  1. These idiots kicking off about Alex Scott are clueless, she has a degree in sports journalism, 140 caps for her country captained Arsenal, she's there on merit she has the football knowledge and a good personality its an excellent choice she'll do well.

  2. Ouch! They're definitely a project for an investor like Leicester's owners. People who are genuinely interested in football and who want to rebuild a club. What...when we have Changing Times and his lad Denzel on the forum? šŸ˜

  5. It's true, I don't think we need to have a 20 goal striker. But we need to score more goals. Whatever strikers we bring in ultimately have to help us toward that goal. In this team, the best thing they can do is help to link up the direct play, to win the headers, the flick-ons, the knock-downs, to better support the players around them. Grabbing 10-15 goals themselves would be a bonus on top of that.

  6. I've seen/heard a lot of chatter that Derby are potentially up the creek without a paddle. Apparently they are actually in debt by a fair bit, annoyingly they still haven't released their accounts for the year ending June 19 so we don't have a definite figure for last year. But looking at the accounts ending June 18, it looks like they owed around Ā£25m to various creditors, apparently that figure has at least doubled (if not trebled) in two years. Plus they've sold the stadium to themselves and mortgaged their training ground in recent years. So it's no surprise there isn't a queue of pot

  7. If you ignore everything in terms of the debt and selling the stadium to themselves etc. Thinking of infrastructure they've got a good training ground complex, which has planning permission for improvements/expansion. Plus their stadium is almost a like for like of ours. Both of which are also slightly newer than ours. They have a good academy set-up which has and does still produce players of a good level. I think last season they gave more minutes to academy players than any other club in the Championship. Then first team I suppose they are like every other championship club

  8. I know we need 2-3 strikers this summer but I'd like to see us looking at our first choice strikers right now and, in fact, I'm quite worried that we already are. Those names, Collins, Smith, Wyke, none of them sound to me like they'll make such a significant impact on this team that we will be battling at the very top end of the division. These are all strikers entering or are in their prime age and as far as I can tell, no other team with those kind of ambitions next season are looking at these guys and thinking they're ready for that. I could be wrong about them, if they sign I'll

  15. Glad Leicester won... I know they are another club with a very wealthy owner.. but seems to be operated as much for the fans and city as for "profit" and always good to see new names on trophies instead of the entitled few... headline for tomorrows papers "Tuchel out-foxed" or something even cornier... Also pleased for players like Wes Morgan that rarely get the plaudits but deserve more credit than they receive

I was going to say something along the lines of Smith would be worth having because he is used to life in a YOYO CLUB and could give us a BOOST but then I thought if I didn't pick up a PENGUIN for The Jew, he would make sure the mods BANDIT..... so I decided defeat was inevitable and just DRIFTER'd away.. before someone BANJO'd me šŸ™‚

  18. Allison has scored an amazing 95th minute header to give Liverpool three points against West Brom. It's the first time an LFC goalkeeper has ever scored for the club, and it was some header. Wish we had someone who could plant the ball into the far corner like he did.

  25. DR I hope you handle disappointment well, actually being a Boro supporter you probably do after all the practice. There is no way we are in a financial position to buy a striker that is capable of playing in the Premier. The only way to go down that road would be to have the scouting prowess to bring in an unknown with promise and I donā€™t think any of us have that level of confidence

  26. When getting promoted automatically: Watford's top scorer got 13. West Brom's top scorer had 10 goals. Cardiff's top scorer had 10 goals. Our top scorer had 8 goals. Goals certainly help, but you definitely don't "need" a 20+ striker.

  27. @Blanco that tbf if a good question. Maybe back up is the wrong term. Maybe the correct term is one of them 3 along with someone who can be interchanged. I just dont feel them 3 as your main striker are gonna have you pushing you promotion. But them plus another sharing the burden could work because as you said, there probably is not a target man who can get you the 15 goals plus alone you need. So might need to rely on two strikers who can both hit double figures. I know Diedhiou not everyones cuppa of tea but bar this season he got double figures in each of h

  29. James Collins, Michael Smith or Charlie Wyke as the back up target man would not be a bad. Curently Collins would be my favoured option as he hit double figures twice at this level for 2 seasons running. @Smogzilla. I was thinking who in gods name is gonna take Chuba off us after his ineffective season but as that article said, Hull is a good shout. He been on loan there before.

