I feel like I have to keep pointing this out- karanka got us from relegation to 12th in this first half season loaning only ayala. In his first full season he got us into the play off final spending less than 5mil. Stop underrating karanka everybody!6 points

Who do you think you are kidding Bristol City, If you think the match is won? We are the boys who will stop your little game. We are the boys who will make you think again. 'Cause who do you think you are kidding Bristol City, If you think old Boro's done? Marcus Brown went to Oxford town on the eight twenty-one, But he comes home in the summer and he's ready to score a ton. So who do you think you are kidding Bristol City, If you think old Boro's done?6 points

We do get people forward sometimes, maybe not as often as we could, mind. The likes of McNair and Saville missing chances are missing them because they are getting into the area to get those chances. The problem at the moment is that our game plan is based around getting the ball into the box as much as possible, and we aren't that good at it, nor do we have strikers who would be best suited to that kind of thing. Today we hit 27 crosses and 3 were successful apparently. Against Hull it was something like 3 out of 21. I haven't looked at the QPR stats but I bet it was very similar. If yo5 points

Please tell me what Wing offers? He's Middlesbrough's Mesut Ozil? A luxury player with limited ability. Yes he's got a good shot on him, but the game just constantly goes by him and it's like playing with 10 men with him.4 points

Controversial opinion alert: I don't think our young players are that good whatsoever. Coulson has a bit of pace but no defensive awareness and gets torn to pieces by any half decent winger. Spence can be ok on his day but seems a bit hit and miss sadly. Fry is a donkey in the back line. Tav is probably the brightest spark. Maybe I'm being overly critical but that's how I simply see it4 points

Hope that the occasion is suitably honoured with armbands and minute's silence (or applause) today........remember us getting criticised for being ultra-defensive after recording three 4-0 wins in a run of five games....then being called "boring" on MOTD when we scored twelve goals in last two games ...but that might have been because last game led to sacking of St Bobby..We scored fourteen more goals than anyone else in division and had a goal difference of +47....but still not enough for media to give the credit that team deserved4 points

Yeah I think we didnt replace adomah with a premier league upgrade (if only we had today's adama at that stage) in the system and it killed us. It meant we had to shift Gaston out wide and play a 433 instead of aitors preferred 4231. I think a lot is made of his falling out with people as well but I cant recall anyone actually coming out and confirming the problems and where they actually came from - youd think someone from the squad or coaching staff would have but it's been entirely positive anytime I see any of our players from then reference ak - ak even nominated gibson to do the ke3 points

Another way of looking at Karanka's success is considering the extent to which some of our players have declined since he left. Even allowing for age, the likes of Friend and Clayton are shadows of the players they were just a few seasons ago - in decision-making, leadership, tenacity and other things which can't be blamed on their legs going a bit. Karanka dragged career-best performances out of many of our players. That's one of the main reasons I'd have him back, especially after Woodgate has reduced half our squad to the worst form in their careers. Aitor - in the very, very unli3 points

He’s got 2 wins in 5 games. Woodgate got 2 in 13 before he went.3 points

I was mostly just GIF-responding to your Rip Torn quote. But I do think he offers something we don't otherwise have. He's not a Premier League quality player by any means, he's not clinical enough but I'll also say he's had to do a lot of the work sometimes to get into the good positions he's found himself in. His best chances today haven't but generally speaking, he's worked himself into good shooting positions entirely of his own means. Just can't finish for toffee at the moment. Mentioned before, when you have to do a lot of the work yourself, it's not entirely surprising that you3 points

I wouldn't mind Warnock at all. I like his enthusiasm and honesty. I don't see any reason why Gibson shouldn't say to him, 'We want you to be here but it is important to the club that youth have a pathway to the first team and are an important part of the future of the club'. He does talk about defenders defending. Yet our most effective outlets this year have been our wingbacks. Will Coulson get much of an opportunity next year? Will Spence be as effective in a 4? If they get pushed down the pecking order how will that fit in with the Golden thread stuff. I think with Warnocks ability and exp3 points

Karanka time has been and gone, I'm a big believer in once someone's left the club that's it, they very rarely have the same impact 2nd time around. Karanka was a decent manager nothing exceptional. He played a system in the PL that was never going to work, and when it didn't work he didn't know how to change it.2 points

If Karanka had remained in charge, we would be back in the Premier league by now I reckon.2 points

I blame the girl who leaked Gastons messages it all went wrong after that.2 points

That's not how I remember it I seem to remember our attacks as possession based and maybe overly patient, work it out wide and get crosses in We were good on the break as well Games like that play off semi final in 14/15 vs Brentford were easily some of the best football the club's seen the past decade We got it wrong in the prem but isn't it widely agreed that recruitment was the biggest problem for us2 points

We need to stop living in the past. Karanka is not coming back and some have short memories of his time here. Walking out on the club in a crucial season and failing in the PL. I suggest some go back and read the threads on how bad he was and we wanted him gone. We are what we are, low championship team who may or may not be relegated. We were lucky to get Warnock.2 points

