I think there are a few considerations with regards to money. Firstly it seems that we do have a few million to spend, I'm guessing around £2M to £5M although any outgoing fee raising transfers may boost this. Secondly we (or I should say MFC) haven't had any income from gate receipts for six months. OK I know that includes the summer break but there were also the refunds for games behind closed doors at the end of last season so whatever way you look at it money is a very rare commodity in football outside of the Premiership right now. I doubt many clubs can afford to run the entire seas9 points

The information I got was sanogo/ morsey and Woodrow the 1st 2 have materialised ( even though sanogo failed 2nd part of medical). Haven’t spoke to them though since last week though. Still causing Roberts also but Man City want a sale not a loan5 points

i'd love us to play 3 5 3 but do you think the refs would notice the extra player5 points

Considering it took missing out on Luke Amos, Korey Smith and Williams to get to Morsy I think we ended up with the best option of the lot to be honest. Whether the striker we end up with is better than Moore, Zohore and Sanogo who knows but for me we lucked out by ending up with Morsy as our holding midfielder.5 points

If that’s the case then he needs sacking. Pulis all over again. Rather protect a 1-0 loss than actively trying to get something🤯4 points

Some interesting comments from NW on his striker, could this be Woodrow they're talking about? All comments taken from Joe Nicholson on twitter: Warnock on lack of options off the bench: "When I spoke to Steve later on. We are all aware there wasn't much to change it and we have to put that right in the next couple of weeks." Warnock on transfers: "My main choice is still ongoing, I'm optimistic as we've had this before. We may have some more news on Wednesday. It would have been nice to make three positive changes from the bench but we are what we are." #Boro Warnock on striker4 points

We are in for Zohore but wages a problem. We want both Roberts and Moukoudi back. These deals had already been set up by Woodgate but then put on the back-burner by Warnock. City want £ for Roberts in a perm, we want a loan with view to a perm. We are also in for a player from France who can play upfront and wide right, but I cant get a name. We have turned down the option to sign Murphy. Not sure if it was a perm or loan but he was offered to us. Nothing on Woodrow. Not sure of this is because it is cards close to chest or not. Things more cagey than usual.3 points

I would certainly say that Johnson should have been off as he was appalling with the ball on Friday. But even if you left him on but switched the shape then you could say you were trying something. To try nothing should never be accepted by fans, especially ours, as we've seen plenty of that recently.3 points

This is what I mean, his words could be interpreted as upbeat or downbeat in text form. Need that video for a bit of clarity.3 points

I'm still pleasantly surprised we managed to get Morsy...3 points

Hi all. New to the forum, although I've been a 'lurker' on the 'other well known message-board' for the last twenty odd years. Looking forward to chatting with you all! I'm a Boro exile now living in North Yorkshire, although I have been a season ticket holder since 1998. Got my lad into the Boro a few years ago too and we now sit in the lower west just behind the home manager dugout. Had some fantastic times supporting the Boro - the best being the Carling Cup final and Brighton home game. It's desperately sad to see how far back we've dropped over the last four years, especially as3 points

Really pleased to be on here and looking forward to many years of debating the Boro!3 points

I've heard nothing regarding us but Zohore is heading to SW as it stands2 points

Just to worry people, how is Connor Wickham these days 🙂2 points

I would have sacked him over the weekend if that was the case.2 points

Ross Stewart? If he was his main target all along would be a twist and a half to be fair, Warnock happily let Dykes go to QPR he was the best shithouse striker up there get the feeling this is from Europe personally.2 points

Our wing-backs were rubbish, we had two potential replacements on the bench for one side, we could have pushed Dijksteel further up and brought Fry on for Spence to change the other side. It very much does sound like Warnock was trying to make a point which is pathetic, whichever way you look at it. He doesn't so far seem to come across as an excuses man, the way Pulis did, but this is very much in that territory. I sincerely hope it doesn't continue.2 points

Not really anything ground breaking but just been told we are still trying for Kenneth Zohore. We only want him on loan though and West Brom are keen to sell. Warnock also wants Patrick Roberts back, but again we want a loan so will depend if he (or Man City) get a better offer before the end of the window. Not a lot else happening, or at least that my mate would tell me anyway.2 points

