  1. Except they weren't.. they had a poor run in but were still relegated because no action was taken against a club breaking the rules by fielding an illegally registered player who scored vital goals for them. I get that some people don't like NW and that he is often economical with the truth, but can you imagine that sometimes he may just have a point.

  2. Okay, I've slept on it now. I've had a chance to calm down about the events of yesterday and be rational about things. Warnock is a *** tit.

  3. Adding on to what people have said, and I’ve said it lots before as well. But I just feel nothing but emptiness for us as a club now. From Pulis to now it has been an absolute *** show. The football this season has been atrocious. The football since Pulis has been dull, long ball and not enjoyable. Gibson must have seen this is the case? But then doubles down on the appointment of Warnock on a long term basis. It made perfect sense to bring Warnock in and keep us up. I could even see the argument of keeping Warnock for a season of nothingness to stabilise us. However, what a

  4. I can't say that I am dreading next season but I do have apathy towards it in much the same way as I have felt for the last eight or nine games of this season which grew in intensity to literally watching three goals go in against us today and I may just as well have been watching Rochdale versus Accrington. No disrespect to those two sides but I literally have no interest in either of their fortunes nor could I tell you where they are in the League ( or even if they are in the same League)! Normally I would have been apoplectic and losing it but I smiled when Wycombe's first went in and

  9. Probably the biggest mistake Gibson has made since appointing Woodgate was giving Warnock a season-long contract extension earlier this year. Warnock saved us from League One, but the last few games show he doesn't have the tactical acumen to save us from the Championship as well. And his endless distortion of the truth is becoming increasingly unpalatable. Every manager tells porkies, but there's a world of difference between "I didn't see it" and "I didn't have any strikers all season".

  10. I was busy this afternoon, so I decided to avoid the results and wait for the highlights on Quest. After watching teams with far less talented players (and far less experienced managers) giving their all for the shirt, I've just watched an absolutely diabolical performance from Boro. And I think it cements the need for a change of management - yet again, Gibson has got a critically important appointment totally wrong. I genuinely wanted Neil Warnock to succeed at this club, and I hope that the mini-plays I've written as MDTs this season reflected my affection for the man. Tonight, I'm sit

  11. @Borolad1876 i agree. Kebano was ok but not too fussed on him. Bolasie in his 15 appearances got 3 goals and 4 assists having not kicked a ball for 6mths prior to arriving. Over a full season with a proper season I would be confident he could get close to double figures for both goals and assists. BUT if his wages are too high then I wont lose any sleep over him not coming as he not the be all and end all for me. NML for me is a strange one. I cant help but think with a full pre season he could prove to be very useful. Odd thing to say has he done next to nothing since being here but

  13. The last winger we signed after playing with Warnock at Cardiff turned out so well... Another 31 year old looking a last pay day who hasn't performed in the last couple of years. Couldn't get into an average Cardiff team this season. So utterly unimaginative, like everything else this club does. (If it goes through of course)

  14. A long slow dripping punishment may actually be more painful and damaging for the Rams. I know if it was Boro I would rather have got it over with and out of the way rather than waste a futile season in the way the Owls just have (accepting that they very nearly survived). I would reckon that with such an axe dangling over the club any prospective new owner would be a tad hesitant in splashing any cash in Mel's direction. If they do start next season with a huge points deduction then that will be a tough ask in attracting any new Manager or Player. Off the pitch, financially the impact wi

  15. Of course not but a thin squad to begin with didn't help and having to replace aging crocks with new blood also factors in, are we expecting too much too soon or just not able to face reality. Might have been different if money was coming in, but it isn't and if anything will make it worse, it is people deciding they've had enough. who knows, this time next year we could be celebrating (one way or the other). The standard lecture to prospective Boro supporters always included the line, "This club will break your heart" and whilst we have been lucky in one way to see success for a while, it is

