Ayala is out for a month or more, Fry it's up in the air whether he's fit or not, I'd lean towards not. Shunting Howson and McNair in to CB doesn't mean they're CBs.2 points

Good player at this level but we will never progress as a club if we continue with loan signings which we will just loose at the end of the season. We aren’t going to make the playoffs and we aren’t going down, surely just play someone like Wood at CB. No point in giving someone else’s player game time just to finish mid table while our own players are sat on the bench.2 points

Then in 18 months time if they done the business and got Boro promoted we'll sign them permanently 😉2 points

I think the lack of rumours Is because we only want 2 more.. seems pretty common knowledge who one player is...if we only get that one in think we are stronger than we were at xmas2 points

Gibson has a good relationship with our manager, believes JW can get the best out of him again and has strong ties to the area. He is allegedly willing to take a pay cut for his personal happiness and peace of mind, in these days of mental health issues what is so hard to believe about someone just wanting to come home.2 points

I could be in a career with much greater prospects, financially and otherwise what most would consider more rewarding, than the career I'm in right now. I could have stayed in London doing a job I didn't find that interesting with people and money that was good that could have probably set me up nicely by now. But I'm not driven by those things. It sounds to me like Gibson isn't driven by wanting to just play at the highest level, he wants to do it with us and only us. I suspect if I was in his position, I'd feel exactly the same. Times can be up and down at your hometown club but it's yo2 points

once we have proper defenders we can play our best team. atm we are considerably weakened by ayala being out and paddy playing in defence. leaves us less creative and weaker at the back. begovic/fry ayala gibbo spence saville paddy tav coulson roberts fletch thats a better team by miles. we'll win quite a few with them on the pitch.1 point

At least the FA can make their own laws now not by the unelected bureaucrats of fifa and UEFA. We will also get back control of our Fishing so expect Jamie Pollock , Mark Fish and James Perch to thrive.1 point

And if any managers on the defeated side try to say anything about the game afterwards, the press will just shout: "YOU LOST, GET OVER IT!"1 point

Pulis and Allardyce are waiting for the 1st of February before eyeing a top 4 club.1 point

McNair played CB most of his career before 1 season at Sunderland, didn't he? I remember him debuting there for Man United.1 point

good players improve the young lads around them, better to loan them when the squad knees them if we can't afford to buy them1 point

The lack of any real info from other sources mean that even a source as Salty as the Daily Mail sparks interest, especially when it’s a player most have heard of and isn’t either from league 1, Scotland or related to Steve Gibson.1 point

I think it's because of the position as much as anything else. I'm pretty sure that SDS and Lurker have both said that they think we're looking to sign two central defenders this week. This would fit with that.1 point

I didn't like the way that he hugged Leo though, it felt to me like he didn't really mean it. You could see when he was smiling afterwards it was exactly the same as when he misses a chance and we know when he does that it's because he doesn't care. Therefore his hug was clearly fake 👎1 point

Lots of chat saying Gibbo had phase 1 of medical... I have asked but been told not agreed as far as source is aware1 point

In a perfect world if the No Shows had bothered to turn up and posted their predictions the league may well have looked different.1 point

Are people confusing Gibson with Shotton? They couldn't look much more different 😂1 point

I cant confirm that but he has been doing rehab at Rockcliffe and Burnley are aware1 point

Britt would need replacing but dont see him being sold. Wing wouldn't need replacing with the amount of midfielders we have.1 point

I am not in itk but i would pretty much guarantee players of that kind are not going without replacement coming in first.1 point

I was told from a good source that Ben Gibson was in the process of purchasing a property on Flatts Lane. Just passing the info on.1 point

well legend has it that Keegan convinced Lee Newcastle was closer to London than Boro, so I wouldn't dare argue with someone who would just love ....probably all a little before your time, but it was widely quoted as being true when it (allegedly) happened1 point

He's a Boro fan too, he'll have those rose tinted glasses on as well. But taking the question at face value, I think he's got far more chance of cementing a starting place here than he does at the top of the Championship Leeds or Fulham. Burnley have completely derailed his career, he needs to be playing games week in week out whatever the future holds for him.1 point

Its hilarious seeing all the anti-Dyche stuff. He's become a proper pantomine villain on here and I bet he doesn't give a stuff about us.1 point

Hackney hasn't been in the squad the last two games after making a fleeting appearance on the bench a couple of weeks ago. He's not ready to start a game. I think it'll be mcnair in for ayling like you say but I reckon vdb starts at right back like early on in the season. The rest will be unchanged but with greenwood in for silvera. -
That sounds perfect to me, thanks.

Teacider has stuck a thread up if you just want to take it easy and do the next one when you're feeling better? -
If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway. I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and Engel - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trusting him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us) Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or Gilbert there: Dieng Paddy VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Silveria LL Azaz
