  1. This is such sad news, I'm not the best with words, but the oneBoro Forum would certainly not be what it is today without the help and dedication from VB; from the days of 606 and the Evening Gazette forum, to helping make everyone feel welcome and providing ITK snippets along the way. RIP VB 😞

  2. He was of the main reasons why I moved over from 606. When VB wrote something, everyone took note, which I think is the best compliment someone could be given on a forum like this. RIP VB.

  3. I only browse this forum these days and haven't logged in for quite some time, but logged in today as VB was instrumental in giving this forum its life and character. A top bloke with a worthy reputation. RIP VB.

  4. Absolute gentleman, the biggest Boro supporter around and his legacy lives on in this website, oneboro wouldn't be around as it is today without his input in the early days. Such sad news.

  5. Just an update from a journalist from South America, he does only have 1.5k followers so how true I don’t know. Mentions in another tweet that it was Neil Bauser and Leo at the meeting.

  7. I assumed Crooks was signed with Saville money. Been reported in media and those ITK on here that we got ÂŁ1.5m for Sav We spent ÂŁ1.1m on Crooks.

  8. As much as I would love a Brazilian here, McNair is too valuable to sell. I think most managers would have him as a first choice midfielder even if Warnock doesn’t. He’s also very comfortable at the back. If we sold him we would need another midfielder and another defender to get quality like him in both positions would probably cost more than his selling price
    3 points
  9. I wouldn't sell McNair unless we were desperate for money, he's one of the first names on the teamsheet for me.

  10. I agree but him going could fund two or three incoming and right now we are short on numbers which is why I suspect that considering the financial impact of Covid somebody will have to pay the Piper.

  11. Jovatic 😂😂😂 that's the best one yet

  12. if it wasnt for football this guy would have been in prison several times over by this point. Clearly has some serious violent issues.

  13. Its the "arguably" bit that is the problem for me with Paddy. Definitely versatile, he is arguably our best CB but isn't, arguably our best Midfielder but isn't, arguably our best set piece taker but they rarely amount to anything. He is very good at a lot of things but not outstanding at any. Without doubt he shows signs of being exceptional occasionally but over the years he has been here its all come in fits and starts. Much of that in fairness is down to successive poor Management rather than just the player himself but at some point he needs to nail down what he really is.

  14. I'm not trying to join in with getting him sold but wasn't there some stuff about us being open to selling him at the start of the summer? Or was it just that there was the odd link with him and a move?
    2 points
  15. @SzilardNemethsCurtains Not trying to sell anybody, just wondered what people thought, don't see him starting in a back 4, with added CB cover he may not get into the 3 either, CM is well stocked and we need funds for attacking players, hence the curiosity in what people thought
    2 points
  16. That's kind of what I would have thought too. Whatever we made or basically didn't have to spend any more on Saville could have gone into the Crooks deal. We've also lost a big chunk off our wage bill this summer with Britt and Fletch going, I reckon Saville was on more than Crooks has come in on too. I just don't see any reason to think we're in sell-to-buy territory yet. Certainly not selling the best players we have to fund moves and surely we're not going in to spend a great deal of money right now without knowing for a fact that: a) We can afford to OR; b) We have something
    2 points
  17. Well we've already signed Crooks so if we needed to sell to buy him that was a bit of a dumb thing to do. That's surely not a realistic assumption to make? As for Ciaron Brown or Kean Bryan, again, they're not improving the first 11 as far as I understand it so why bother selling someone who is pretty emphatically one of our best players (including having the prestigious oneBoro Player of the Season 2020/21 award to his name) to fund moves for them? I'd rather keep McNair than bring in 1 or 2 players who aren't expected to start anywhere near as many games as McNair does. Not to ment

  18. eye defense was like a civ without fry, thats how good paddy is lol. midfield is lost without tav and watmore is only forward who scores. all vital.

  19. Payero, Muniz, Maja and a winger. We can dream...

  20. It amazes me that any poster would be looking to sacrifice Paddy. To me he is in the top 3 of best players we have at the club
    2 points
  21. I agree with all of this although I do think Paddy's deliveries are quite good, we just didnt have anyone decent on the end. I hope that will be different already with Ikpeazu and Crooks in the box this year.

