  1. What a bloody mess. This season is everything wrong with this club encapsulated in 9 months. - Terribly Ran - Owner that refuses to accept any criticism - players on ridiculous inflated wages - players devoid of any creativity or talent - keeping hold of a manager who was clearly out of his depth - local media that are gagged I mean what more is there to say? Were an absolute shambles of a team. Every other team seems so well ran and professional yet were just sinking being ran like a Sunday league side. Gibson will get away with any criticism yet agai

  2. If we do go down, the club has to be taken to town for it. Absolutely has to be. We were in the Premier League 3 years ago. Now we're looking more and more likely to be in League One. Owner has to own up and accept responsibility because since Karanka left in the Prem to Warnock now, across those 6 managers is one constant and it's the way this club has been run throughout. The way we spend, the way we recruit, the way we view managers, the way we want to direct the football at this club is pathetic and right now we're getting our just desserts.

  3. I love how Boro fans on BBC Tees are saying that we should of stuck with Pulis. Comments like that just sum up our fans atm and how poor the club is getting run. Blinded fans that probably haven't been to a game since we got relegated. From giving zero hour contracts to all staff at the training ground, banning certain media outlets because they refuse to publish what Gibson wants them too, the club is a complete shambles and it's down to 1 man only and that's the 'messiah' Mr Gibson. It's nice to see that fans are finally seeing him for what he's worth. DOF is exactly what is

  5. Gibson sacked AK because he crapped himself when we went up and he realised how much it was going to cost to service a PL team. Gibson wanted to be relegated.

  6. A game closer to a gazette article talking about being one of the strongest teams financially in League 1 and a transfer war chest has been made available to get us out of League 1 at the first attempt.

  7. Im sure the club have an idea of where they want to get to, like they did last summer. That isn't a strategy though. I could say I want to run a marathon in 6 months but to do that I would need to put in place a number of steps to get from being a couch potato to a marathon runner. If I didn't know anything about training plans or nutrition I'd speak to some experts and learn how to do things better. With the Boro it seems that we want to do something different but we don't change the way we do things. Its like the couch potato wanting to run a marathon but still sitting

  8. Gibson sacked AK because he crapped himself when we went up and he realised how much it was going to cost to service a PL team. Gibson wanted to be relegated. That really doesn't make any sense. He also didn't sack Karanka because he demanded more investment. He sacked him cos results were *** and he seemed to be picking fights with anyone and everyone. He got away with that while we were winning but you're not getting away with it when you aren't.

  9. If the players donā€™t show passion and desire today to get 3 points then we are down. Itā€™s that simple. At Stoke we looked like we wanted to win and at Hull we just looked a wreck. Maybe the pressure of us being expected to win? QPR have nothing to play for and we are fighting for our survival. There is something wrong if QPR out battle us today. Am I confident we can do that? No. But my god I hope Iā€™m wrong!!

  12. The mistake in that thinking is losing touch with the growing % of our fan base for who there was no ā€˜beforeā€™. Personally I started going to boro games under mcclaren, I have no idea (other than what I read) and no connection with what happened and where we were before that. Think of the amount of supporters we have who are 20-25 some may have caught the europa league run, but most will only know championship football and premiership relegations. There are plenty of supporters now whoā€™s only experience of Gibsonā€™s boro is 90% failure.

  13. Appointing Woodgate was a big mistake but allowing him to stay in charge over the COVID pandemic shutdown and then sacking him after 1 match back is absolutely criminal.

  14. Steve Gibson thinks in sentences where other football men think in joined-up paragraphs. It probably never occurred to him that Pulis wouldn't want Monk's signings - he just thought "ooh, we're in a pickle here, Tony Parsimony will save the day." Our furious yo-yoing between diametrically opposed managerial styles is one of the biggest reasons we're staring into the abyss of League One now. No long-term vision, no overarching strategy, no club ethos, just a desperate pursuit of the latest counter-counter-revolution.

  15. Gibson leaked to the Gazette on background at least 3 different times this season that Woodgate is not at fault for our situation and while relegation is not something 'the club' want it is accepted that it's a possibility that was our supposed lord and saviour sticking his head 10 foot deep in Saltburn beach all because he gave the keys to a moron and somewhere along the line realised a 20% win percentage manager would likely take us down but gotta stick by him! Remember that when you get the woe is Gibson stories if we get relegated about how much money he's put in etc. Reality is we ar

  19. ā€œJonathan was the outstanding candidateā€. We knew then that Gibson was lying to us. He wanted to run the club cheaply for a couple of seasons and thought Middlesbrough FC were too big to go down. With so many players out of contract, kids being brought through with no experienced coaches guiding them, a manager too arrogant to accept help, this was inevitable. We could all see it. All apart from one man it seems.

  25. Interesting conversation I had tonight at football with someone who has contacts with someone at the club. Apparently championship chairmans have been informed of a development regarding Sheff Wednesday over the past couple of days and there is going to be an announcement next week. I am sure someone mentioned Warnock mentioned it today in some interview? So I would presume Gibson may have informed Warnock of the information of what the announcement is going to be. Points deduction for Sheff wed and Wigan maybe a saving grace for us.

