  1. This right here shows the utter greed and total lack of respect and consideration for the very people who helped make their clubs what they are today. Utterly abhorrent. God this is making me so angry...

  3. Thing is, we've heard time and time again throughout his stay here how popular and important Assombalonga has been in the changing room. He's a popular figure within the squad. You also hear nothing but good reports about Fletcher... Until Warnock takes charge. I've never liked Warnock as a person. I've defended him a little on here for the work he's done - especially with players like Dijksteel and Bola. But for a considerable time now performances have been substandard, tactics and team selections have been baffling, and some of our most influential players have been hounded in public.

  4. The last thing we need is the rich clubs getting richer and a bigger gulf emerging in football. Hope it's a flop. Completely meaningless competition if no other teams can get into it either.

  5. Scene 1: Ext (Evening). [Neil Warnock, Kevin Blackwell and their wives are sitting in patio chairs under a full moon. A half-eaten sherry trifle slowly melts beside the patio heater] MRS B: And that was when the budgie fell into the mince! [Everyone laughs apart from Warnock, who is staring into space] MRS W: It’s so nice to be socialising again, even if it is outside. We had some great nights back in Rotherham, didn’t we? MRS B: Best three months of my life. I really miss catching up without watching the bushes in case the neighbours are spying on our car in the drive

  6. Great post, OP! 1. Who makes your starting XI? Brynn Fisher Hall McNair Bola Howson Saville NML Bolasie Watmore Coburn 1a. Why do some people still write 11 as XI when talking about football teams? Same reason as to why the Superbowl does, it looks cool. 2. Who was the last Boro signing (including loans and re-signings) that you were excited to see in our starting XI? Excited? Traore, without a doubt. 3. Will we get promoted next season if the European Super League mean

  7. Which is everything that's wrong with football now. Chasing the money of people with no connection to the area and club over the people who should be at the forefront of every decision. Don't want to speak too strongly in their favour as they could yet u-turn, but I'm really proud of the stance taken by the German clubs, and I expect part of that is due to 50+1.

  9. I avoided reading warnocks post match interview over the weekend as I really couldn't be bothered, but just caught up today. This quote sums the man up in its entirety - “I am sure if you spoke to two or three they will say I was the problem. Because they blame everyone else don’t they? That’s natural for footballers. I am not the problem. I have to solve the problem.” He has lost 21 league games since becoming manager 50 games ago and not once has it ever been his fault. Not once has he raised his hands up to say he made the mistakes. It's always other people's faults and he's not e

  10. Damn - thats what I call "big picture" thinking. Fancy a job on the Boro board? 😉 The scary thing is it does sound entirely plausible. A World Soccer Superleague...like the Champions League on a hefty dose of steroids, with all the glitz and glamour of the NFL or cricket T20 competitions. Possibly even half time shows by the trendiest pop acts. Makes me want to 🤮🤮🤮 Call me an old fogey but I'm in the camp that believes history is what makes sports teams. Its about the highs and lows, achievements and setbacks, the memories of fans, rivalries with other teams etc. Of

  11. The clubs in question are mostly owned by billionaires and VC firms who have seen their profits hit by the pandemic. I keep hearing Real Madrid are effectively bankrupt. To people like the Glazers, football clubs exist solely as a money-making machine, but the machine's been jammed over for a year, so it's time to invent a new machine. Fans be damned. Pundits be damned. Regulators be damned. Politicians be damned. History be damned. Competition be damned. The Premier League was never going to be enough for these scumbags. Nor was the Champions League. Even the nauseating ESL won't be enou

  12. All coming out at a time when these 'big 6' can't even concrete their position within the upper echelons of domestic competition. Spurs can't even win the title in its current format, never mind being thrown in amongst other elite sides every week. AC Milan have only just come back into the picture after the better part of a decade of being Serie A fodder, too. Barcelona are on the verge of bankruptcy so their motivations are desperate. I do think that FIFA essentially saying they won't recognise players involved, to the point they may lose their right to represent their countries, is a k

  14. MJ wrote the following lyrics in reference to how Gibson has run the Boro for the last 10 years..."I'm asking him to change his ways And no message could have been any clearer If you want to make the world a better place Take a look at yourself, and then make a change". Well ahead of his time! 😂

  16. That term is probably the worst part of this whole thing. I hope they get kicked out of the leagues and driven out of playing their games in the "legacy" cities. if they want the American model so badly, they should move to another place and become a franchise.

