Btw that article is a load of crap. If there are any Gazette journalists looking here then you should know that you are a complete disgrace to the trade "journalism". Sure you can write a pretty article but why don't you try to be critical once in a while. Articles like these proves without reasonable doubt that you are in the clubs pocket and it isn't pretty to watch. Never do you ask a single critical question, even at times when there is so much blatantly going wrong at the club and has been since january 2017. If it wasn't because it was Anthony Vickers name on that article I would have th8 points

There was an arrogance around the club in 09 and 17 that we'd make an immediate return to the Premier and I'm sure they'll be a similar feeling next season in league 1. I don't know how we can make an expectation when we'll be rebuilding the squad, we'll have a clown as a manager and a poorly run club. I think a long stay in the 3rd tier is just as likely.6 points

Staggering interview which says nothing that we didn't already know, just white noise presumably in an effort to deflect from Woodgate's incompetence in the short term in the hope that luck delivers a few wins somehow. Its been going pear shaped for well over a decade and now we have this latest directionless experiment going horribly wrong yet there seems to be a sense of denial of reality. Of course the problems go far deeper than Woodgate but at the minute he is doing an awful job with resources that are not as bad as he has managed to drag them down to. I wouldn't say Wing has been rubbish. Maybe not as good as he was last year, but he still ultimately is one of the only forward thinking players we seem to possess, you can see the thought behind his passes even if the execution isn't always there. He's been forced into playing a lot of roles that I don't personally think he's suited for. I wouldn't even say he's been terrible today, most of our good stuff today has had Wing involved at some point (apart from the stuff that is solely Coulson, who has been immense). What I'd be working on is Wings physical fitness and his ability to t4 points

The thing that annoys me the most is that not once is he asked what the problem is that we've learnt from/are going to learn from. That's not even a case of rocking the boat, that's just basic journalistic endeavour and curiosity. The fact something like that hasn't been asked shows for certain that this is a glorified club PR piece. Maybe Bevington wasn't completely removed from the club š¤4 points

Going from what Gibson says the only way that Woodgate is going to be sacked if there is a vicious fan backlash against Woodgate and Gibson at Boro games. He only done this interview to try to get the fans onside, especially ahead of tonight when the fans are very likely to turn on Woodgate. If the fans are vocal in their criticism tonight, it could force Gibson into a rethink as heāll then know he no longer is able to sell his repetitive idiocy to the Boro fans.4 points

I fear that the mistakes Gibson claims to have learned from aren't the same mistakes that I saw the club make, and continue to make. It's all well and good coming out and wittering on about learning from mistakes but we have shown literally no evidence that we actually have learned from them.4 points

For an intelligent guy like Gibson it blows my mind that heās impressed by Woodgate. He is inarticulate, full of cliches and contradictions. He comes across as pretty unintelligent and doesnāt represent the club well imo. Iāve never felt so disillusioned with the club4 points

A lot of the extra costs towards Jokanovic would have been brought in again through increased ticket sales and increased player values. We'll be lucky to get over 5 million for Britt after this season, and tbh I struggle to see any clubs showing serious interest in him at a price we can remotely accept. Woodgate is going to prove to be a very expensive gamble from Gibson. Not a huge financially as giving the job to Agnew in the Prem, but we are going to be royally ****** when we are relegated to league 1. Well done Steve Gibson. Standing ovation to your running of the clubš4 points

Shame that, I thought we played alright tonight although we ran out of steam. I'm possibly being unfair here but I thought McNair was at fault for both goals we conceded. I didn't think there was much to complain about regarding their equaliser, Grabban just holds him off really. It's an awkward one for Pears though, if it's a cross he just comes out and punches it clear, cleaning Grabban out in the process. The way that ball got to him meant he couldn't do anything about it and for some reason we didn't have a defender with their best striker š¤¦āāļø Coulson was bright, Gestede actually3 points

On their equaliser - if that was Grabban vs. A centre back, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. It doesn't suddenly become a foul just because it's a goalkeeper. It was a fair goal.3 points

I'm not defending the performance or Woodgate but me, you and about 99% of the board had us down to lose that game so I'd personally say yes it is a good point, obviously 3 would have been much better but I'll take a positive in this shower of S****!3 points

Pears did fantastic for the 2nd goal. Dont understand the grief Wing gets, 7 goals this season. Hayden Coulson has been superb, again. Worried about Clayton and McNair in the centre.3 points

