  1. If we were sacking Karanka to replace him with no one and just accept relegation we should have just stuck with Karanka for the championship, I think we'd have bounce straight back up -------------------Bamford Traore----------Fischer-------------Stuani ----------Clayton--------Forshaw Friend-----Gibbo-----Ayala--------Fabio ----------------------Dimi Could've had that team without spending a penny and a manager that got play off final and automatic promotion in his only 2 full seasons in the championship Unforgivable decision making from January 2017 onwards

  2. Absolutely shameless plug for the airport in that article! "The Boro boss has now jetted off to his Cornwall base from Teesside International Airport, taking full advantage of the new service to Newquay" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  3. Can I just say how embarrassing the gazette is and that honestly people should take what they read as a pinch of salt : 17.37 Yesterday - They wrote an article stating nothing had been agreed and Warnock was pondering his offer with a decision due end of the week. 21.00 Yesterday - They wrote an article stating that Warnock shook hands with Gibson after Thursdays meeting and agreed a 1year contract, leaving Gibson with a list of targets and other bits and pieces and announcement due early next week. Just over 4hrs between articles and they completely did U-TURN 😂😂. I'm not

  4. I said on Twitter today the same thing I'll say here: For the first time in probably about 8/9 years, since Mowbray's team, I don't really mind who we lose, and it's actually quite refreshing. Too often I've gone into the transfer windows worried that if we lost a player, we'd either not replace them, or replace them badly. This has been the case with Gibson, Traore, Randolph, Stuani, Ramirez... the list goes on. Absolutely right. But so many of our players have underperformed recently that I am quite relaxed about losing any of them (for the right money, obviously). Of course, it woul

  5. Stuani's goal against Sunderland in the PL was a thing of beauty. It was only beaten for me that season by Ramirez's box-to-box slalom against Bournemouth. I agree, Stuani would have been far more productive in his preferred position. To think we shipped him out and brought Gestede in...

  6. I think the great thing about Warnocks appointment is that Warnock commands respect from Gibson and the scouting team. I think this is a direct contrast to Woodgate, who I think would have been fobbed off at times. I’m excited to see who he brings in.

  7. We need players and I’ll be doing my best over the next few weeks to get the right ones,” he said. “Neil Bausor is helping as well, we’re all singing from the same hymn sheet really in terms of improving the squad. There might have to be sales as well but you don’t know what’s around the corner regarding that. “It’s important that it’s a lot more structured squad than it has been and there are more options, especially defensive wise. “We’re trying to change the squad around, and we need a bit of luck because you need the new lads to settle quickly.

  10. I'd hate us to sell any of the younger players this season. For me I want our team to be built around Coulson, Spence, Fry, Tav and Fletcher. Let's add the experienced players to these by selling any of the others

  11. Oh boy, I still cannot fathom we didn't play Stuani as a striker .. He would have had at least 15 .. a season .. He had his share from a right wing, which was a square peg in a round hole .. He has scored SEVENTY goals in 103 games for Girona since he left us ..

  12. I find this board a real pleasure when compared to other sites. Largely because, although there are a variety opinions, people do not seem to slag off others for their differing views and long may this happen. It does not take much to destroy a good vibe,

  17. You want to get rid of Britt and Fletch for free? Those strikers who have grabbed 8 goals between them in Warnock's 8 games? I feel like I have to mention this any time someone mentions saving money for the sake of it but you do recognise how terrible our recruitment has been for years, right? We can save but don't just save for the sake of it when we have players who can do the job right now.

  18. It's only a dig because of the complete U-Turn like they did last summer with the Woodgate appointment and stories reference Pulis. People take gospel what the gazette writes and this just highlights once again why I don't think they should because they always write misinformed opinion stories. My point is that they won't of been told any information on Friday so decided to publish an opinion based article which was completely wrong and decided to do a U-turn 4hrs later. If they had the same information as me and lurker on friday they wouldn't of initially published a complete

  20. 3am in the Gibson household Steve's sleep is interrupted by the need to answer the call of nature. He groggily rises and shuffles to his bathroom. A noise from downstairs brings him to a halt. Steves blood runs cold at the sound of broken glass. Someone is down there. Who? Why? How? He creeps down the staircase. Eyes scanning the darkness for signs of the intruder. Have they come to rob him? Has Mel Morris turned up for a fight to the death? Has Keith Lamb come to take back his fax machine? Steve's fear grows as he enters the dining room. He can feel a mysterious presence l

