  1. Just because Norwich have got promoted again under the same manager doesn't change that sacking Karanka was the right call that, if anything, was made too late. The atmosphere Farke has had throughout the past couple of years hasn't been negative from what I've seen, even in facing relegation. Karanka had lost the plot though, there's nothing about how those final few months had gone that would have in any way lead me to believe we were going to come straight back up under his tenure. Gibson rightly took the job from him, he wasn't the right man for it any more. It's a shame he still hasn

  2. My question is: Should a manager who is on the verge of retirement and who, despite being backed in the transfer market, has led us to an anonymous league finish, be backed for a promotion charge? I’m veering towards no. It’s hardly a stunning revelation but Warnock being here is a symptom of the deeper issues at the club: lack of long term vision/complete inability to adapt to football’s changing landscape etc etc

  3. The thing is though the way we played that first 30.mins was we chased worked hard to win the ball back then kicked it long for them to pass around us. We won it back tried a quick break by kicking it long down the channels lose it again. Spend another 3 mins trying to win it back to only kick it long again. We have got to learn how to keep the ball better

  4. That's how you do it stick with the same players who have done nothing and let us down in recent weeks, the players should have come out to Chris Rea's On the Beach rather than Pig Bag.

  5. I'm not so fussed about the keeper, I think we've still got things to learn about him in a real-game environment and he's done alright with the things he's actually had to do today. He's still under our contract and we need 2 keepers next season as things stand so if he can stay and fill one of those gaps for us, gives us less to do this summer. But we've just thrown on a nothing player, somebody we know for sure is leaving this summer, vs. giving a young lad who tactically seems to make more sense than any of the other options we have. Or even Akpom, at least he's here next season and ha

  7. Sod this I am off, why did Warnock do that play a defensive formation and put no kids in the team who actually have something to play as its their chance to prove their abilities? This was warnocks chance to entertain the fans, give them a spectacle but played decent football then nobody would complain. In other words end the season on a high and see what hes got for fringe players for next season, that he could introduce if they performed. I have just lost so much respect for him now, his plan was to grind out a 1-0 that certainly wasn't qpr intention they set out to attack and press see

  8. What a sad state of play this season has ended, a team that gave us a glimmer of hope regressing into a disjointed and un organised bunch of individuals whose only fortee is to pass backwards or hoof in hope. This would have been relegation form and sorry NW must take a huge slice of blame. Massive clear out needed and I acknowledge that we have our best players unavailable but this lot is a sorry shower representing MFC. Goodness knows what another season of NW will bring

  9. Those in defence of Warnock believe that he'll be backed this summer, and if he is, he'll take us up. I believe he should have put this team in the play-offs this season but then I know generally those that continue to back him now aren't of the same mind, they think he's done the best he can and that mid-table was best we could hope for. But he's now saying the job in the summer is even bigger than he first mentioned, spreading our resources even thinner across the board. After the last few years, who on here is convinced that Warnock gets the entire squad he wants this summer? If he doe

  10. My point is: We've known about Britt's lack of professional integrity for some time now. It's been painfully evident in the performances he's turned in. Unless Warnock is deaf and blind he must have noticed it too. With that in mind, what competent manager would even put him on the bench, let alone use him as a sub? In that scenario you have to question the manager's competence over the player's attitude IMO.

  11. Well I've said it before and I'll say it again. My thinking is that Gibson simply sees Warnock as a reasonably safe pair of hands, to keep us mid-table in the Championship, until such time as he can find a new manager who he's prepared to back for a promotion push. I wouldn't get your hopes up for next season...I reckon it'll just be a repeat of this one.

  12. We've improved but it's unforgivable how we start every single game on the back foot regardless of opposition

  14. He certainly hasn't minced his words after today. I'd go so far as to say in his press conference, he's making a point to call out people who don't want to be here. I really have to ask who he means though. He's mentioned quite a lot of people by name in a relatively positive manner. He's very happy with Hall, McNair, Howson and Watmore, says they'll enjoy next season when he's got the squad he wants. Archer he's said has been working hard and from as much as 10 days ago, he'd promised him he'd be in for this one and for a couple of games. Spence, he's dragged through the mud today for th

  15. Its a real shame about Aitor. I think he has a great footballing brain and judging from his time with us, he's also a half-decent coach. What lets him down is he just doesn't have the man management skills to keep a disparate bunch of personalities functioning as a harmonious group. He had to go when he did. Farke on the other hand seems to be able to juggle the competing interests / demands of his squad very well.

