  1. After a great away win v Forest is it now time to have a visit by our old friends Daniel Ayala, Stewart Downing, Ainsley Pears and Tony Mowbray and the rest of Blackburn. Blackburns last outing was a 1-1 draw v Stoke. They had a game at Ewood Park postponed last Tuesday v Swansea, cause they didn't invest in a nice pitch rain coat like the Sheriff of Nottingham did, so the pitch was moister than an oister. Blackburns star striker this season is Adam Armstrong, so if we can man mark the living daylight out of him, then we should be able to beat this lot. The viking prediction is

  2. Going from £20-£25k a week to £5k is a tremendous hardship. We all tend to live up to our means. Obviously if 99.9% of us on here were offered £5k a week we’d snap their hands off. But footballers will have investments and mortgages up to the ying yang. Not just for their own homes but for others i.e mums& dads, sisters etc. I remember listening to me Lee Hendry about the shame he had when he couldn’t afford the mortgage on his mums house when his career bombed. It got him harder than losing his own home to the point he considered suicide. I hate to see the amount people are ea

  4. Don't know if already mentioned but this was the first league double over Forest for 64 years! Season 55/56 boy what a long wait!

  5. Saville has 4 goals and 4 assists so far this season, just beyond the halfway point. If that form continues, it's finally the sort of return we'd paid the money for.

  6. You can't objectively look at that Birmingham performance and think it was normal for us, can you? It was clear we looked unprepared, unfit and not at the races at all and the one thing you can say for this team is they usually put 100% in every game, it didn't look to be the case vs Birmingham.

  7. This Winger come Striker that Warnock seems confident of getting, it wouldn't be Ashley Fletcher would it with NW having a dry sense of humour?

  8. Well we've started that way in more games than we haven't. We do normally recover and a lot of the time do enough to get the win. Sometimes we don't do enough to turn around our poor start and we lose, hence the inconsistency. I think Birmingham was easily our worst performance of the season but I don't think it's an outlier in terms of the pattern of some of our games this season. Yesterday we started well and kept it going for 90 mins, would be nice to see that consistency across a game more often!

  9. Yes but in the vast majority of those games (except for the two L's before the 3 game streak which I assume are Preston and Stoke?) we've played better than the result indicated. Against Birmingham we were just awful from start to finish and that's the difference I think Covid had.

  10. I'm honestly beginning to wonder if the covid issue was more of a factor in the Brum defeat than I originally thought, to be honest.

  12. 1. Team and formation? Same as the last game, with Watmore the first name on the teamsheet. 2: Is it good to change a winning team? I wouldn't say so, no. So much of football is about confidence, and a winning team develops trust in its component parts. Unless a player is suffering from a knock or fatigue, I'd never change a winning lineup. 3: Will Morsy get another yellow card for just being Morsy? Nailed on. 4: Can Britt follow up on an above par performance? While the transfer window is still open, yes. Expect a return to ballooning shots over the bar fr

  14. @ScarBoro I think they've (Gov website) published Employment Tribunals decisions upto 15th Jan. So we have a few days to wait but it'll be interesting to read the initial full decision.
    1 point
  15. The two are at least partly linked though. If you are dismissed, the dismissal may be unfair because legislation doesn’t allow for dismissal in those circumstances (e.g. because if you are dismissed for getting pregnant or undertaking trade union activities) or because your employment contract doesn’t allow for it. Alternatively, the dismissal may be unfair because although the end result was correct, the employer didn’t follow the rules correctly (e.g. you didn’t get the chance to appeal or the timescales in your contract weren’t followed). In these cases the tribunal can decide you were corr

  16. I much prefer Howson to Mustoe, but we could maybe do with a Stamp or a Cattermole in the middle of the pitch. I’d take Hamilton Ricard over any of our current strikers though.

  17. Am I right in thinking the employment tribunal is more to find out whether the process of him getting the sack was followed correctly. Not necessarily whether he should have been sacked or not? If that's the case the potentially Derby in terms of following the procedures are in the wrong, but their reasoning behind sacking him could be justified. Like I said in my original post I think there is more to come from this and it'll probably take a while to be resolved.

  18. Was only the 3 of them BD. Just those 3 involved.

  19. Surely the fact they were willing to offer him a new contract (even on reduced terms) would significantly work against them? If its gross misconduct then the argument is that what he's done is so bad that they feel unable to allow him to continue doing his job, offering a new contract flies in the face of that. If anything it makes it clear that Derby's motivations were purely financial and nothing to do with disciplining the employee.