Listen another poor performance full of our usual self destructing tendencies but with other results especially we need to lift our heads up and look to Reading if we beat them we could be almost safe with 2 games to go. We're lucky on one hand with other results but with the few games left we're inches from safety Warnock can't dwell on these losses we have to look to Reading it's an absolutely massive game.2 points

I genuinely struggle to name 3 players n our squad that are top half quality. We’re just riddled with poor players and ur league position suggests that. It’ll be other teams that keep us up if we are so lucky.2 points

They are decent with some good potential but we, as in the entire club, are having a really bad season.2 points

Disagree, you cant blame Warnock. Also, 2 wins in 5 games is far better than what we had before it. Warnock has quick fire games with a squad of useless players. When I think back to Woodgate's early interviews it makes my blood boil. ALMOST as bad as Agnew.2 points

And some fans...They thought he was better then Gibson. Fry is ok with the Milwall lump ball type games. Any team with the slightest bit of pace and quick passing he’s awful. He’s a donkey that is particularly *** in the air for someone who’s 6”3. Every clearance goes into row Z also, which irritates me no end.2 points

Apparently he is a £20+ million pound premier League defender in the making according to the gazette 😁2 points

David Cross was the player I think. His managerial era was some of the best times of my life. He was a real character and a gentleman. RIP2 points

Sadly, I watch the games with the sound down so I won't be able to hear you. I want to have as realistic a Riverside experience as possible so that means sitting in silence with an underlying seething rage and befuddled bemusement about what I'm being forced to watch. Also, and this point can't be stressed enough, you're weird.2 points

JACK SHOULD HAVE HAD HIS OWN THREAD. It's shocking hiding a legend and icon away in a poxy catch all Boro other news thread, RIP Jack. You led the club out of a long period of the 2nd division wilderness.2 points

This might be controversial, but I'd like to see us name a stand after Jack. I think that would be far more fitting for our history and heritage than the current N S E W designations. Not sure who we'd name the other three stands after, but a fan poll by MFC would probably come up with the right results.2 points

Whilst I normally get really excited about transfers, I can’t help but feel we are going to make mistakes of buying Warnock type players and make the same mistakes as Pulis did. When Pulis left we were left with players of “a certain mould” who either fit or didn’t fit in. Whilst I’m happy for Warnock to judge the characters of the players, if he isn’t managing next season, I hope he wouldn’t influence our recruitment of the players. It’s a fair enough point to say we don’t have an out an out central defender who can “defend”, but what if the new manager / coach wants his centre backs to bo2 points

Huge loss to us and football his impact on us still resonates today as the man who introduced the white band he truly immersed himself in the community visited almost every school in the area visited the big local shows and events never really saw his like again. Few managers ever 'got' Boro but from what you hear from older fans and read Jack Charlton definitely got us I'd give him a stand.2 points

We won last time I posted it so I’m repeating the same in hope. I originally wrote it because I feel for the club, my town and it hurts badly to see what we have become. I feel no shame in expressing my feelings in public and they will sway depending on the circumstances, subject and how I feel at the time of writing. I went to my first game around 9 yrs old I’m 63 this month. I would walk from South Bank and would often be lucky and get squeezes into the boys end. Progressed into the Holgate and traveled the width and breath of England and we even bought a red Transit for the games.2 points

All of our midfielders are gash basically. Going through the motions and no more. Whilst I dont think Marv is anything other than League One standard, he has been a winger all his career, as was Coulson. He is doing his best in a position that he has not played for pretty much all of his career. He was out of contract and allegedly foreign clubs were interested in him. He may be risking his next contract by getting injured for us so I thank him1 point

Think we need to roll the dice and take one of the midfield 3 off for Roberts. Maybe even two of the 3 off for Robert's and tav, though that could make us vulnerable on the counter1 point

Not even bothered. Season dead. We will lose, but it's all about recruitment for next season now. Bin loan players off if we have no intention of signing them. Give our own players a chance.

this pritty much nails it, don't need to go reiventing the wheel with it or but a modern twist . Shape, colours, perfect. Club and town Identity and history involved and looks dancing in my opinion. Ships or the transporter happy with either.

It probably goes against the grain for many but the Transporter Bridge isn't exactly iconic apart from an eight mile radius South, East and West of it. It's not even given a thought by people living to the North side of the Tees. Let's face it, it's usually under repair and out of order and even when "operational" neither practical nor functional. Being brutal, the Tees Flyover or even Newport Bridge are probably more recognised by people from outside of the area. Granted, it's old and quaint but other than that it's hardly the Tyne Bridge or Sydney Harbour Bridge which we built and I wouldn't want either of those on the badge. The Wilton Cooling towers are more instantly connected to Teesside by the rest of the Country and that (hopefully) isn't a consideration. If we do have to have something additional to the rampant Roary then let it be the ships which is a nod to our past and with the upcoming Freeport a nod to a hopefully successful future plus we know how supportive SG has been towards the Freeport. The Hogwarts badge coincides with the bleakest period at the Riverside and far from me being superstitious but it does seem more than a coincidence. Personally I'd prefer to revert to the badge which encompassed the most successful period in our 150 year history with just a subtle change of date. -
