  1. Hi guys! PAOK fan here from Greece. You are getting a really hard worker in Akpom. He is a top lad and a good professional. When he first came, he was considered a bench player. It was the 2018-19 season. During the first half of that season he would only come in as sub but during the January transfer window, PAOK sold their best striker, Prijovic in Arabia. Everyone was panicking since we were on route to our first championship in years. Chuba stepped up and was one of the best players, in the second half of the season. He contributed in PAOK's first championship in 34 years (!) where we were

  2. Sadly the history of mankind is littered with "ism's" of many types. Wars have been started over them and millions of lives lost because of it. Since the days we lived in caves we developed tribalism and it has continued throughout thousands of years where anyone or anything that looks or sounds different or in reality we don't understand. Usually fear is the driver, fear of not having enough food or water, fear that something would be taken from us, fear that we would be killed or abused, fear that we wouldn't have a job, fear that someone or something else would upset what we had. Fear devel

  4. Club have released a statement: following Neil warnock's positive test for Covid-19 Ashely Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga will continue to self isolate up front for boro for their game against Bournemouth.

  5. In light of Warnock's diagnosis, I think we have to say we won't be able to fulfill the Bournemouth fixture because of health reasons. We should just cancel the game and fax the paperwork over to the EFL later. I can't see any problems with this approach.

  6. That’s the issue. Certain aspects of a lot of movements not just BLM have created a environment to ask why or question some of the actions are immediately shut down and labelled racist, bigotry etc. **** it. I’ll put it out there. BLM I agree 100% with the message but nowhere near of the whole organisation

  10. I think one of the problems is the left right divide that seems to be projected onto so many issues, even though they should be apolitical. A lot of it is down to tribalism which is particularly strong on social media. BLM = a left wing ideology Care about the environment = loony lefty Don’t believe in Covid or masks = right wing None of the above are political matters, but they have been hijacked by extremists.

  11. I think that’s about it. I know has been at Rockliffe today and is staying there tonight. Don’t think he was there yesterday. Hopefully, all going well it will be announced tomorrow so he can play Saturday.

  12. Just in case no-one else has heard, I was listening to TalkSport this afternoon and they said the game will be going ahead (for what that's worth). @Redcar Rioja Fantastic post that rather nicely underlines my reservations about BLM (and Extinction Rebellion and pretty much all other protests, movements etc.) However worthy the cause, real change only tends to come about if there is a driving political or economic imperative, or unless there is an overwhelming change in societal values. While things are undoubtedly better than they were 30, 40 or 50 years ago, there is still a lot th

  14. Racism is just the symptoms of fear ... Eliminate fear and poverty, and symptoms like racism will dissappear too! Eliminate the root of the problem, that is .. Back to football! IF the game is not postponed, I would like to see this team: Bettinelli Dijksteel, Hall, McNair Howson, Morsy, Saville, Johnson Tavernier Brittass, Fletcher Howson did "ok" at right wingback last season and Spence need a break to man up; he has been awfull lately. Bench : Fry, Spence, Coulson, Folarin, Brynn, Browne, Wing

  15. eugene thanks for that long post. we are not really a long ball team, but we look to be instructed to hit balls from deep into the channels. but our cb's think wow i'll just hoof it and hope for the best lol. we have just signed a midfielder who likes to hit long diagonals in the channels so i think this is a strong tactic for us. signing a guy who like to run the channels and this midfielder is a clear tactically direction. which we havent seen a lot of for a while. under a rookie manager last season the team just turned up and had no clear tactic and were terrible all season.

  17. @EugeneDaGreek thanks for the post! It's an interesting read. It will be really interesting to see how he fits in. Warnock likes his team to press but unfortunately we only press 2 or 3 at a time rather than the whole team. Really appreciate you taking the time to write that all up!

  18. This news does not bode well from Warnock or the club and I wish him well. The question is how far spread is it and what is the risk in playing the game. I think there may be a case of calling it off, I hope so because it will give us more time to see out transfers, if any. Does a club have a curse. Just to eliminate the possibility I think the stadium should be dismantled and moved somewhere else, scenic that might attract good players as well.