  21. I think there's a player in there somewhere!

  22. It definitely affected the players too. Watmore and Britt couldn't start because of it & Warnock now says Johnson shouldn't have played either because he didn't come back till Friday.

  23. Covid-19 definitely affected us for the Birmingham game, if not the players themselves then certainly how it affected our preparations for it.

  24. Really? I don't think we deserved any more points than we have this season tbh, apart from 2 extra points at Blackburn. I think when we've played well we've won and when we've played poorly we've lost.

  25. That's what I heard at the time so I was basing my comments on that. Could well be entirely untrue of course. Although I stand by what I said earlier I don't think he's exactly blameless for the situation, but if he did get differential treatment (regarding getting the sack) compared to the other two, then I hope he does get the pay-out from Derby. I used to play Rugby League with a Semi-Pro Rugby Union player and his union club had it in his contract that he wasn't allowed to play other contact sports. Which of course he was in breach of by playing League with us over in the summer! 😂

  29. Dan, if all three got offered reduced contracts and the others accepted, then I see where your coming from and it does give Derby an argument to fight the tribunal. Of course, it depends what the reduced contracts offered to the other two were, compared to Keogh. I mean, if they halved his wages and took 10% off the others, you still have an issue. With the other two, you would assume they had a transfer value though and they didn’t have to accept a reduced contract, so they could have walked away and signed for someone else on a free and probably got a nice signing on fee and similar wages, m

  36. Excellent bounce back from Saturday. That midfield 3 suits us away from home, but at home I'd like to see us more offensively. Tactically spot on today by Warnock. Britt was awesome today, love him or hate him but his overall performance today was very good. Just a shame it's only 1 in 10 from him and I think it was a performance to showcase his skills to the forest board to make a offer. Tavernier, Howson, Britt, Saville and Bola were absolutely immense tonight. We look so composed with Howson in midfield and there's a good link between midfield and attack with him in the

  38. True, but that isn’t illegal. What the other two did was illegal. By any standard their misconduct was greater, but they weren’t fired. When asked why, Morris put it this way:- if you fired everyone who drink drives, then all someone who wants to leave has to do is get drunk and caught drink driving, then leave on a free and get a big salary increase and singing on fee at another club. He’s right of course, but this sort of explains it. Keogh was expensive, coming to the end of a contact and wouldn’t play again because of his injury, The others were going to be available to play, and we

  39. Maybe he didn’t knew the driver was over the limit. Maybe he trusted the driver when he said he could drive. He could have asked if anyone at the party was sober enough to drive him home as he’d had too much to drink. Still I wouldn’t expect to be sacked because my coworker crashed his car after having too much to drink.

  40. My best friend's a doctor, and he described the symptoms he experienced after the jag as follows: "lethargy, reduced appetite, fever and night sweats. Those are recognised side-effects but they weren't pleasant." On the upside, they only lasted for around 48 hours, and he's very passionate about the benefits of people - even those who aren't clinically vulnerable - getting jabbed.

they are heavily negotiated and normally based on the player matching/exceeding potential, not based on the club just maintaining what they are already upto or likley to do. your not going to be able to just pick things they are likely to do with or without the player anyways, like how many deals to manchester city agree to paying more money if they qualify for the champions league, they aint going to agree to it as the only likely way they don't qualify is most likely due to an FFP situation rather than how they play on the pitch. they are going to likley to agree to pay you more if they play 100/150/200 games for the club or score loads of goals as they are in control of that payment and also it gives value for money for the payment too.  with rogers they are more likely going to be based on achieving stats that make him worth more to the club, like scoring a set amount of goals, playing a set amount of games, playing a set amount of international games, club achievements based on him being involved by a certain % of games played/started - not just what the club does with or without him (epically when he had a decent chance of not stepping up and being sat on the side lines while the club is still doing well enough without him to trigger these payments). we would always push for items that are more likely to be achieved, but the buying club is going to try and make them as hard as possible, and most likely each payment represents an amount of potential achieved that means year we are happy to pay you an extra 1-5m for this player because he is now one of our star players. I can't imagine they agreed to anything that can be achieved in half a season, epically when he was played only started 8 games so far

They had only just qualified from the group stages and while west ham won last season it would still be a huge gamble on our part to have add one related to them winning a European competition.
