  1. Don't ask me why it hasn't been announced yet (typical Boro I suppose), but Warnock agreed and signed contracts last week when his wife was down visiting and has now gone away for a few days. He's left Gibson with list of targets to pursue and the task to the sort out the contracts for his backroom staff. I have no idea when it will be announced, I was just informed 'shortly' but personally I would of hoped by the end of the week. Any other club when contracts were signed would announce it and then the manager would go on holiday.

  3. Not sure if this is the one you were on about, but I liked this one. The lad who did it has done a few concepts for other ones on his website (https://nickbuddesign.com/), the Hartlepool one is class.

  4. We’ve just found a pair of strikers who actually link fairly well together (and in Fletcher a young one with big upside), I really don’t want to take the gamble of trying to replace both in a short summer, and I don’t think the club will.

  6. 3am in the Gibson household Steve's sleep is interrupted by the need to answer the call of nature. He groggily rises and shuffles to his bathroom. A noise from downstairs brings him to a halt. Steves blood runs cold at the sound of broken glass. Someone is down there. Who? Why? How? He creeps down the staircase. Eyes scanning the darkness for signs of the intruder. Have they come to rob him? Has Mel Morris turned up for a fight to the death? Has Keith Lamb come to take back his fax machine? Steve's fear grows as he enters the dining room. He can feel a mysterious presence l

  9. Hmmm. He's not what I was hoping for but he is a good manager so c'est la vie. I'm sure you're still reading the forums so best of luck Neil 👍

  11. Who are Man City's leaders? Man Utd weren't particularly successful while Robson was there. Liverpool managed how many titles with Gerrard? Zero. Southgate won what in his career? A couple of League Cups? Were Chelsea successful because Terry was a leader or because they spent a Billion quid on some of the best players in the world? England couldn't get near winning anything with Terry, Gerrard, Ferdinand etc and yet they would be regarded as natural leaders. It's a massively overblown concept. We weren't struggling this season because we lacked leadership on the field. It

  14. @ManBearPig. Luke Freeman a great shout. Dont think he got a look in at Sheff Utd and dont think he will next season as they targer bettee players. Jota at Villa another we could possibly look at. Also not got much game time there this season.

  17. I think it's a sensible appointment given the circumstances. Our first competitive game of next season is less than seven weeks away. Trying to find a new manager, rebuild the squad and implement a new playing style (which seem to be the three things people were wanting) would have been unrealistic in the time available. I think Warnock will be able to stabilise us - we were in freefall before he came. I am not expecting us to be challenging for promotion next season (Cardiff had much better foundations when Warnock took over there) but I also don't expect us to still be fighting for surviv

  18. I'd expect a few signings over the next few days now. Hopefully we can hit the ground running. I like the idea of Warnock pitching up at Gibbo's gaff uninvited and laying down the law to him. In my head that's what happened.

  19. Also, the talk of promotion bid has to stop. We just survived relegation and we have no idea what resources we have to rebuild a decimated squad. We don't even know what the club wants to achieve next season yet so let's just see what happens or the bar is going to be set impossibly high again.

  20. Very interested to see what he does think if he makes some moves and offloads a couple of players for decent money he could have us right up there if he hits the 60+ goals mark he's solved a long running problem and the fans will love him just for that if he brings in the points his record in this division suggests he could easily bag us 70+ points over next season. Best of luck Neil since you're probably scanning the messageboards again!

  24. Ederson, Walker, De Bruyne and Mendy are their current leaders. Before that it was Kompany and Yaya Toure. Steven Gerrard was instrumental in them winning the 2005 Champions League final purely down to his leadership Cant actually believe that you believe what your posting. I made a lengthy post regarding what I think leadership is and it’s not alway the shouty Roy Keane type there’s loadsa different styles and having some leaders is absolutely necessary imo

  25. Instead of it being either good players or leaders, it could be good players and leaders, alongside good management and a whole other host of factors. Leaders don’t guarantee success, nor does having talented players. But leadership is one piece of a much larger puzzle. A piece we are currently lacking by all accounts.

  27. Completely agree. We need someone who is willing to scream at their team mates who is not doing as instructed but is also a constant 8/10 performer every week (like Grant Leadbitter).

