  2. 3m .. Come on .. It's way better than spending 8m on Saville and 6m on Fletcher .. And don't get me startet on Gestede and others .. I swear to god, some people can find problems to every solution in the world .. It's like they are addicted to moaning .. Fans: We need another forward .. Not to old.. why don't we explore other European leagues .. blah blah .. Club: Signs a youngish forward from a European legue for a fee lower than 80 % of our transfers during the last 5 years .. Fans: He sucks, he is way to expensive... Greek league sucks .. Another Arsenal reject, moan moan moa

  3. It’s €1.5M with potential ‘add ons’. Within a couple of hours it’s almost perceived wisdom on here that it’s £3M. Also the fact he has been playing in Greece would suggest that the overall package, including wages, is about right. Please don’t compare him to Roberts in terms of the cost to the club. It’s daft!

  4. Why is it so many of our fans think that signing players is as simple as working through a shopping list and going to a particular aisle and selecting what you want before you move to the next aisle? The transfer window has many moving parts, yes you may want a winger or creative player but you don’t just allow the other positions that require filling to be passed by. Would fans find it preferable if we didn’t sign anyone until we signed a creative player, even though we all know that we need other spots filling? Typical of Boro fans to lose their *** before allowing the club to fini

  5. Akpom would be a brilliant signing at this level I think. I see him more as a number 10 rather than striker so I'm not particularly looking at his goalscoring record. My 2nd team is Arsenal so I've watched him a lot over the years especially at Youth level and he's pacey, direct and can take people on which is something we have been crying out for. I'd say he's a different option to Tavernier, gives us the option to go to a 2 in the middle of midfield with Akpom behind the 2 strikers.

  6. Are people forgetting both our strikers contracts expire at the end of the season? It’s always been a priority to get a striker in

  7. God, we are such a depressing fanbase Cue lots of but its been *** for years and we are rubbish at recruitment, yeah yeah we all get it but this leaning into being negative about everything is grim

  8. May I just ask who if anyone has access to any of the bank accounts belonging to either MFC, the Gibson O'Neill Company or Mr Gibson's personal accounts. If not then I would venture to suggest that none of us know what the club has to spend, nor unless we have complete access to Mr Warnock's head do we know exactly what his plans are. This forum was put together to gender some excitement during the transfer window speculating who we would like and ocassionally getting some tantalising tit bits from those who are ITK. I agree that some of our dealings over the years have been poor but Mr Warnoc

  9. Tonight certainly laid bare why Warnock didn't mix things up by using the bench against Watford. If he had the 1-0 scoreline might have been more damaging. We were never going to win the Cup and a trip to Chelsea would be another game with a very small squad that would like as not end up on the wrong end of a humiliating cricket score. Just the cost of going down there alone when there has been no income for months would be eye watering. Did Warnock deliberately throw tonight's game? I don't think so but he handed opportunities for individuals to shine even if it was with only work rate a

  11. Haha. Most days Middlesbrough but about 5pm most Saturdays I do have a major meltdown and make a final declaration to not waste another minute on them for rest of my life. I then usually backtrack on that statement by about 8pm.

  12. I couldn't agree more. Our patterns of play have been absolutely horrific since Karanka promotion team and we are just a long ball hoping to win the second balls type of teamwhich is easy for championship teams to deal with. Our play needs to completely change regardless of players but that isn't going to happen anytime soon now we have ditched our 'woodgate new era philosophy' . I was excited by the thought of a new brand of football just not under Woodgate.

  13. How about the poppy being on the England shirts? I don't agree that it shouldn't be allowed because quite frankly, I just don't see how gestures like this are the only thing that is political about football. I do think though, despite the 'taking a knee' coming from a place of protest and a reasonable protest at that, the way it's executed in English football right now is actually more a sign of solidarity rather than protest. The ref blows the whistle to indicate they take the knee, then does it again to kick off the game. That's not a protest. It is also executed at all levels in every

  17. If he couldn’t do it in this league when he was 17-18 years old he won’t be able to do it now 😁

  18. Bringing in creative players is one thing, finding affordable ones that are available and willing to come is another thing. We can't just sit and wait until we sign creative players and then start looking for strikers, life isn't that simple. These things happen in parallel, the timing of them getting over the line is variable.

  19. the fee could be £1.5m with £250k if he scores 20+ and a further £1m if we get promoted or any such variation you'd like to come up with the twitter post does say including add on's. More importatnly he's Warnocks first choice!

  20. He hasn't played a game yet and already scored as many for us as Nmecha, he'll do for me.

  21. 1. Three million euros is not three million pounds. 2. I'm almost certain the transfer fee could rise to three million euros with add ons etc. Initially around 1.5. 3. When did loads of you start being accountants instead of fans? I want good players here and I dont care about how much it costs 4. Akpom is a Warnock type striker. Big and strong and direct. 5. We will bring one more striker and a creative player in next. Zohore on loan and possibly Roberts.