  22. Nah i agree to a point but you know what you get with Paddy, and we need a few of these in the team. Im all for the exciting players but not at the expense of someone like him. That's just me though

  23. That's that then, we're signing the new Jamie moreno

  24. Very sad news. Was always exciting to see that green Vectorboro post as it generally meant some team or juicy transfer news. Seemed like a genuinely nice guy too at a time when the forum was at its peak. Rip.

  25. Jovatic is moving to Hertha Berlin 😞 there goes that completely legit link

  26. Think even when he plays as a CM he plays as an attacking one anyway nowadays, so it's basically the same thing really with him. He's going to be in the box whether he's running there from deep or from near the front. Yeah the Ameobi one I'm hoping is simply it's lagging behind after the self isolation and it's nothing serious.

  30. I think your final sentence there is key, Fry and Hall won't be fit all season judging off recent history. That said going off pre season I think he's likely to start in midfield alongside Morsy and Payero (if he comes), Crooks will be higher up the pitch

  31. Hadn't even considered his potential arrival!

  32. Not necessarily you, I understand why you pose the question. He was the one player who played every game last season, I think he will be an important figure once again especially if we play with a back 3

Are you off on your holidays, Wilson?

  36. Just for arguments sake his going would likely fund Crooks who has just arrived and also Ciaron Brown and Kean Bryan on the payroll thereby more adequately covering the defence and midfield. I'm not saying lets get rid but I am being realistic in that the money to strengthen the squad has to come from somewhere and we can't be expecting all these new arrivals at zero cost.

  38. Good question, mate .. I read once, that the reason Man U let him go, was cause he didn't have the right mind for top competitive football. He has some technique He has stamina He can shoot and pass and is good at set piece deliveries He can defend He can do his trade mark flop But still ... I don't rate him that much .. as I wrote earlier, he is too nice.

  40. Looking at our 3 saleable assets to raise funds for a South American shopping spree, Paddy, Tav & Dael, I know who would be my first choice to sell.

  41. Yeah, they always dip Saturday through Monday. Tomorrow's figures normally tell the true story

  42. He used to come on with the exact team for the Saturday on the Friday evening too - I think during the mogga era! Knew his stuff

  46. “He is really looking forward to moving to Middlesbrough or the mighty Boro I hear they are called. They have a history with South America and are the best at samba outside of Rio De Janerio is my understanding. Personal details are sorted when they added weekly Parmo’s to his salary can’t wait to do the lambada in the Claggy Mac with the pretty girls. On the pitch he plays midfield but doesn’t like running So Mr Warnock style of play is perfect as they tend to bypass that part of the pitch most of the time “ **From Google Translate ** Take it as true and please don’t fact check it👍

  47. It’s up to both clubs to negotiate what the transfer fee is and when it is paid - it’s purely a commercial decision and normally the selling club is interested enough in getting cash in to refuse any extended terms over and above the norm. If Liverpool are prepared to accept the cash at a later date, then there is nothing to stop them. the point is though that the timing of payment doesn’t normally affect FFP rules. You depreciate the players worth over the length of the contract - so if Wilson is going on a 5 year deal for £12m, say, then the cost for FFP is £2.4m per year irrespective o

  48. So, with less than two weeks until their opening Championship fixture, Derby County have made 0 signings, have no senior CBs on a deal with the club, have had no more news about their proposed takeover, have a senior squad of about 12 players, are under a transfer embargo and are still waiting to submit 3 accounts to the EFL. If they don't get relegated this season I will be absolutely STUNNED.

  49. I am not usually one to get nervous over transfers as i have a “what will be will be mentality” but that will go out window if Payero does not come. The last time I was gutted a transfer had fallen through was when Subotic failed a medical as I was very excited to see someone of his calibre joining us. Reminded me of Robson/McClaren era. Payero also gives me the same sense of nostalgic-ness. (I am not sure if that is even a word but lets just pretend it is)

Hackney hasn't been in the squad the last two games after making a fleeting appearance on the bench a couple of weeks ago. He's not ready to start a game. I think it'll be mcnair in for ayling like you say but I reckon vdb starts at right back like early on in the season. The rest will be unchanged but with greenwood in for silvera.

If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway. I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and Engel - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trusting him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us) Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or Gilbert there: Dieng Paddy VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Silveria LL Azaz