  26. I think it's important to remember that even though Monk spent money that summer, we also gained a lot of revenue through player sales and saving on wages and parachute payments. I remember seeing the figures for that 1st season in the Championship and they were more or less even had we bounced back straight away. What crippled us was the following season when we didn't didn't go and only reached the play offs. People blame Monk for financially crippling us and I don't necessarily think that's true.

  29. I think if Gibson tried to bring Woodgate back there would be a complete breakdown in relations with the supporters. I just canā€™t believe it will happen. Point taken about no lack of effort. Warnock said the same. Itā€™s just so frustrating seeing players like Howson and Friend, the two leaders Warnock has talked about, shanking passes and making no impact at all. Feel utterly depressed.

  30. Woody back in charge next season too right, he's learned a lot from this experience, and showed how clever he is, brought League1 players into the championship so when we go down they'll be back to their real level therefore avoiding having to go into the transfer market clever Woody. I hope Robbie Keane's back with him what would we do without him coaching our strikers.

  34. What happened in the summer was an absolute disgrace. Woodgate with no experience next to him, a coaching set up clearly cobbled together at the last minute, no money, three D1 players signed and 7 players out of contract. Over the years weā€™ve seen teams doing the same as us all get relegated yet somehow Gibson thinks he knows best. Shambolic.

  40. If I'm to give anyone credit today, it's probably Britt. He's tried hard but the quality behind him is dreadful. That point where he's in the corner there and battled to keep the ball, turns and then there's nothing going on around him.

  42. Oh come off it, that's a lose lose situation for Stoj then. If he stayed on his line and Hugill got in and scored you same people will be sat here crying "why didn't he come out sooner" He's trying to be proactive, like the vast majority of goalkeepers do nowadays.

  47. haha I was giving him the benefit of the doubt with the other 2 but defiantly remember he told the press he wanted Diijksteel. Agreed with Monks and Pulis signings were terrible in the main with the help of Gill. I wonder under Mowbray who was scout and the guy making the signings because id argue in the last 10 years they have probably been our best signings on a budget with signings like Leadbitter, Friend (okay hes lost it now but we paid peenuts for 3 good seasons), Jutkiewicz (might get some abuse for this one), Adomah and Dimi. Id love to have them guys back at the club just

  48. I've heard some people say he mentioned all 3 of Bola, Browne and Dijksteel in his presentation/application. But that still doesn't change what he was left with or how the club has struggled to rid themselves of highly paid, average players that the previous 2-3 managers have left us with. The budget was what it was, no amount of complaining from Woodgate was gonna change that. Our inability to spend money well has been going on from before he was in charge, our crap recruitment practices are there for all to see. If there were better ways of spending that money, it certainly wasn't on Wo

  49. Fan groups do meet with the club, but I doubt Gibson is going to listen to them about how to run the football club. And I don't think it's the right way either. Fan groups can have some decent views on how to engage with the fans and make the whole matchday experience better and get closer to the fans on a day-to-day basis. Gibson shouldn't listen to who fans want as manager or how we should play. However he should arm himself with someone who actually knows the inside out of football. Instead of paying a player 30-40k in the championship he needs to go out and pay someone big bucks to w

They were already in the later stages of a cup that West ham won last season with a far worse team. We'd have been stupid not to put a hefty one in for that

he hasn't hit 10 starts for them this season according to wiki, and may or may not get past that number, so I doubt we will get any add ons from this season at all, they wouldnt be so easily obtainable and are likley items which are realistically only achievable after a few years of involvement and also probally based on the potential both villa and we thought we had here. his add ons won't be anything achievable in the first season, and wont be items that are based on their expected performance that can be achieved without him - such as qualify for championsleague - they wouldn't agree to that given they were 4th when signed him and getting there without him.Ā  epically given he is likely to end the season with possibly less than 10 starts for his team. if its based on the teams performance then no doubt he will have to play in a set % of them games for the add on to trigger a payment in our deal if team achievements are part of his add ons.Ā  so what they qualify or win wont matter, it will more to be done with his level of involvement and his performance levels, like number of games he plays for them, number of goals he gets (maybe in a season), international call ups hitting set numbers, achievements with him playing a set % of gamesĀ  not that they can't be easy to reach to add ons, but I doubt many teams agree to ones that are so easy to obtain, buying clubs are more likley to look at scenarios where if they are hit then they have a 30m/40m/50m+ asset on the books which if happen they are happy the deal worked out that way and will pay it. sadly we only seem to know what they are if they are achieved and a club decides to leak the news of the payment, which seems to mainly happen with sell on % more than add on payments. once in a while the add ons get leaked, like i'm sure Martial from man utd's were very public, and I think one of them was almost comical how ambioutious it was that it would happen as he had to be the best player in the world to achieve itĀ  Ā

CL Will probably give an add on but I doubt we have an add on for them winning a European competition as that would be a pretty far fetched add on and be too risky on our behalf. Iā€™d guess and say we have add ons for European qualifications of any kind.Ā
