  1. Centuries ago Villages had ducking stools whereby if the person drowned they were innocent and if they lived they were guilty and sentenced to death. Nowadays not much has changed sadly. Idiots posting stuff with zero information or in possession of any facts whatsoever just fuelling idle gossip. If he is guilty then let the law deal with it and ensure he gets a fair trial and whatever punishment is meted out to him. If he is innocent then this has to be his and his family's worse nightmare. If he was guilty and gets off because of the tweets and impossibility of a fair trial then the vic

  5. Because we're Boro and we throw money at players and they have no choice. He was interested enough to talk to us. We were interested enough to make an offer. That's a serious interest. Not outbidding other teams doesn't mean we weren't serious. I mean, if he'd signed on the terms offered do you think we'd have said 'sorry man, only kidding, we're just wasting everybody's time'. We complain endlessly about how poorly run the club is; not offering more than we think someone is worth is actually sensible. And just because Luton think he's worth more doesn't mean we weren't serious.

  7. How depressing. Season hasn’t even kicked off yet and we have been written off already. Why not give whatever players we sign a chance. Bola is a great example. He was well and truly written off and he’s probably one of the 1st names on the team sheet

  8. I think the important thing to realise with our transfers this year is we aren't going out to try and buy 11 new players who are better than the 11 we had last year. Warnock knows we don't have the cash (or probably the know-how) to do that. What he is trying to do is make sure that no matter what happens with injuries, suspensions, or covid, we have 11 experienced players who can play in their proper positions and give him at least a 6/10. Losing Fry, Tav, Dijksteel etc. crippled us last season. We just didn't have the depth. Our only wide men apart from Marvin were drafted in on lo

  10. I'm pretty sure you're both saying the same thing. I suspect we made an offer at a level we thought was appropriate for how much we saw him playing, or for the level we thought he was at. If Luton saw fit to go above that, it's up to them. If we'd wanted him as an every-match starter, or thought he was going to be a superstar for us, perhaps our offer would have been higher. We were seriously interested enough to make an offer, but perhaps not so serious as to put too many eggs in the basket.

  13. I personnally don't understand Boro "supporters" like JT This is Boro, we have no god given right to be an attractive football team, as long as the players give 100% - which is the kind of team NW is putting together, then they've filled by core requirements as a fan. Anything else is a much welcome bonus. Also, although we are still missing a bit of flair from wide position and an additional striker, I think the recruitment this summer has been solid, the current squad are at lease top half of the table, add in some more creativity and we can push for top 6.

  16. Just reading a news story in the Gazette. I'll copy and paste the relevant bits below. Maybe I'm the only one who finds it amusing I don't know. It's about a shooting in Ormesby, so it's not an amusing subject by itself but... During the first attack, at midnight into Monday, a weapon was fired at the living room and front bedroom windows of a home on Ainstable Road. Then at around 12.10am on Tuesday, a man suffered a shot wound to his arm after a weapon was fired at close range at the front door of the property. A neighbour who didn't want to be named, said the attack

  26. I felt exactly the same at the end of last season. Probably the only time in my life I couldn't even tell someone what our score had been at the weekend. But I really don't think the signings have been that bad! The only one we've really spent any cash on is Payero, and he's potentially an exciting signing. We also finished the season without Fry, Tavernier, and Dijskteel - three of the best existing players are back now. And we had a keeper with sieves for hands. Let's give them a chance, eh?

  30. Difference is there young, exciting and have potential. Don't think there's anything wrong with signing one of Harris or Hoilett and Bamba for backup on short-term deals. But as a club we need to look long-term. Try and bring some players in develop them. Keep some of them in the squad and move some of them on after a couple of years to strengthen the team.

  32. We do need some wingers and a new back up striker. This will be addressed as Warnock likes sppedy wingers shown by Bolasie l, Kebano. The problem is the club is keeping cards very close to their chest we don't know who's signing until their pretty much confirmed. The Bamba, Harrison and Hoillet is trash made up for clicks. We will get payero and another South American I reckon. Then the signings of Crooks ikpeazu will make us alot more dangerous at set pieces and have a more goal scoring threat. We will have a better season than last so dunno what the doom glum is about. Atleast we gonna have

  33. Am I not allowed to express a disapproval about the direction the club is going without being referred to as a “supporter”? Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t remember saying that we had a god given right to play attractive football. Nor anything even similar. I do believe, however, that, based on recent evidence, it would be better for the club’s future if we tried to play a more modern and expansive brand of football. Look around at the club’s similar in stature and budget to ourselves who have achieved success in the last 5 years. None have done it by playing long ball football. Leeds

  34. Ameobi didn't perform better than Johnson or bolasie, arguably kebano, last season. Lumley barely kicked a ball last season. Ikpeazu scored one more goal than Britt last season with a fair bit more football played. Paterson couldn't get in the Bristol team, hoilett couldn't get in the cardiff side, bamba has been out for 2 years and Harris didn't score a goal in 40 games for Sheffield Wednesday. It's just grim whatever way you want to spin it. I'm not saying they'll be bad signings, but how many teams can you think of that signed all their players from lesser team

  35. Dude. We can be seriously interested AND bow out when we decided it was getting too expensive, they're not mutually exclusive. If we're running to a wage budget, the wage Luton offered may have been above what we decided was acceptable, however seriously interested we were. Not that you'll see this of course.

  39. The long term future of a football manager and the long term future of a football club are two totally different things. Most clubs, nowadays, change managers on a frequent basis. But some clubs have a much better long term plan than others. Unfortunately, this is where Middlesbrough are falling way behind the better planned clubs. Surely you aren’t suggesting that we should only plan, as a club, for what happens between now and Christmas?

I said all along that Carrick would commit to the Boro, I dont think he's done enough for a bigish PL club to take a gamble on him, not knocking MC one bit, im happy he's staying, if it's true, great business by the club, saying that if he has signed you would have thought it would have been made public though

I think the poor January transfer window, the cluster£u(k of the Early Bird season cards allied to the team and Carrick being booed after some underwhelming and tactically calamitous showings didn't and still don't lend themselves to any announcements aimed at positive PR. I know many will be ecstatic if Carrick has indeed signed a new contract but equally there will be a few that are somewhat less than convinced. It's all about timing and getting the maximum out of it, poor results and questionable tactics doesn't make for maximum hype and spin. meaning the news (if true) is saved for another week.
