Their is a fascinating article about the Boro in today’s Athletic... Nine championship games in 29 days. Following a team in their maddest run ever. Neil Warnock was on the pitch. It was all over. Approaching 5pm on Saturday and Middlesbrough had just won 4-1 at Birmingham City to lift the Teessiders into the Championship’s play-off places. The dark, empty stadium echoed to a brief cheer from the away dugout, then Warnock exchanged coronavirus fist-bumps with Birmingham’s staff and the match officials. His players were heading for the touchline. Warnock called them back14 points

Whilst this year has been like no other year in the memories of probably all of our Members I would like to to send out a simple message on behalf of all the oneBoro team to each and every past, present and future oneBoro forum member. "Thank you one and all" Only you within yourselves know what you have gone through this year, how this continuing pandemic has affected your lives and those around you and whom you know, the traumas and heartache that are associated with what we are all going through, not just in the UK but the countries where you are living. For those of you who7 points

Hi All Just to let you know the full Q&A with Neil is now available to watch on the club website. Its 90 mins long, lots of great content. Hope you enjoy! Ask the gaffer6 points

Very well said, @Downsouth. This has been an atrocious year for me and my family, and coming on here has provided a very welcome distraction on some difficult days. I'm proud to be part of an online community that retains a sense of friendliness, and one which hasn't descended into mindless trolling (coughfmttmcough). Hope everyone on here gets through the coming days without too much difficulty or sadness, and maybe in 2021 we'll smash both the virus and the league...5 points

Seeing as you posted it in the wrong thread I won’t bother reading it. I understand that knowledge is power but rules are rules 😉 (Thanks for posting , great read)3 points

The Boro v The Millers 26th December 2020 Kick Off: 15:00 Location: FORTRESS ERIMUS (aka The Riverside) "Neil Warnock to the rescue!" Will it or won't it? That is the question. Boro's Boxing Day Bonanza might be curtailed due to the Rotherham United team suffering from a bout of the old COVID-19. Their last match versus Derby County was cancelled 90 minutes before kick off, with Wayne Rooney's Rams not even allowed to exit the bus to stretch their legs before being turned away. I'd held off on posting anything for this match, thinking that it was a cert to be cancelled2 points

Good. Bloody foreigners coming over here making our league the best in the world with their world class managers and flair and turning our home grown talent into proper professionals 😡2 points

You say this, but I won the Bundesliga (x2), La Liga, Serie A, the Club World Cup (x3), Copa Italia, Italian Super Cup, DFB Pokal (x3), German Super Cup, European Super Cup, Europa League, and Champions League (x3) all with Alexander Sørloth as my superstar striker. He made the World Team of the Year 5 years running. Granted, only on FM21 - but we know your views on him. 🤡🤣2 points

Well said Alan. I’d like to add although the chaos of this year has not really adversely affected me (apart from a few pounds gained around the midriff) this forum has made me aware of the real personal and terrifying circumstances some of its members have faced. But the attitude not to be beaten down by it and a desire to battle on is nothing short of inspiring. So to those people I say bravo and keep going as there is no way next year can be as bad as this. To quote a wise scholar of the 1980’s2 points

Warmest wishes to you Alan and family and all members on this Forum, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Neil Warnocks Boro have given us a very pleasant and welcome distraction this season, long may it continue. I for one look forward to the next game again, it's such a boost in these difficult times. Stay safe over the festive period, that's the most important thing just now, football is great but health and family safety is more important. Best wishes to all.2 points

Many new member on here now since Magic Lamp's last appearance Little of the history of Magic Lamp has ever been published, but after helping Huddersfield to their only FA Cup win in 1922 . Magic lamp disappeared for nearly forty years resurfacing in the mid sixties, found in an attic of a pawn dealer in Dagenham by a schoolboy friend of Alf Ramsey. After a bit of research he found that this indeed was the Lamp that helped Huddersfield win the FA Cup and as a bit of joke passed the lamp onto Alf for good luck with The World Cup about to start. Of course England went on1 point

1. Did any of the Rotherham players or staff even have COVID-19 or were they just scared of Rooney's Rams? I find it hard to imagine anyone being scared of Derby, though faking a positive Covid result is a great way to get our of something you don't fancy. "Sorry, dear, I can't change that lightbulb - I've just been diagnosed as positive. Can it wait ten days?" 2. Will the game even go ahead or will the Millers pretend to get COVID-19 again? I hope it does. We want to build on the positive momentum we've amassed, even though a postponement would give the players a good break be1 point

Got a feeling it's going to be called off, but I really hope not. I'm not a fan of games in hand and it's game we absolutely should be winning too. I don't want that momentum halted. Worst comes to worst and I'll just suffer through my hangover whilst watching the Rangers match on Sky One, followed by the Villa match on BBC One.1 point

Hi Erimus. I trust you are well. In the photo you've posted on the other forum (I'm not a member there, hence my reply here!) the date on the sign is correct except that the sign writer has got the year wrong. He's presumably forgotten that January is the start of a new year. It's one of a series of photos that were taken at Ayresome Park by a freelance photographer working for the Daily Mirror on Sunday 16 January 1972. The supporters are queueing for tickets for the FA Cup Third Round Replay against Manchester City, Boro having drawn at Maine Road the previous day. The happy days w1 point