  16. I think it's a lot simpler than that. He doesn't need money and I really get the feeling he's not been thinking about the salary at all whilst he's been here. I think he likes managing more than perhaps he let himself believe back when he first decided he was going to retire. I think he likes working with Gibson, someone he always has and continues to respect as an owner and as a person. And I think he genuinely believes he can take us up and is trying to do that. I don't think he'd still be in the game if he didn't think he could offer us anything. The question is whether he ca

  17. Just back from the park, and read the entire thread to see how we got on today. God, it's depressing. The biggest concern I have about Warnock is his ongoing inability to motivate the players. They chucked it weeks ago, and he seems either unable or unwilling to inspire them beyond mediocrity. There's enough of his signings in the squad to negate the excuse of having to work with anyone else's players, so what's going to be different next season?

  18. Oh and to take a moment to be a little positive about today, we did create enough chances to win the game despite the general crap game that it was. Bolasie should score from Watmore's pull-back, Lumley made two incredible saves from Saville and what looked like a nick off Barbet and I'm not overly sure about the law but I think it's daft that Bolasie isn't given his goal from when their keeper got sent off. There's surely still an advantage whilst there's an open goal to put the ball into.

  19. Very disappointing result. We should have got at least a draw from the amount of chances we had. We need to stop starting games so poorly and only starting to play when we go one or two down.

  20. Well that was atrocious. They may aswell have kept there man on the field, it'd of made no difference. The future is bleak! Gibson giving NW a contract extension without merit sums up how poorly run this club is from top to bottom.

  25. Pretty much, yeah. Don't blame anyone, to be honest. Things opening up again here, nothing to play for and we're playing like it most the time, seems like a nice day today in the North East today so plenty will be making the most of that right now!

  28. Wish Warnock would **** off. Can’t take another season of the same shocking ‘football’. We haven’t even had a kick for 15 minutes at home to QPR and it’s the same story every week.

  31. As a fan I want to finish as high up the table as possible would have preferred 7th spot so to be the best of the rest so to speak but that needs progression and not regression as 2021 has shown so far! In answer to your questions the "players" who Warnock will sign before start of season will not be bothered whatsoever because we will only get what we will get!

  32. Does anyone think we'd be a more appealing proposition to a prospective signing if we finished 8th rather than 12th? I know it's a low priority compared to wages, contract length, etc, but I do wonder if missing out on the playoffs by a smaller amount infers a greater prospect of getting into them next season.

  33. Massive 6 pointer to see who gets to finish in the coveted top of mid table spot! Hate games like this where the season has fizzled out early. If we play really well, I'll be annoyed we didn't play like that when we had a chance, and if we play poorly, I'll be annoyed that we played poorly... Id certainly like to see some of the young lads given a chance. Brynn in goal and Coulson in no 10 if Warnock thinks he might work there.

  34. How I would love Derby to get relegated. Shame I think Rotherham got too much to do in such a short space of time On a side note. What an awful signing Ayala has proven to be for Blackburn. He has barely played for them and they somehow offered him a 3yr deal despite his bad injury record here.

  35. Thought we played at three o’clock. Oh well can’t say that I really care. Warnock has sucked the joy out of everything like Pulis did. Another year of his disaster football to go through. This is probably the lowest I’ve felt about boro ever. When Pulis was here there was always the thought that it would get better when he left. It didn’t and we’re just getting worse and worse by every week. Atrocious club management from everyone that has a say at the club.