  22. I personally think that anything that highlights the need to stamp out racism and bigotry in all its forms is a good thing and shouldn't really be questioned, but each to their own I guess. There are still a lot of ignorant people out there who need educating, sadly. It disgusts me that people think it's okay to attack Lewis Hamilton for wearing T-shirts with anti-racism messages and taking the knee at F1 events.

  23. Would it be really out of order for a team to kick off whilst the other team were taking the knee and get a 1 goal start, if say, the striker was BAME and smiled afterwards?

  24. Brace yourselves folks...here we go again! This weekend the Boro play host to the Mighty Cherries. If you think our season has been rough so far...it ain't about to get any better. The visitors have won both games so far - a 3-2 home win in the league against Blackburn and an 11-10 win on penalties in the EFL Cup against Crystal Palace (also at home). This despite losing long-serving manager Eddie Howe and a clutch of players, including striker Callum Wilson, winger Ryan Fraser, defender (and skipper) Simon Francis and midfielder (and vice-captain) Andrew Surman, following their

  25. No. --------------------------Bettinelli --------------------Wood - Fry - Hall Dijksteel - Howson - Morsy - Tavernier - Coulson -----------------Fletcher - Assombalonga LCB and CF, and ideally 2 pacy wingers but I can't see him getting any. I think we will be safer from relegation than last season, but I don't think it will be a classic. No. I have no idea what that song is.

  27. That’s a very interesting post, it will take more than education to change some people’s beliefs, the tribalism that exists these days is very worrying. It seems that many people make up their mind about something and once they have, there are never any shades of grey. How can every action of one party or politician always be right? It can’t, people need to make judgements based on their own experiences, morals and intelligence rather than following a party line the whole time.

  30. Just can't see it. We've had 2 windows to sign him, when he's unwanted by the club he's at, and nothing has came of it. Been a month or so since I heard it, so I guess it may have changed with how this window is going for us, but the noises from his family were that Middlesbrough weren't interested in bringing him back either.

  31. We are a long ball team, you just described how we are right after saying we weren't! Also, it may be a clear tactical direction but its a *** poor one. Sending the ball into the channels to hit a striker with no support due to playing a wingerless system (our fbs aren't good enough to do this job effectively either) means there's only ever going to be one person to hit in the box because our midfielders don't look to get involved.

  34. Players arent supposed to be allowed to make political statements or have messages under their shirts so I kinda get what youre saying. But I think we should go the other way and allow those things rather than ban kneeling with them. After all, racism is a problem for the whole society; theres not racism in football theres racism in people. Racism is not political, its human indecency.

  35. As of the last set of accounts it is documented fact that we as a business (the club), owed Gibson's other businesses £105 Million. Since the 2010/11 to our promotion season (2015/2016) we lost a combined figure of £86.5 Million (roughly). We made a profit in the Prem season of £11.5 Million. Then in the 2 season since relegation (2017/18 & 2018/19) we've made a combined loss of £4.8 Million. Rockcliffe (is a separate business entity) has literally nothing to do with our finances. If I recall correctly, I believe Gibson had planned it so that, Rockcliffe once it was a profit making e

  37. How about the poppy being on the England shirts? I don't agree that it shouldn't be allowed because quite frankly, I just don't see how gestures like this are the only thing that is political about football. I do think though, despite the 'taking a knee' coming from a place of protest and a reasonable protest at that, the way it's executed in English football right now is actually more a sign of solidarity rather than protest. The ref blows the whistle to indicate they take the knee, then does it again to kick off the game. That's not a protest. It is also executed at all levels in every

  40. I couldn't agree more. Our patterns of play have been absolutely horrific since Karanka promotion team and we are just a long ball hoping to win the second balls type of teamwhich is easy for championship teams to deal with. Our play needs to completely change regardless of players but that isn't going to happen anytime soon now we have ditched our 'woodgate new era philosophy' . I was excited by the thought of a new brand of football just not under Woodgate.

Given to my late brother when in hospital in 86, 6 Boro players had gone to the General hospital to visit my brother who was involved in a awful works accident I had wrote to the football club when my brother was hospitalised & Bruce was just appointed, the 1st think he did was read my letter, call for Mogga & a number of players to visit my brother, I would like to think it was the 1st time Bruce Rioch picked his team The shirt was given to my brother by Mogga, who gave it to me 👍