Good post Al. Best wishes to you and everyone else on the forum. Hopefully 2020 will feel like ancient history soon and we'll be able to have another oneBoro meet up at a home game!1 point

Publish and be damned! Stick the thread up, if it gets postponed we can elect a pools panel to predict the final outcome.1 point

Ah - that wasn't quoted in the report I saw. That went on about the FA's agreement with the Home Office which is going to make it significantly more difficult for EFL sides to sign foreign players. Either way I think we can kiss goodbye to seeing many foreign transfers into the Championship for quite sometime.1 point

Thanks for this Mark! Tom represented us brilliantly and sounds like he had a laugh with the gaffer.1 point

maybe Knutsen is a sort of Nils Warnock .. a good manager can improve ordinary players more than people realise1 point

Yeah it’s hugely impressive. I don’t think you can find a single football fan who has watched him in Denmark that can comprehend the season he just had. His teammate Zinckernagel who is a winger also had an amazing season, and is player of the year in Norway, but he was also very average in the danish league1 point

No worries, I should have posted it in the other Boro stuff thread but I was half asleep, do it can stay here. Enjoy.1 point

@BillyWoofs_shinpad. Top man for posting that. Will have a proper read on my lunch but i do love articles like this where you get insider reporting almost. Much appreciated.1 point

Fantastic post DS! 👏 I'd like to echo the sentiments and wish all the oneBoro community the best Christmas and New Year possible under the circumstances. Remember - there is a light at the end of the tunnel... ...and if we're lucky it won't just be a train headed straight for us! 😉1 point

For those who would like to see both of Wing's goals again😉 https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/12167587/birmingham-1-4-middlesbrough1 point

Maddison & Drury were discussing it after the match and said that providing the corner was on target, then Wing would be awarded the goal. So looks like it was on target.1 point

Wasn't doubting initially more desperately hoping it was true but didn't see any confirmation so the doubts started to creep in. I would have thought it would have been on the MFC website and the Gazette website for starters. I looked on the NewsNow website and there is nothing on there either. Got to admit I don't usually bother with Twitter but thanks for TeaCider for providing the proof. I can rest easy tonight knowing justice for Wingy was served 🙂1 point

It is strange they didn't put it on the website too, in fairness. Not every Boro fan uses social media.1 point

Seems a strange thing to doubt. Very sceptical RR 😉1 point

SG will only spend if the books are balanced which means outs first before contemplating any in. Given our inability in the transfer market I don’t think it very likely, if at all, we see players being suggested by the posters on here. We are in a Pandemic which is more then likely to go on for a very long period which may well see clubs go bust. Spending, I don’t think anyone will be brave enough. The question to be asked is, what is the return on investment.1 point

I really don’t get this acceptance of Bolasie. He has done absolutely nothing for years! Whilst at Villa, he disappointed and undelivered. Ironically it is claimed he only had 2 half decent games- v Derby, and v us! This was 2 years ago and went back to Everton. will he have improved 2 years on? I can’t see it. To me it is an enormous gamble, and the guy is living on the player he was 4 years ago. This is the reality. I believe we are being sucked in to bringing in a player whose best days are behind him. I could be wrong- I’d much prefer the Polish winger at West Brom. To me would m1 point

I don't want to see many signings in January tbh as it could disrupt the squad's morale and make us disjointed. I think Bolasie along with another winger/striker (Davis) and Roberts back to Man City and I think we will have a good squad especially with Browne, Hall and Fletch all coming back at the end of January.1 point

Our current team is very different to the team that we had going into the January transfer window of the 2015/16 promotion season. Firstly, our first 11 isn't anywhere near the same quality. Back then we had loads of quality individuals and equally impressive depth, but just needed a bit of magic from #10 position in Ramirez as Fabbrini just wasn't consistent enough and had awful decision making. We signed Rhodes and sold Kike, but that wasn't particularly needed. I think we're as high as 6th because Warnock has us overperforming and that we've been fortunate to avoid injuries - though Wa1 point

To be honest, I think Watmore could be the midfield dynamo we've missed for several seasons. He's already galvanised the team and taken games by the scruff of the neck. I'm not saying Watmore is as good as Ramirez was on his day (his goal against Bournemouth in the PL still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck when I watch it), but he's a creative and clever player of the sort we've lacked for years. Plus I still have hopes that Browne will come good - especially given how Bola and Dijksteel have improved this season.1 point

One more Boro v Birmingham fact I meant to add which I came across in one of my scrapbook, we were the 1st team to play at St Andrews in 1906 & the ball is still to this day, kept in a glass container at the ground1 point

I said all along that Carrick would commit to the Boro, I dont think he's done enough for a bigish PL club to take a gamble on him, not knocking MC one bit, im happy he's staying, if it's true, great business by the club, saying that if he has signed you would have thought it would have been made public though
