I think it was more the game at Anfield. We were relegated and our 2 1st choice keepers were leaving us. There was nothing to lose in that game so I think it was fair for Dimi to have been given the start in that game.
Definitely give him another chance. He had a difficult first half a season and didn’t seem to help himself when he did get a chance (getting sent off at Swansea the obvious example). But he came into a team a division higher than where he’d played most of his football, a team in a period of transition, and a team that was almost instantly drastically underperforming. He’s only 22 and in a more stable set up at Oxford (admittedly a league below) he seemed to be flourishing. Writing him off now would be unfair, he still has a great chance of stepping up to championship level - plus we’re not exa
I could be wrong, but I think the second yellow was so soft that the referee knew exactly what he was doing when he did it.
No chance he'd have given a yellow card for such a minor incident if he'd thought it was leading to a red card.
Very lucky considering Martinez got two yellows but got away with it due to the penalties not being regarded as the same game, which doesn't really make sense to me

Tonight, Aston Villa were lucky to beat Lille on penalties, who were much the better team on the night.