I’m praying we bring in a right-back or move Dijksteel to right wing-back. I personally think Spence is a liability, defensively he’s so poor and only isn’t exposed more because of his pace at times. (His only real asset). Shocked there was no mention of him after the Watford game as for me he looked the weakest link barring Saville.2 points

That’s good news really as it keeps the Clubs cards close to their chest. No good for us on here though! 😁1 point

Information has been harder to get than usual since Warnock has come in, and this has got worse as the window has progressed.1 point

I'd be surprised if it was Zohore because of the strength of the rumours linking him with Sheff Wed and Warnock sounding quite confident of this potential signing coming here. Not saying we couldn't get Zohore, but it'd surely be far more up in the air than Warnock made it sound if it was him.1 point

Then say they were *** when they don't sign. Or the other way around 🤣🤣🤣1 point

Do you know something? If he is the main target, Woodrow is only a year younger so maybe Woodrow isn’t a target after all. Smoke n mirrors maybe.1 point

Spot on, I can't understand why anyone would defend him over this.1 point

If you're the sort of person who looks at stats [I am] then no, as he has only scored double figures once in a season in his career. If you're the sort of person who doesn't look at stats, then I have no idea.1 point

Best not to take a chance when 1-0 down and change something and go for a point. It was like watching the second leg of the playoffs against Villa again.1 point

TBF only WIng and Browne had a chance of getting on, and to bring Browne off he woud have to have taken Tav Britt or Fletch off Coulson has barely played in the last 3 weeks due to illness Fry has only played 60 mins against Shrewsbury since the end of last season then your down to Bola and the young lads - and they are still to prove themselves1 point

Sack him! Ridiculous suggestion as he is entitled to bring on as many subs as he wants or thinks will help, not to satisfy moaning supporters.1 point

He sounds pretty frustrated/irritated. I hope we are going all out to get the players he wants in, not sure he will be quite this polite if we don’t!1 point

Potentially not doing anything to effect the game, to prove a point that literally everyone who knows anything about our squad can blatantly see? I wouldn't say shrewd.1 point

We outbid Cardiff/Stoke/QPR on Moore's wages, matched Brentford's 1.5 million bid for Goode, I assume matched Bristol's 2 million pound deal for Williams and have loaned in a GK whose apparently on 35k a week! Zohore is on north of 30k a week way beyond the 20k range we were offering Moore/Sanogo and the difference with Zohore to Bettinelli is West Brom have found club(s) willing to cover almost all of it and apparently convinced Monk to put an option to buy in as well. The only deals we've baulked at is Zohore and Phillips for valid reasons in both cases imo. I don't think lack of m1 point

His passing is too inconsistent to ever be a #10 at this level and he doesn't have the physical capabilities to be a box to box so he's stuck inbetween the 2 positions and if he doesn't get the ball near the opposition box consistently he's basically useless. I don't know the answer for Wing there's plenty of examples of players in this league who are similar early years Bradley Johnson is the one that I compare him to a little bit selfish at times, can be a passenger or a match winner. He has a great shot and decent positioning around the box but his passing range and consistency o1 point

I actually think he might have done a job behind the strikers in our 3-4-1-2 against Watford. The problem is you would have had to take off Tav to put him there so overall we might have been less effective as an attacking force. Or maybe we should have a striker off and Tav and Wing behind Britt/Fletch and go 3-4-2-1. That all being said, I still think our biggest issue in that game was the wingbacks so whilst it might be worth a go going forward, it probably wouldn't have changed a thing on the night.1 point

"Spence gave a great impersonation of a Now TV Stick, great when connected but prone to losing signal and dropping out." Glad it's not just me then! Particularly prone to dropping out if I put the microwave on - have to remember to make my cuppa at half time 😀 Not likely to improve but Spence probably will1 point

I could be wrong, but I think the second yellow was so soft that the referee knew exactly what he was doing when he did it. No chance he'd have given a yellow card for such a minor incident if he'd thought it was leading to a red card. -

Very lucky considering Martinez got two yellows but got away with it due to the penalties not being regarded as the same game, which doesn't really make sense to me -

Yeah, I get that. Like last night, Real Madrid were played off the park by Man City but have scraped through to a major semi-final because City couldn't finish and they've scrapped away goals. Tonight, Aston Villa were lucky to beat Lille on penalties, who were much the better team on the night.