  28. I think we need some good footballers who are also leaders. I can't think of a successful team that didn't have at least one leader in the camp. Gerrard, Terry, Ince, Robson, Keane, Southgate. Doesn't always have to be shouty but they first and foremost need to be good footballers.

  33. I’ll be interested to see how Britt does if he stays. Our highest goal scorer since Viduka, at least 10 goals a season yet I don’t think he’s ever really been played to his strengths/been full of confidence. I feel for him a bit really. Bought by Monk and did well under him, then Pulis came in and clearly wanted rid. It was no secret he wanted to sell him and he criticised him most weeks - even when he scored there was a dig in there. Woodgate tried to boost his confidence with “he’s my number 9” support but that didn’t work too well either - and we know how poor that team was.

  34. I want to see us invest some money into creativity this time round. Tomlin or Ramirez were our last out and out creative links in the team and I think that’s when we had some real successes. Tav I think can get there in the future, but we need ready made quality now. For all the possession we had last season, the link between Midfield and the attack was one which was missing the most. If we give Britt and Fletcher some reliable service, we will be better off for sure. My top 3 list would be... Luke Freeman. Bradley Dack. Lee Tomlin. Probably have to spend to get

  36. So the 3 teams that went up the year we suffered play off heartache in 2015 are the 3 teams coming down next season in Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich. I personally do not see a stand out team in championship next season, especially with the quick turnaround. Maybe Norwich If Howe leaves Bournemouth then they got to accept there might be ups and downs given Howe been there a very long time so change might take time to have a positive effect. Watford, well who knows. They become somewhat of a circus act in this last year and that club seems in a bit mess which might take more th

  37. I dont really get criticising a manager for free transfer at a time we barely had a penny to scratch our a*se with. I might be wrong but did Mogga waste a penny. Some of his freebies did not work out but they came with little or no expectation and were signed purely to fill in gaps when we were skint. Mogga can never be criticised for his signings imo. I would love the guy to head up our recruitment the day he calls its quits in management. He unearthed gems whichever club he been at. As far as Warnock is concerned he got more right than wrong at Cardiff. The one he got wrong was Madine

  38. I also remember Besic as a ticking time bomb... Few glimpses of something good, but he always lost the ball, when he had had about 5 team mates to pass it to. And then those damn free kicks in dangerous areas .. I remember him getting sent off too, totally reckless .. And the opponent scored from the free kick ..

  39. I think the PL players mentioned in this post as leaders all have one thing in common they where all outstanding footballers, but they also had good players around them, so CT makes an excellent point. Can you win games with no leader and good players absolutely, can you win matches with a leader on the pitch and poor players very unlikely. The point can be made about leadership but its good players who win you games that's why Liverpool are champions because of the superb quality in the squad.

  40. I definitely think leaders are needed it's what drives a team to hold on to a lead or push for a needed goal you watch our defence last season it's every man for himself stuff you have Friend trying to keep track of everything when he's in there but he needs to worry about himself these days he's hardly a commanding presence isn't the entire reasoning around this supposed new contract offer because of his experience and leadership? Give me someone fresher with captain experience like Gunter on a similar wage over resigning Friend as a makeshift CB and face around the training ground. In m

  43. its not about who is the manager and individuals at the end of the day. our priorities are to gel together two sucessful and competent units within the squad , a defensive unit and a midfield unit. if we do this that takes care of 8 of the 11 for the teamsheet. from there we can see which strikers we can plop up front that hopefully can manage a good goal/game ratio, id like a sound keeper too that communicates well and is happy collecting crosses. coaching staff are vital to put in place in our current position.. re that midfield unit i hear lots of cries for a couple of wingers or numbe

Hackney hasn't been in the squad the last two games after making a fleeting appearance on the bench a couple of weeks ago. He's not ready to start a game. I think it'll be mcnair in for ayling like you say but I reckon vdb starts at right back like early on in the season. The rest will be unchanged but with greenwood in for silvera.

If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway. I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and Engel - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trusting him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us) Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or Gilbert there: Dieng Paddy VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Silveria LL Azaz