  24. If you think that we will lose to Bournemouth then why on earth would we want to play Chelsea at the Bridge with all that wasted cost and time spent travelling there and back, disrupting preparations for the Championship season which is our bread and butter? No travelling fans for a day out, no share of gate receipts, no atmosphere and a humiliating scoreline destroying what little confidence is slowly being built. Once the double draw was made the die was cast and lets not kid ourselves the double draw was done to suit the big boys not the EFL teams who are merely a necessary inconvenien

  28. Even woodgate gave up on his own ideas of a new brand of football almost immediately. It's been a depressing state of affairs for years now. Watching how Barnsley played last night I was genuinely jealous at times.

  29. PAOK fans all say he isn't the best finisher more of a creator for other forwards around the box with a good workrate apparently has scored crucial goals for PAOK in derby's and scored an overhead kick in last years Greek Cup final to win them the Cup. He seems different than what we have in that he has good technique with a good touch around the box and he uses it to pick out teammates with cute passes something we do lack from Britt and Fletcher. I'm assuming there's a massive unit to come on loan as striker number 4, after that I'll just be praying we get new wingbacks.

  30. I think losing 2 in a row has dampened spirits a bit for some. I personally think it's a good signing but can see why people aren't exactly inspired.

  31. Gone are the days where 2.5 million pound strikers are viewed as big news to the fanbase but have to say bit disheartened to see no flight tracking going around today like the good old days of the Jelle Vossen chase he has the pedigree of scoring against Ajax in Europe and assisting to knockout Benfica in the Champions League! Chubez, you already know thats his Warnock nickname, has chose us over European football Turkish teams and FC Koln of the Bundesliga he might be a flop for us but if he wasn't English I sense there'd be more excitement maybe? After all we all got excited over a seco

  33. hehe, keen on Keinan Davis Jokes aside, I think people are just more accepting of the idea of, when we bring in a player we don't know that much about, who has a style that suits Warnock, that we won't be keeping hold of them beyond the end of the season. If Keinan Davis isn't that good for us, it doesn't really matter when the next man walks through the doors. If Akpom isn't that good, we're probably going to struggle to sell him on if the next man doesn't want him. A lot of my issues with signing a player right now is wondering where he fits in beyond Warnock's time here. Because t

  34. We don’t need wingers. We can hoof it up and scrap for it with 3 strikers! They’ll be like the holy trinity. you don’t score many goals from the wing!

  35. It's clear Warnock is using the budget to how he feels its best used. We do need to address the lack of creativity once again but lets see if he changes his tact after last night's viewing. Its clear were not going to sign wingers when we are playing 352 isn't that obvious? Some people on here need a reality check, writing of this striker before he has even kicked a ball for us. I bet the next linked player will get thrown under the bus too.

  37. If these links are true its another one in and a position we need filling so all good. Two wingers or one and an attacking midfielder and a cb and I'm happy, and would predict a playoff push

  39. Where has this idea come from he is coming in as 3rd choice? If he performs he stays in the team. We are playing 2 out and out striker this season very much in the sheff utd 3.5.2 mould. Lets assume Britt is a starter. Other spot is up for grabs.

  40. Not sure what else you'd like us to do mate, only other striker at the club is Ste Walker. One injury or suspension and we're relying on a 19 year old with one senior goal to his name. You're not getting much better for that money in England because the market is so inflated for permanent deals. It's not a lump £3m either. It's going to involve add-ons and if he does well enough to meet those, surely it's worth it? Definitely need a few more additions at key areas, mind.

  41. Does my head in when we're linked with a player and idiots start linking the Wikipedia page and saying he's already signed because somebody's edited his page. Wikipedia has been around for nearly 20 years, you'd think people would understand how it works by now.

  42. Listen there are positives with Akpom, because he's English we'll probably always be able to get near enough our money back on him in a worst case and 2.5 million would get you nothing in the Championship/Prem so Warnock probably thinks it's ideal we've got an English striker in with European pedigree for a cheap price relative to domestic alternatives. He looks like he has a good technique on the ball so the lamppost worries are set aside, he has a bit of pace and strength hopefully that's enough to work with. We might as well be positive about him considering he'll be the only striker c

  43. I had absolutely no issue with the team he picked, it's the formation that frustrated me. Playing Browne as a striker and Coulson as a right back, and then taking off Fletcher to play another winger as a striker.

  45. Yeah i find this criticism against gibson bizarre. Say what you want about his decision making, but he's never put his own self interests over the clubs.

  46. Not sure why people are having a meltdown about Warnocks team selection. He said before Shrewsbury game he would look to make wholesale changes if we progressed given size of squad. This idea he was using tonight's team selection to make a point is ridicuoous because he has already made that point previously. And not only has he made it but its been fully accepted by those above so he does not need to repeat it. Its out there and accepted. Just a case of trying to doing something about it which it seems everyone at club is trying.

  47. People put far too much stock in the "ITK" label as if it's someone's job and they spend all day sat at Rockliffe or are in with Bausor doing deals. They're only passing on what they are told - which luckily for us on this forum is sometimes absolutely spot on and makes for exciting reading.
