  1. Boro will be hitting the road once again, in search of their first win since their 2-0 victory at Preston on New Year's Day...blimey that seems a long time ago now! A spirited, though ultimately fruitless, display against high-flying Brentford should give the visitors grounds for optimism and 3 points is a must after a run of results that has seen the club start to drop back down the table. Is it just me or is that 7-point cushion suddenly looking a lot less comfortable? LAST TIME OUT Brentford 3 - 2 Boro: A game of what ifs and if onlys. Having calmed down now, I'm willing

  3. Good read on the tactics from the Brentford game https://totalfootballanalysis.com/match-analysis/efl-championship-2019-20-brentford-vs-middlesbrough-tactical-analysis-tactics

  4. The 'freakish' win streak was only 4 games long and included 2 games where we were very poor but won anyway - Stoke and Huddersfield. If you look at our upturn in form, it was essentially beating Barnsley, Charlton, Stoke and Huddersfield at home. Much needed wins but wins against some of the few sides that are actually worse than we are. We drew a handful of games as well, which is pretty much what we've been doing lately, narrow away defeats at Fulham and Brentford aside. We played pretty well on Saturday, we played better in that game than we did in any of the four wins I mentioned

  5. Jones signed a 2yr deal in summer so if he down well on loan might need to tie him down to a longer deal in summer. He definitely could be the next breakthrough given he apparently possesses skills our squad lack. Also worth nothing that Ash Fletcher could be in to final 12 months of his deal by time summer comes round. I assume he signed a 4yr deal when he joined so he another one we need to tie him down. His contract situation been overshadowed by the other seniors players out of contract in summer n Britts situation.

  6. I think you're making a good point with regard to the 90 minutes, we only seem to play well in certain stages its never for a full game, its so inconsistent. Never seen the Brentford game but judging by the posts on here we gave a good account of ourselves, I attended the last 3 home games, thought we played well enough to beat Derby, but thought our midfield against both Birmingham and Blackburn were poor, gave too much possession away, too many stray passes and lost far too many 2nd balls. So unlucky against Derby, but definitely not against the other 2.

  7. We always seem to have close games at their place last time out a 0-0 so do not expect a feast of goals. Certainly a "must not lose" game but it has been a while since we have had a win and for me this is the place to start. Being shown on the rbf I believe

  8. Good idea but the flaw is that both are very young and lack consistency . I would try 4-4-2 and probably bring them both on in the latter stages and use that formation when the oppositions defenders are waning their speed could be a game changer but not one at a time both together and the oppo's defenders won't have time to adjust and will wonder wtf is hitting them. Just a thought.

  9. It's simple, the closest player to the opponent with the ball should close and press. The two closest opposing players must be marked. After that you can close the space. Watkins as only what 8-10 yards away from the winger? He should be marked and it's a basic error not to.

  11. Pears Spence Howson Moukoudi Fry Coulson Saville McNair Morrison Fletcher Assombalonga It's a must not lose game, or the relegation battle is well and truly back on. A win would settle a hell of a lot of nerves though.

  12. I dont see new GK getting a game as there no justification for him to get a game yet imo. Pears has done nothing wrong to date. I also do not see Woody dropping Paddy, Wing, Tav and Saville all in one swoop. He might take 1 or 2 out the side but i dont see all 4 going out in one go.

  13. We need to win on Tuesday. It's a huge game for both teams.'Arold looks a winmer to me. I'd love to see Morrison start. I also wonder if the new GK may get a game. Surely he will be on the bench at least soon. Pears Spence Harold Fry Coulson Howson Clayton Morrison Nmecha Britt Fletcher Not sure how to layout the team but I'd go with those players. A strong spine and some pace on the break. Other than one good game at Preston Rudy really has done nothing. He tries but there really is nothing there.

  14. Think of the greater good BD. It could elevate Danish football to a higher level. That in turn might elevate you as chief Danish scout for Boro and CT might finally accept Danish players as being viable for Boro 😂

  15. One thing I find a major irritant is the slack/ non existent marking we employ. We give teams oceans of time on the ball, free men to pass to - is there any wonder we get punished?! We should have shut up shop at 2-2 and taken a point - a very good point it would have been.

  16. Thought you were unlucky not to get a point out of the game and fair play you came to have a go and win.We have had plenty of sides who have just shut up shop and time waste so it was good to have an open game.Good to chat to your fans at the globe pub before the game despite the result hope you enjoyed your last visit to Griffin Park see you next time at the new stadium. All the best for the rest of the season

  17. Yes, we will win this one. Saville, Howson, Fletcher and Moukoudi were great v brentford. (happy now brunners? 😛 ) Moukoudi looks a class signing, loan only onfortunatly. Morrison should come on in the 2nd half Same as last time out Gestede is not as rubbish as everybody thinks .. He is a good plan B and brings some precense in the box.. Deffo not a starter, though ... And never a lone striker.

  18. i have decided to predict the outcome of our next 9 games which takes us up to the international break as when we lose I just want the next game to come quickly to improve my mood. Home games in caps Wigan - Draw (1-1) LUTON - Win (2-0) Barnsley - Draw (2-2) LEEDS - Lose (0-2. They slump cant continue forever and i think Bielsa will turn it around) FOREST - Draw (1-1) Charlton - Lose (0-1) SWANSEA - Win (1-0) Hull - Win (1-2) Stoke - Draw (1-1). Therefore out the 9 games I see 3 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses. A return of 13 points out of a p

  19. I'm the same. At the match I thought the ref gave us a free kick. Seen nothing in the replay to show the ball anywhere near the line.

Yeah been injured mate but he’s back now, just getting back to full fitness.  Couple young lads have travelled today. Not sure whether they’ll be on bench or just with the squad to get the experience.

No expectations or hope, going to watch it feeling like a neutral somewhat. A good game of football will suffice. Even with a positive run of results, it's too little too late.

I think that says a great deal of how fans are feeling now It's completely flat being a boro fan for many reasons this season and we have retreated so much from last seasons high I for one can't wait for the season to be over! Few more wins and  I am looking forward to see the likes of luke Woolston getting a few chances by the end of the season. I'm sure this MDT will pick up at the end of today's result 🤣

Cowans was a good player in a very good Villa side. Nicknamed Sid, I assume more to do with James than Vicious.