  30. You'd have to kick out Wrexham, Newport and Merthyr too. I doubt they'd want it though, the drop in finances would be absolutely massive. I wouldn't want them to leave either, I like them being in the same league system as English clubs. If I could reform the leagues from scratch, I'd love a full British league, but far too much time has passed and history been created for it to be workable now.

  32. i think the scottish league is as close as you can get to a forgone conclusion ,theres two teams fighting for the title , a small gruop of 3 or 4 that can hope for 3rd place and the also rans. it annoys me massively how much adulation ws given to celtic with thier "treble treble" and the chance of 10 titles in a row. like i said its a two horse race to begin with, and when you add into that ,the outrageously stern punishment Rangers got seasons earlier(relegation to the absolute bottom) after thier illegal off fiels stuff , celtic really had NO opposition at all to contend with. 35. Christ alive. Obviously this is a while ago now and hindsight is a wonderful thing and all that. And to be as fair as you can to him, the point he starts to make about Celtic and Rangers coming into the English leagues is a fair one. I don't think he explains it very well as I think he's coming at it from completely the wrong side of the debate to begin with but I think Celtic and Rangers as clubs would get huge investment in the Premier League to pit them against the top English clubs. Huge investment. The bases are there, the history, the fans, the stadiums, the atmosphere. And importan

  41. Switched the date so it was no longer after the leagues had finished and thus is stopped being as much of an occasion. The fact that finishing 4th in the Premier League now is seen as being more important than winning something is clearly also a massive factor. One of my most cherished memories is of being at Wembley, singing Abide With Me, with about 10 mins until kick off, and about to watch Boro in the cup final. One of my worst is about 10 mins later when Di Matteo thumped the ball past Ben Roberts right in front of our end šŸ˜ Pretty much encapsulates that whole season šŸ˜’

  42. Hasn't really had that magic ever since Man Utd refused to take part in favour of the Club World Championship, a competition that has pretty much zero prestige. In my eyes they shouldn't have been allowed to compete in the FA Cup ever again after that.

  43. Wasn't Gestede a target man? Each of the players you like there are playing for teams that finished below us, and actually scored fewer goals than we did, despite us 'not having any strikers', which makes me wonder just how effective they actually are? This fascination with big lumps up front is baffling to me. I get it from Warnock, cos he's been doing this for 30 years, and has built his career on it for the most part. But why are fans arsed about that kind of thing? It's like Kieffer Moore, the one that 'got away' for us. Look at the season he's had, 20 goals 4th top scorer, smas

  45. I don't blame Warnock so much for the player situation, but I do blame him for some questionable decisions regarding team selections, subs etc. during games when we have looked all at sea. Also not trying harder to make the best use of the players he had, (see his "no decent strikers" comment), or giving younger players more opportunities when the senior players got injured, or were not performing as expected. I still feel his judgement is suspect in a few areas.

I very much doubt we got even close to half of Ā£4 million for Crooks.

I think we got closer to 2m for crookes than 4m, I think them initial fee's that come out when he was rumoured to be off were well off the mark. sheff wed were suckers back then, they gave us our money back if not more for rhodes as well, just for giving them an extra half season to start the payments so they could manipulate the payment into a different season for ffp. no wonder they are in such a bad state these days with their owner, a good example of teams being mis-managed from the top and gambling everything into failed pushes then getting bored when the criticism comes in and not wanting to spend their money on it no more if its not making them popular.

Karamoko DembĆ©lĆ© - get him signed. Seems like he has a year or 2 on his contract with Brest; wonder how much heā€™d cost. Good stats at Blackpool this season and fits our model. I see heā€™s come through the England youth ranks with some top talent; just taking a different route to the top.

As @BruceĀ said. Cov already signed him in January but agreed he could remainĀ at Peterborough for rest of season.
    •
He's contracted to Coventry for a long time, surely. Don't see why they would be interested in selling to us without us paying way over the top. Chris Willock looks to beĀ the obvious target for us but he's struggled to play a complete season the whole of his career and he seems to have stalled as a player over the last couple of years. Ā Could be that a change of club will re-energise him but there are warning flags. Then again, if there weren't warning flags, a Premier club might snap him up to see what happens. On the gripping hand, if Ipswich go up, I could see them taking a punt on him.