Thats what pisses me off (and I suspect a lot of others) about that statement. Gibson repeatedly states that Boro are a big, Premier League club and that promotion is what everybody at the club is aiming at...yet nothing we've seen in the last few years even hints at that. I mean, there was the short-lived Garry Monk fiasco, where we blew a load of money, then got rid of him as soon as it looked like we weren't going to "smash the league" after all. He either couldn't, or didn't want to back Karanka after we got promoted. Were the club's finances really so bad that even Sky TV's3 points

I have always been of the belief that those who pay their money have he right to complain when things are not going so well and i fully respect that right. However, I would like the opportunity to put another side of the argument. The first game that I went to was in 1959 when, aged 5 my Dad took me to watch Boro vs Sunderland in an uninspiring 0-0 draw. From that moment on I was hooked and living literally across the road from Ayresome Park in Warwick Street I never missed a home game starting off in the boy's end and the Bob End I attended every home game until I left to join the army in 1973 points

The Gazette/Gibson article is nothing but a reaffirmation of the Gazettes' total failure to hold MFC to account, as has been the case for years. Toothless reporting, letting the Gibson and the club go unscathed once again. Truly embarrassing from Vickers etc, I doubt the paper will ever regain a reputation that is anything other than a genuine disgrace to journalism. Just another reason to feel totally disillusioned from the club, as seems to be the case with every boro fan. Shambles.3 points

Yeah, Gibson. He knee jerks between contrasting managers, and then weāre told to be patient with the manager as the squad is in transition. The only thing Gibson is good at is making excuses and avoiding scrutiny. Fans are starting to see through the media wall that he has created to protect himself from justified criticism. Him keeping Woodgate is the straw that broke the camels back.3 points

Yep. I've never heard CT use the phrase 'leather-lunged loyalists' when referring to our fans.3 points

Speaking of the Dark Side, I've just found this excellent translation of Gibson's recent statement:3 points

So Gibson is pretty much admitting that we need to rebuild this squad and most of the contracts won't be getting renewed but he's expecting those players who are leaving in the summer to keep us up? I think Gibson's reputation hangs on us staying up this season, he is clearly gambling on Woodgate (God know's why) and if that gamble doesn't pay off and we go down I think he's going to lose a lot of the fans. Its interesting to see him quote the other big clubs who have gone down to league 1 as if that makes it acceptable for us to do so. I said on here weeks ago that this will be the3 points

Still in total denial that he made a massive mistake in appointing a rookie manager who was never going to stand a chance in a season of survival / stabilisation. Throws all the previous managers, back to Southgate, under the bus, (bar Karanka), without acknowledging his own failings during their tenures. Says Boro are not a League 1 club, but in the next breath acknowledges a number of "big" clubs that went down to the 3rd tier. Lots of fine words Mr Gibson, but how about taking some action? Its all very well having "burning ambition", but you also need the business3 points

Thought Rudy did well tonight. Offered us something different. Won a lot of his aerial duels and created several chances for us. Bagged a goal as well. Not sure why he didnāt go for goal for the one in the second half though?2 points

Under Pulis or Karanka we wouldn't be anywhere near the bottom three.2 points

The moment we decide to sit deep, is the moment we lose most our games. We don't have the defensive capabilities to sit back and defend for 20/30 minutes. We need to play further up the pitch on the front foot. That's when we have looked at our best.2 points

It may seem premature but honestly I can see us getting to the play offs now.2 points

The good thing is Gibson is a quick learner its only taken him 10 years plus to realize we've made mistakes, if Woodgate and the players aren't the problem then I would cast a suspicious eye on the tea lady, or the kit man.2 points

After reading his missive to the Gazette, you should probably changed the thread title to Steve Gibson Out of his mind.2 points

Just read the Gibson article wow what a load of fantasy delusion soundbites he believes the fans will believe. I honestly believe season ticket sales are down and he wants to like try give them a boost.2 points

Like many of Boro fans I have been wanting Gibson to come and speak the truth and to a great extent in that interview he has which I appreciate. However, it just proves to me that Gibson is completely inadequate these days. He says 'we' have made mistakes when in actual fact it's him who has made mistakes. Not willing to act on Woodgate which shows shows everything on where we are as a club.2 points

Funny that they captioned the article saying Vickers had spoken to Gibson, yet Vickersā voice is entirely absent from anything Gibson said. Just a little paragraph to set up the next section of Gibsonās empty rhetoric. So transparently a platform for Gibson to spout some rubbish about endorsing Woodgate/reassuring fans he still gives a ***.2 points
