  1. MFC v QPR, Friday 17th April 2021 Kick Off: 12.30 Location: The Cellnet Riverside Stadium "Tenth versus Eleventh... Will we see a major swapping of places in the league?" This Saturday, an early kick off showcases a dramatic limp towards the end of the season for two teams that may have harboured promotion hopes at the start of the season. The kick off time was rescheduled following the sudden death of Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh, so as not to clash with his funeral. There really isn't a great deal to play for, for either side in this one. We could swap places

  2. I think the end of pulis's reign was worse for apathy. As much as I dislike warnock, pulis was on a whole other level of negativity.

  3. Coburn not involved at all with the u23s today so looks likely he'll be back on the bench. Hope he gets a little run out.

  4. How I would love Derby to get relegated. Shame I think Rotherham got too much to do in such a short space of time On a side note. What an awful signing Ayala has proven to be for Blackburn. He has barely played for them and they somehow offered him a 3yr deal despite his bad injury record here.

  5. Since January, we've been more mid-table than relegation form. Whether you take that as being from the start or end of January, we're either in 12th or 15th, 5-8 points from the relegation zones , 9-10 points from the play-offs. We've definitely got worse since that time but it's not nearly as significant as relegation form, relative to the rest of the teams in the division.

  6. All three of whom were horribly misused at this club.

  7. We would be mate. If we're within 3 points of the relegation zone were in a relegation battle. In 10 or 15 more games we might not be. But at that point we are.

  8. And that completely ignores the existence of the other 6 teams between us and them. If any of the other 6 teams lose, they'd still be below us. You're talking about a relegation battle beginning after 18 or so games essentially including the entire bottom half of the league and deciding we're in the thick of it.

  9. We'd be one loss for us and one win for the 22nd placed team away from being on the same points as them. That's a relegation battle.

  10. But there'd still be at least 6 teams between us and relegation even if you take it from the end of January and really not a hugely significant difference between the gap to 6th vs. the gap to 21st. It's midtable form.

  11. We've had 17 points from 14 games since January. 3rd bottom is exactly on 1 point per game. So we're really not far off.

  12. He has a cousin of his dads I believe posts on FMTTM. From his posts I don’t think Charlie fancies coming back.

  14. Agree with this and considering the above, we still had something to play for under Pulis. Mad that this doesn't feel anywhere near as bad as that time.

  15. First year since Karanka's first season, if I'm recalling it correctly, quite a significant sum of time yeah. Since then we've battled for automatics or play-offs most seasons and twice trying to avoid relegation, once in this division and once in the PL.

  16. If we start like we've been since January Warnock will be gone by Christmas and we'll be in a relegation battle.

  18. The absence of posts really says it all, doesn't it? I know we've been in worse form in the past, but I can't remember such apathy and indifference surrounding the Boro before. Even if everyone knows kick off has been brought forward tomorrow, I doubt many people will be paying much attention. I know I won't. I'd rather spend time with my family than spend half the afternoon listening to Boro going through the motions. Badly.

  19. I don't think either of them is in any way better than our level either. They're good for a top half championship side but they wouldn't see a minute in the premier league. Maybe in a few years Time, but for now definitely not

  21. Sorry, it wasn't an automatic increase to his salary, it was an automatic extension on his same salary.

  22. https://www.mfc.co.uk/news/team-news-pre-season-the-target-for-fry-and-tavernier Still no match thread so I'll put it here. Fry and Tav probably won't play again this season going off that, can't say I blame Warnock for not wanting to risk them with nothing to play for.

    • Whilst accepting "Barbie Girl" is a parody, I have to agree that AR is right about admitting to singing it...  though I would have had more respect for SD if he had chosen "My Ding-a-ling" 🙂
    • I disagree that we don't have players good enough to play the ball in a more controlled and purposeful way, particularly since the January transfer window. I wouldn't say any of our defenders are particularly bad on the ball at all, and all of our forwards/wingers thrive with the ball at their feet, not in the air. Not to mention we probably have the worst keeper in the league at long balls. The way we play is completely counter to our individual players strengths and it's purely because it's the only way our manager  knows how to play.
    • we need the players to play with it on the group in tight areas to. most of our squad players dont and just lump it. because of the instructions they are given. that is probably because like we seen under woodgate, they are not good enough to play and will lose possession and cause us problems. the main thing with woodgate tactics was losing the ball and instantly putting ourselves in trouble and outnumbering with guys all over the shop. NW stopped that by making us more rigid in shape and telling them to not dally and lump it over the top. at least that's how i see it in a simplified way.
    • We need a lot of those things but the thing we need the most is a new approach and intent. We won't get promoted from this league playing percentage football, hoping that luck falls on our side every game.
    • I'm surprised to see May miss out of the squad I feel even when not on form he is still capable of producing something.  Sexton is another big omission although that one is more understandable given Russell's form right now. On that note it was refreshing to see the form player getting selected. But I did think leadership and experience might have edged Sexton in. It will be interesting to see how Simmonds does having continually being left out by Jones for England despite arguably being the best forward in the country right now.