  16. Given that Howe would cost the equivalent of six Championship players, then his team would like double that, so we would be faced with a choice of a decent management team that would have no cash for players or the possibility of a decent foundation for whoever comes in when money starts to flow again. As the priority is likely to be ensuring survival, then we have the choice of gritting our teeth and supporting our team or turning our backs and walking away. Being beyond hope, I can't do the latter, so like every other time, I will wait it out because things can only get better.. hopefully

  17. Well played everyone! Congrats to @Blanco on the title. Commiserations to @Maccarone for coming up short despite having the most correct predictions. Well done to all the regular predictors - it’s been a good season. For now, on to the Euro’s.....Will start a thread for next year’s league soon. Hope to see everyone predicting again 😀

  20. Had an update on the GK that I mentioned a week ago - the lad has three offers on the table, us and two other clubs that are currently involved in promotion/relegation battles. We were hoping to have him up on Monday for a medical, wanting it locked away quickly but not sure it’s going to happen that soon.

  23. I have never understood the logic of “why are we signing someone for a promotion push who wont be good enough for the PL” Can we at least get to PL first? Every single team that gets promoted has some players that are not good enough for PL but definitely good enough for championship. Idea is to build a team for promotion. And in relation to Spence and Coulson being wingers. Just absolutely no from me. This board has rightly criticised Warnock for using spence as a winger this season so lets not suggest doing something which we as fans have rightly been criticising all

  26. Dan no doubt Gatland has decided if you cannot match the physicality of the South Africans there's no point in going. It seems to me that there is not a lot of time going to be spent playing "pretty" rugby. He's learnt from the England defeat ( and others) that these guys are efficient, strong and prepared to do what is necessary to dominate. He has also spotted what he thinks is a weakness he can exploit. He might also think he can exploit them around the fringes late in the game hence Curry and Simmons not to mention Itoje, Byrne and Lawes who can be a nuisance from minute 0ne.

  37. I can't believe Warnock came out yesterday and said "the fans won't mind today or be botherd about today" that really irked me. If we got stuffed 3-0 but the young players were playing at least we would have seen what they were like over the course of a full 90 Malley & Coburn did get more time but Robinson & Hackney were brought on sarcastically for me. They had there flip flops on yesterday which was frustrating we could of ended the season with a win or draw and been unbeaten going into next season.

  38. This, right here! The man is an absolute con artist. Unfortunately, some Boro fans lap up the absolute *** he comes out with and ignore the fact that we are going backwards with him in charge. Why doesn’t he do us all a favour and actually follow through with retiring from management? No matter how bad things have got over the last 10/15 years I’ve always looked forward to the new season with hope but I can honestly say that for the first time ever I’m absolutely dreading next season.

  40. We were relegated with Pearson as captain as well as promoted though. Robson wasn't captain, he was our manager, unless you mean Barry Robson but I'm not sure we were all that successful while he was here. While Bryan Robson was captain at Man Utd they were relatively unsuccessful until right at the end of his time there. Ince was captain for three seasons I think, where we never finished higher than 12th, and one of the seasons was the one where Venables stepped in as we were terrible, and looking like certs to be relegated, so clearly his captaincy wasn't helping us much. Captaincy m

  42. Just to follow up on this because I'm still fuming - he talks about not having strikers all season. One he signed and claimed he was his number one target, one he made his captain, and one he talked about offering a good new contract to. Pure and utter propaganda. Unbelievable that anyone listens to a word he has to say with any credence.

Watching the Boro lose 0-4 at Ayresome was a salutary lesson on the first match of the season in 1953 I'll not be watching tonight to see how bad we were. I always omit viewing again the bad days. We seem to forget that last season was awful and Warnock saved us. We've finished 10th Boro fans have usually been the same - he's a great player - he's rubbish. Often its the same player and two weeks apart My advice would be relax have a good few weeks off, recharge the B

  45. At home against the bottom club and not a shot on target. I could not give a flying £@@k what other people think but I for one think it unacceptable and a grovelling NW explanation is required. The club is a £@@king joke from top to bottom and I don't see it being any better next season. Well its always next season, always excuses and this ageing dinosaur wont change things next season either.