  36. I just can't see how its going to happen myself...the promotion push, that is. This season has shown just how far short we are of doing a Norwich, or a Watford...or even a Bournemouth. Warnock is literally going to need an entire squad's worth of signings, both to give us the quality we need and strength in depth to cope with injuries etc. Unless Gibson has a secret £15-20m stashed away somewhere, he hasn't told anyone about, I really struggle to see how we're supposed to build a promotion-winning squad. On top of that, even in the unlikely event of Gibson letting Neil go o

  37. But based on what we've seen this season...and assuming we're not suddenly able to assemble a Championship All-Star squad, do you think we have a cat in hell's chance of even making the play-offs? There's been plenty of misleading noise from the club in the past. This is something I'll have to see before I believe it.

  39. While the grandchild has a nap I hate to say it but I am watching the skunks. Yep the NW affect has me watching any football but BORO. So what I can gather we started off on the back foot again, no surprise there, but now starting to give it a go but missing chances, again no surprise there either. Despite the many signings we fizzled out and are headed for a mid table finish many predicted. No surprise there either. It’s not going to help sell next season tickets is it. Over to you SG..

  40. I'd add our young keeper too. Why the hell we playing one of the worst journeyman around instead of giving some minutes to a highly rated youngster.

  42. Britt is sodding off. What on Earth do we have to gain from giving him 10 minutes here. Even if he bags a hat-trick and turns a loss into a win, what could we possibly achieve from this.

  43. So is anyone going to let us blame Spence for that, or are people going to have a problem with it like usual?

  48. I haven't missed a game this season so far, but I was questioning watching the rest of them. I might if some of the young lads were involved to see what they are like. But I don't know if i want to watch the same old gutless, rubbish players for the remaining games.

Nothing in it for us except help prevent Leeds getting into an automatic spot.

The issue isn't playing out from the back, the issue is decision making on when, where and how.  If the opponents are closing, down, swarming and pressurising it can be effective by unlocking them and catching them up field however it is also far more likely to result in being bullied out of possession, putting us at risk or as we seen recently a poor ball to O'Brien leaving us stuffed. Having outlets making and creating space and time is crucial whether you play out from the back or go long. Simply hoofing it isn't the answer any more than playing a suicide ball to a player being rapidly closed down 20 yards out from our own goal. It's not the tactic that's at fault, it's the application and implementation of it which comes down to the skill, intelligence, awareness and ability of individuals. Chuba was great at holding the ball up and playing in team mates, we don't have that skill set this season and it's showed, having a Giles to be unleashed down the left hasn't been available this season, both were key to how we played last season. The loss of those outlets haven't helped us and those are just two examples. That said with the speed of Jones and ELL, playing it long can also be a serious threat to our opposition but neither tactic will work if players aren't looking up, alert and aware of their next pass/movement and to me that is the biggest difference between last season's passing it out from the back and this season. We passed out at speed and with cutting accuracy last season, this year we seem less confident, hesitant, slow and have created more problems for ourselves on many occasions because of it.  The massive summer upheaval in personnel hasn't helped and confidence and belief won't have helped with the start to the season that ensued. I'm sure many of the new signings were less than convinced as we set that record poor start statistic. Over time it's improved but nowhere close to our ability to pass out that we had last season, hence the frustrations and discussions.

I'd quite happily take a draw now, it keeps them down, keeps the unbeaten run going and keeps things very interesting in the promotion race.

What team would you pick? Dieng Dijksteel VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Azaz ELL Silvera Based purely upon who has been fit enough to be starting or on the bench recently. With his contract situation I can't see Paddy being risked unless he is totally match ready plus the Player himself wouldn't want to risk injury, bit of a gamble for me. What's your favourite thing about Leeds? Car showrooms, I have bought quite a few Cars from dealers in and around Leeds. What are the odds on Bamford cheating yet again? I'd be disappointed if he did but with the stakes so high for Leeds I guess if he see's an opportunity he'll go down quicker than Pally F*nny. Will we derail their promotion push even further? I suspect another draw, Leeds have been spluttering so we could take them but without Ayling our supply line is severely restricted (never thought I'd be thinking let alone saying that when we signed him). Do we want them in the Championship next season is maybe another way to approach the game?