  19. Of all the offensive aspects of this proposal, it's the use of the phrase "legacy fans" that really makes bile creep up my throat. As if Qatari and Chinese subscribers to ESL+ TV will be more valid than people who actually support(ed) the clubs.

  25. It does seem like the timing is just quite convenient to the discussion as opposed to a genuine link, yeah. The reports I'd read were them saying they're worried about losing out on the Champions League which is why they were considering getting rid. God knows why they're worried about that, they don't want to be part of the Champions League, they want to sod off anyway. Doesn't matter who's in charge if your main source of income is permanently available.

  29. This whole idea and the reaction to it is laughable. We've got fans and pundits saying the game is finished/ its all about money/ its totally unfair. When has this not been the case for the last 20 years? The game had gone well before this idea, we already had the rich clubs getting richer and teams on the fringes of the top flight having no chance of ever competing again. How can you call the Premier league a fair competition when Burnley and Fulham have to compete with the financial might of Man City? Its like having the hundred metres race in the Olympics with someone starting a

  31. The fact is that there are direct quotes from NW that Dijksteel is one of his favourites and that he misses Tav when he's injured, compared to your quote, where he is clearly talking about the guys currently showing the right characteristics he wants in his team. It's absolutely pathetic that you think this has anything to do with race.

  40. Brilliant! You should be a script writer. 👏 Questions for the audience: 1. Who makes your starting XI? The entire U23 team 1a. Why do some people still write 11 as XI when talking about football teams? I'm guessing because Roman numerals just look classier? 2. Who was the last Boro signing (including loans and re-signings) that you were excited to see in our starting XI? Probably Darren Randolph...wait no, that was relieved not excited. I'll go with Patrick Bamford. 3. Will we get promoted next season if the European Super Le

  41. It's like I said yesterday, they want franchises, where the actual location becomes far less important, and is simply about widening the potential broadcasting revenues. At the moment, the biggest/richest clubs in the world happen to be based in a handful of countries in Europe but there are billions of people who don't live in those countries. Why care about a Merseyside derby? Why care about basing your team in Liverpool at all? Put it in New York or Shanghai or Cairo. Have a global competition for the global fans, with kick off times spread out so everyone can watch a game at a conveni

  43. 50+1 would be an awesome improvement in football, from PL to grassroots level, but how can this be retrospectively applied (especially in a hurry) to an industry where clubs are entirely owned by foreign billionaires with squadrons of lawyers salivating at any prospect of legal battles?

    • we need the players to play with it on the group in tight areas to. most of our squad players dont and just lump it. because of the instructions they are given. that is probably because like we seen under woodgate, they are not good enough to play and will lose possession and cause us problems. the main thing with woodgate tactics was losing the ball and instantly putting ourselves in trouble and outnumbering with guys all over the shop. NW stopped that by making us more rigid in shape and telling them to not dally and lump it over the top. at least that's how i see it in a simplified way.
    • We need a lot of those things but the thing we need the most is a new approach and intent. We won't get promoted from this league playing percentage football, hoping that luck falls on our side every game.
    • I'm surprised to see May miss out of the squad I feel even when not on form he is still capable of producing something.  Sexton is another big omission although that one is more understandable given Russell's form right now. On that note it was refreshing to see the form player getting selected. But I did think leadership and experience might have edged Sexton in. It will be interesting to see how Simmonds does having continually being left out by Jones for England despite arguably being the best forward in the country right now.
    • with fry playing we never seem to get done in behind the defense. without him it seems nearly every game. dijksteel and tavs work rate and energy on the right side. they dominated every team we played on that side. we missed one of them but once both were out team never looked the same. next season if we keep bolasie and he is linking with tav and has dijksteel over lapping all the space those two will create i'm sure he would be thriving. we get the correct forward in with him and i'm positive for next season. easier said than done though. we need a keeper who is competent in shot stopping and commanding his area.
    • Starting with the backs, no massive surprises in terms of who has been selected, barring Aki and Daly. But Daly can cover nearly every backline position, so it makes some sense in taking him, then it makes sense Aki is going as he fills a Tuliagi/Roberts shaped hole of previous tours. The biggest surprise in the backs for me is not having at least one or two of J.Davies, Slade or Ringrose. The forwards is where there are some big omissions; James Ryan, Billy V, CJ Stander or Underhill plus a very distinct lack of English props. Lawes being included despite his injury is a strange one, then Conan and Hill are two big surprises for me too. Sam Simmonds being involved is not a shock at all for me. I do not envy the selectors at all!
