  1. At the time £10m was good money for Bamford. However, considering we turned down bigger offers for Britt is baffling to me. Every aspect of Bamford's game is and was better than Britt when he was here.

  2. Milan? Bloody hell, Arsenal, Milan, AGF Horsey? Can't you lot just support Boro and accept your lot in life ffs? Football isn't supposed to be fun, it's supposed to crush your spirit until all that's left is a shell of a person, all bitter and twisted and bereft of any hope.

  3. If ever there was an example of how effective pace and trickery is, it was Osayi-Samuel yesterday. Single handedly caused us problems all afternoon. Meanwhile we may aswell have been playing with 9 men and 2 planks of wood in the wing-back positions. The main reason for playing the 3-5-2 was "our players are much better suited to that system" I would seriously debate that isn't the case at all. Essentially it was "our defenders aren't good enough so let's play 5 of them" but the wing backs simply do not defend and we are usually left with 3 defending, we'd be much better off signing

  4. The lad is absolutely class and I'm really pleased for him. His movement is brilliant and he showed that with the goal today. I think the question mark over him at this level was whether he is clinical enough in front of goal but he's started superbly. We should have built the team around him after relegation instead of wasting a fortune on inferior strikers.

  5. The biggest mistake we ever made with Pulis was selling Bamford.

  6. I think this thread's title of 'transfers' would be at odds with the trades description act!

  8. I’ll always be gutted we let Bamford go. He loved it here and was the best striker we had in years. Pulis didn’t even like Britt so it’s not like he made a choice between the two. Should have done everything to keep him instead of pushing him out.

  9. What a *** spunkbubble. I mean maybe, just MAYBE if he wasn't such a self-centered, attention seeking See You Next Tuesday some club would sign him.

  10. I can’t agree that a striker would solve all our problems, it’s exactly that kind of thinking that has got us in this position back in 2017. What we need once and for all is footballers who can play in the attacking third and actually keep the ball up there and do stuff with it. The likes of Jota, Gaston, watkins even *** ‘Chair’. THOSE are the style of players we need to bring in, not more strikers. Watching Brighton today was depressing, their interplay around utds area was great to watch, it was inventive and full of movement. I’m sick of seeing and saying the same thing about

  11. I'm not too disappointed with our opening results and performances. The fixtures were really tough on paper and we've had our own disruptions like Warnock and Fry having to self-isolate, Fletcher's injury and a pretty frustrating transfer window which has left us very short in several areas, so there are significant mitigating factors. It' also worth noting that a lot of our players are still adapting to this wingback formation so it's going to take us time to become more effective. In particular, it's going to take the wing-backs and strikers time to understand their movements. I think that's

  12. See, I don't agree with this. Assombalonga's two chances today weren't sitters. The second one certainly wasn't with a defender all over him and the first one I just don't think he expected. He should have expected it though, so that one I do place the blame on him. We don't create enough. If you HAVE to take one of the few chances you get then you aren't creating enough, it's as simple as that. We don't create a lot of good chances, we create the odd one during a game, and if we don't take it then we struggle to score. We still seem to be completely reliant on crosses into the box

  13. Watched his highlights and he looks like he’s played both sides equally as much tbh. He fits the description warnock gave of a young lad who can play across the front positions.

  14. If Pep was the coach everyone says he is then he would be drilling the back 4 and coaching them how to defend the counter attack. He just buys players who are or close to the finished article.

  15. Where did you see this? Surely it has to be us. I’d be Happy with him on loan purely because he’s an attacker and half decent.

  16. He has not had a lot of luck there....19 years old and regularly left high and dry by his team mates, when they don't give him concussion....don't blame him for wanting out, at least in Spain he will only have to play a couple of hard games each year

  18. It was 7m rising to 10m and i cant imagine any of the add ons have now not been achieved.

  19. Not really as we went and spent it on utter garbage.

  20. 10m was only good if we spent it wisely, but we bought Flint and Saville with the money.... And Pulis has people believing he worked wonders behind the scenes here.

  21. We looked a team transformed when Tav went on the right.. but that wasn't how we set-up from the start so it has to be intentional.