  23. The Gazette are a professional news organisation, while diggerlad, like the rest of us, is just some daft bugger on the internet. In this case trying to make himself look good at the Gazette's expense 🙄 The Gazette didn't do a complete U-turn. A complete U-turn would be them saying that Warnock wasn't getting the job and then saying that he had it. The question is, if the deal was agreed last week then why did the club, not the Gazette, want to wait to announce it? I assume the reason was to give Warnock his week's holiday and then have him back up here for the announcement and press conf

  24. Unless Gibson's training has shown, that he still got what it takes, I would look else where and keep those nice Burnley money coming in installments! If he is homesick and will play for a max of 20k a month and he is fit and has his heart in it.. Then maybe we should take him back.

  25. For all said and done we now have a pretty good idea as to what direction the club SHOULD go. A year from now we might all be wanting a further extension! I can live with it let's face it we need some wise guidance

  26. We’ve just found a pair of strikers who actually link fairly well together (and in Fletcher a young one with big upside), I really don’t want to take the gamble of trying to replace both in a short summer, and I don’t think the club will.

  27. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08m2hrw Here’s the full interview. 4:35 is where he talks about transfers. ”The players I’m after, there’s bigger clubs probably, or clubs with more money at the moment”. Id probably guess he was on about bigger clubs being after the same players. Which is promising?

  31. I think the point is that if we get rid of the likes of tav, coulson and Spence to get more experienced championship pros like Saville and Howson were going to find ourselves with a very depressing and unlikeable side. It's what I expect to happen though.

  32. Re Charlton My initial reaction was *** em. I still hate their fans for the whistle incident when Gaston was thru on goal. As well as all their other antics making a mockery of the game but this is horrible (quickly flicks to WhoScored to see who we should bid for 😉)

  34. It has been pretty depressing supporting the Boro this season, now all of a sudden it is quite exciting to be a Boro fan, obviously a lot of changes coming. I am really looking forward to the new season starting now, i don't think it will be a boring season.

  35. I think Neil Warnock could get a tune out of a punctured cow, so I'm sure he'll fancy a stab at the play-offs with the likes of Tav, Spence, Fletcher and Fry joined by players who he knows and trusts. I bet his calls to Steve Gibson are along the lines of: "Steve, it's Neil. Have you signed Gunter yet?" "Steve, me again. Have you signed Gunter yet?" "Steve, I've just had a Ginsters. Have you signed Gunter yet?" "Steve, the Ginsters is on its way to the sewage works. Have you signed Gunter yet?"

  36. Certainly could be construed as that but it also could go a long way to helping us if we're aiming for promotion and trying to sign players for it. Don't think our options will be great when the gaffer will be gone in a year unless we're actually trying to go up this season. Especially as we might not be putting big wages on the table, we're gonna need to do a good job convincing players we're ready to go for promotion this year.

  39. Britt also looked like more than just a goalscorer under Warnock, it's worth saying. He worked his socks off, actually held the ball up pretty well at times too. He was rubbish for so much of this season, in fact the only time he started looking good under Woodgate, he pretty much immediately got injured against Charlton at the Riverside, 2-3 games into a decent spell. But the difference under Warnock was staggering, guess we shouldn't be so shocked given the difference in experience, mind.

  43. To counter all of your points about Gibson- he's been training with us since warnock has come in to the club. He'll have taken a very close look and if we sign him he will be confident that he can get back up to speed in time for the new campaign. If he doesn't, then we won't sign him. Simple as that with Neil I think.

  44. I'd expect a few signings over the next few days now. Hopefully we can hit the ground running. I like the idea of Warnock pitching up at Gibbo's gaff uninvited and laying down the law to him. In my head that's what happened.

Hackney hasn't been in the squad the last two games after making a fleeting appearance on the bench a couple of weeks ago. He's not ready to start a game. I think it'll be mcnair in for ayling like you say but I reckon vdb starts at right back like early on in the season. The rest will be unchanged but with greenwood in for silvera.

If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway. I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and Engel - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trusting him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us) Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or Gilbert there: Dieng Paddy VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Silveria LL Azaz
