  1. In an ideal world, when Warnock leaves we should go in the direction of Norwich with a Sporting Director who controls the footballing operations. However, as that involves Steve Gibson giving upon decision-making power and embracing the modern ways of football, I can't imagine that's going to happen whilst he remains our owner. History suggests that when Warnock leaves we're going to knee-jerk into a completely different direction, and perform even worse on the pitch before we knee-jerk into the previous direction. Whilst Warnock keeping on as a psuedo Director of Football/Sporting Direct

  2. Appreciate the kind words. This is my first year fully in the league and to be honest has kept me going through some tough times. Happy to have helped out. Will definitely be here next season

  3. A grand job there Blanc's yet another feather in that hat of yours. 🙂 And Youngy like many have already posted, you also have done a great job taking over and resurrecting the prediction league. On a personal note you have my thanks mate, I hope you carry it on for many more seasons to come.

  5. Out of the players that are out of contract I think the only one we definitely want to re-sign is Bolasie. I'm quite content with our starting 11 next season being built largely around a 4-3-3 core of: GK (new); Dijksteel, 2 CB's of McNair, Hall and Fry, Bola; Howson, Saville, Tavernier; Watmore, Bolasie and ST (new). We desperately need a first choice goalkeeper. Thankfully there seems to be quite a few good options available who are out of contract or likely to be available on loan. Then there's a back up keeper if Archer leaves too. When we've been without Bola or enough CB's fit

  6. On the bright side mate, we've got Neil on the phone to a few agents he knows trying to sort out a few hand-shakes before summer. Swings and roundabouts!

  7. Great article...and I have to say this paragraph in particular stood out for me: Head Coach...Sporting Director...Head of Recruitment... Doesn't mention anything about a chairman. I'm sure its not the only way to run a successful football club these days, but it does highlight the need for specialist knowledge in different fields. None of which Gibson or his cronies appear to have. Also this... Can you imagine Boro managing to do anything like this with our current set-up? Almost makes you want to cry, doesn't it?

  8. I think the thing I like most about Bolasie is that while he can be mentioned as a similar player to all of those, he seems very positive, professional and, from how things seem on social media, very popular amongst the squad. Would love it if we can keep him next year.

  9. The first half was a bit non existent for me. Second was better. Overall game was not great if am honest but always happy when we bag 3pts Bolasie was our best performer in my view. Hall also did well. Coburn took the headlines obviously. Archer pulled off a great save from Reach a minute before half time when game was 1-1. I personally thought that was a key moment but seems Archer did not get plaudits he maybe deserved for that in media.

  10. This is off the top of my head and typed quickly so I'm sure there will be inaccuracies. It was a simply awful first half by both sides. You could have thrown a football into Bambi and his mates on an ice rink, and they'd have shown better ability to retain possession and technical quality. Our opening goal came courtesy of Bolasie intelligently pouncing on a heavy first touch by Borner to sprint past him and strike the ball via a deflection into the top corner. Sheffield Wednesday then won a penalty via Andre Green driving at McNair and beating him far too easily only to then coax Bola i

  11. Poor first half (both teams), much better second half - Played with more attacking intent. Coburn a good focal point when he came on. Bolasie was quick and powerful - stole the ball well for his goal, ran into the box and smashed it in (with the help of a deflection mind). Hall did well too. Can't think of anyone who was particularly poor.

  12. A fine achievement with a couple of games to go!

  13. Same. Backing Spurs purely for Ryan Mason I could not have cared less if Jose was in charge but Ryan Mason deserves everyones well wishes after what he has been through in recent years. Since his forced retirement from the game he has appeared as a pundit on few occasions and comes across as a very down to earth, likeable lad.

  15. Currently a regular for Benfica so doubt he will come here. We defo need a maverick game changer. Someone who can turn a game in our favour with just a little bit of magic. Like a Merson, Tomlin or Ramirez etc that we had at this level in past. Maybe Bolasie might be that player unless Warnock got a trick up his sleeve.

  16. Depending what happens with Johnson we deffo need a left back

  17. That just isn't true. Our expectations for youth players are often warped by the rise of the occasional teenage wunderkind. The reality is that the vast majority of players don't see proper 1st team action until their early 20s. Plenty of world class players were absolutely nowhere in their teenage years.

  18. I definitely think we've seen somewhat of an upward trend with his match fitness levels. If he's willing to take the big paycut I'd almost certainly have him back as it stands. Remains to be seen whether we will have the resources and pull to snap him up whilst also funding other important transfers though. He seems happy but he generally seems like quite a positive person anyway.

  19. Probably too early for Kavanagh unless he has an absolute monster start to next season. Robinson, Kokolo, Hackney, Fletcher, Dodds, Gibson, Folarin, Jones & Brynn. I would guess he's talking about a few out of this group.

  20. Yet another great write up about Norwich City being incredibly well run off the pitch: https://www.skysports.com/football/story-telling/11095/12280448/how-norwich-built-the-team-to-get-straight-back-to-the-premier-league

  22. Woodgate has a cushty job now and fell on his feet with Tindall being sacked. Did he make us better when he was in control of the training plan and team sheet? No. The football was dreadful and we had no pattern of play in any sense of the word. A good coach can assess his squad and adapt to get the best out of the players at his disposal. With us he didn’t do that but a Bournemouth team littered with better players, it’s criminal if he doesn’t get them up anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

  23. We don't have a good squad and we don't have the finances to build a good squad.

  24. Not likely. At the moment Woody is just proving he's the Championship version of Guardiola. I think Gibson is at least savvy enough to realise he needs a manager that can still do well with an average squad.

  26. It’s going to depend a lot on what Bolasie wants to do. We won’t break the wage structure anymore- those days are gone. Hence Fletcher leaving. Bolasie will definitely have bigger contract offers from overseas so it depends on how much he buys into Warnocks project.

  27. Perez actually hinted in his interview that the trickle down would be because the big bois could pay more for smaller teams' players. Absolute clown.

  28. When is a joke not a joke? When is a glib statement not glib? When should we accept that others opinions and view points are not our own instead of arguing the case with clever word smithery and not quite crossing the line? Well we have had plenty of that of late and for the first time in a long time I have had to lock a thread and a match day one at that because the contents have turned very sour and bitter indeed because of all of the above. So enough is enough and from this point onwards anything mentioned that can be construde by others as being possibly racist in conte

Hackney hasn't been in the squad the last two games after making a fleeting appearance on the bench a couple of weeks ago. He's not ready to start a game. I think it'll be mcnair in for ayling like you say but I reckon vdb starts at right back like early on in the season. The rest will be unchanged but with greenwood in for silvera.

If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway. I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and Engel - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trusting him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us) Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or Gilbert there: Dieng Paddy VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Silveria LL Azaz