  22. Mowbray did a great job for us with little money to spend, but towards the end of his reign we were definitely heading for League 1. Our form in his last year at the club was awful

  24. Marcus Maddison posted the below on Instagram today. We know Warnock likes a gamble with the likes of Taraabt and El Hadj Diouf. He could be just the person Marcus needs in his life to turn it around and be our outlet. marcusmaddison11 27 today 🥳 but can’t mask the fact that this year has been the worst of my life. No goals achieved, my best friend died 🐕😭, love life non existent ☠️ & now Jobless 🤷🏼‍♂️. So happy birthday To myself & knowing next year can’t be any worse surely 🤔🤨 #mm11 #birthday #inspire #life#job #dad #dog

  25. This match showed what we all know is we need to sign some left Wingbacks or actual wingers. As we were better than QPR in every department but the wings that they exposed us on.

  26. Thought we weren't bad today, had chances to win it and lose it, Dijksteel put in an amazing performance, paddy put in some wicked balls and Fry looked relatively steady when put on. Watching their wide players was like night and day to our width, Spence gave the ball away for the counter attack that eventually led to their goal and him and Johnson didn't offer much going forward. Second half was pretty dire but our best period came when we bought the subs on towards the end of the game. Take the point and hope we can pick up a win against Barnsley 🤠

  28. We certainly are not a side that creates numerous chances each game, which makes it more important when we do we convert what chances come our way. Britt has shown that he cannot convert enough, if we have aspirations for the play offs in my opinion. If we add something different up top he may well do. Everyone sees the game differently, but I think he should have converted one of his chances today. I dont know how easy a chance he needs. I think today gave Warnock food for thought. When we went 433 we were more dominant. Perhaps that may give Britt the more clear cut chances he needs, though

  29. In fairness to Assombalonga, he seemed well aware that he'd fluffed some big chances in his post match interview. I don't think anyone could argue that he hadn't put the effort in either. He should have done better with the chances he had, but he put a shift in today.

  30. I don't think he was one on one in the way you mean it, albeit I think he should have anticipated the first chance, and he quite clearly didn't. We don't have to create 3 or 4 one on one chances for him to score. I'd be amazed if there were many games in the time that he's been here that we've created 3 or 4 one on one chances for the entire team, never mind him alone.

  31. No striker in the world needs just one chance though, so that's completely unrealistic.

  32. I'm sorry, I think that is correlation, not causation. Having a 20-goal a season striker is indicative of the team working. Yes the player needs to put the chances away, but every part needs to work, a well-drilled defence, a midfield that can destroy and create and strikers that put away chances. I don't disagree with you, I just think you're simplifying things. In my view, what we need right now, is a plan, not a 20-goal a season striker.

  33. I wouldn’t say no to the attacking player you describe, but you cannot have 2 chances on a plate in the 6 yard box, like today and blame creativity.

  34. We finished 2nd and were promoted in one of these seasons. Leeds top scorer in the Championship last season was Bamford with 17. No other player managed double figures in league goals for them. WBA top scorer in the league got 10. It’s nice to have a 20 goal striker but by no means a necessity.

  35. I predicated mid table based on NW presence and the club fulfilling his needs for players. I certainly have no unrealistic aspirations of play offs. Acutely based on the last three games I would lower my prediction to mid lower. We still have a slow leaky defense with no link up player or leader and Brit misses more chances then I have seen for any striker. Let’s not talk about possession, pass rates or crosses.

Che Adams was signed from League One by Birmingham, after being signed from non-League by Sheffield United. Josh Brownhill started his career at a League One club and was signed by Bristol City on the back of a League One loan.

Really don’t get this obsession with signing league one players, our record is atrocious when it comes to signing players from the lower leagues. Our best season recently was with premiership loans. Really hope we go for quality over quantity, I’d be happy with 3 top players and fill the gaps in the squad with youth.    Calum O’Hare Josh Brownhill Che Adams All top performers at this level, all available for free and all at the age you can probably still move them on 3 years from now. You would pay more in wages but you would be looking at big transfer fees to bring players of their quality in. Then take a punt on someone like Dembele. Also really hope McGree signs a new deal. Lath, Adams, Forss & Coburn McGree, Jones, Aziz, Dembele, O’Hare, Silvera.  For our attacking options.

The vote for Boro's goal of the season. I've gone for McGree's against Birmingham, even though I think Forss' against Sunderland was the best finish. I prefer a cleaner build up. I expect Greenwood's free kick will win though.
