  1. Don’t really get all this Warnock hate all of a sudden. I don’t agree with some of his comments and the way he dealt with the end of last season. BUT in games this year. Bristol, QPR (first half) and Blackburn, I think, we’ve been better and played more attractive football then we have for some time. Along with a good point at Fulham. we have made a lot of signings and kept key players yet I feel like many people are ready to credit the signings that go badly to Warnock and hail Scott for any signings that turn out to be good. Even tho we actually have no idea whatsoever who is

  3. Gitau is definitely one to watch as he develops. Plays both flanks and in Central defence. Very versatile.

  4. Yeah, this is what I fear. It's Derby County, they were bloody lucky to escape relegation last season and I can easily see them doing the same even with a points deduction. I said a while ago they should be given a points deduction that makes it mathematically impossible to survive, to send out a message that this *** won't be tolerated, but i'm not sure where the EFL would stand legally on that.

  5. Like every other club, there are good and bad fans among them and I was lucky enough to be near some good ones that looked like two rugby players welded together when a few of their nasty boys tried it one with me in the seventies. One of those brown trouser moments that stay with you for a while but still grateful that they were there.. so for their sakes, hope that EFL just get the points deduction done and they get things sorted

  6. I can appreciate that some posters are worried what out team could look like with a host of injuries, however i prefer to focus on the fact that we can put out a strong team and strong bench regularly with the squad we have. a few free transfers in key positions, and it's night and day from what we've had over the last 4 years

  7. That the thread shut? If not just thought I'd say, I have been critical of our recruitment strategy/business in general the past few seasons to say the least 🤣 There's been a feeling of a breath of fresh air with this window, finally. A new era beginning, excited to see how we develop as a club after this season going forward. I still feel we'll fall a little short this season to go up, but the squad is surely just about there now. You never know. I'd love to see Warnock sign off in his management career with a final promotion to add to his record. Hernandez looks beauty. Hav

  9. I mean you take 9 points off them now and they're only 5 points off safety. It's a tough ask given the lack of manoeuvrability in the transfermarket, but hardly impossible. Would rather see them slapped with something that makes it much more difficult.

  10. Maybe Mel can interest the Wrexham lads in making a movie about it .. sort of like "Titanic" but with elements of horror and comedy.. and Gibbo stroking a cat saying "I've been expecting you, Mr Morris" 🙂

  12. I agree that records cannot be compared like for like across different periods because of varying competitions and standards, numbers of games etc. You can’t write him off though because he was born in a different period to when football was played in different conditions. It’s all relative and that’s probably the best way to look at it. Pele was the best of his generation, Maradona the best of his, Messi and Ronaldo the best of theirs. Very difficult to directly compare them all. Would be very interesting to know how they would’ve compared in each other’s eras with the same access to fac

  14. One thing I like about Lumley is the fact that he looks to play the ball out quickly, to a player, whenever the opportunity presents itself. That may be contributing to the difference in play between this season and last, when the ball was almost always punted forward by his predecessor. This in itself slowed our game down at times, while he waited for the team to move upfield en masses.

  16. I find it equally boring when certain posters are only ever negative and never positive. Each to their own though.

  18. Just to correct you, they've had the exact same clinical trials as any other vaccine. In some cases they trialled it on more people than they'd normally trial vaccines on. The only difference with these vaccines is that all the normal hurdles of bureaucracy and lack of funding have been completely removed.

  19. That works well for him at spurs, but only because of son, who plays pretty much as a striker on the shoulder of the defence. England don't have anyone who plays like that (sterling could, but he doesn't) so it's not as effective.

  24. Positive feedback loops enhance or amplify changes; this tends to move a system away from its equilibrium state and make it more unstable. Negative feedbacks tend to dampen or buffer changes; this tends to hold a system to some equilibrium state making it more stable. https://serc.carleton.edu/introgeo/models/loops.html

  25. Poor Jonny should get Onel to pay for the ankle surgery he needs after that. You see him for like 10 seconds and he makes like two passes I don't really know how you can draw that assumption from the footage we saw there. I don't think we ever had anything concrete beyond the club confirming it was season ending. Likely suggests ACL as it was a knee that a friend totally just fell on while he totally wasn't doing something he shouldn't be doing.

  27. Have posted all rounds for September so that people can get ahead if they want to. I know a couple of people like to predict a few rounds in a go. Looking at fixtures selected for TV etc I don't think there will be any major changes but will update rounds if any fixtures moved.

  28. If we sign Virgil van Dyke we have to wait until he proves he can defend in our team before we accept he can defend? I’m very, very confident that Lee Peltier is a better defender than Spence.

  34. I mean, contractually it is technically nailed on because his contract runs out then and if Scott really is in charge, he's the one who has to suggest a renewal to the board. I know what you're getting at but I don't see any way, shape or form that Scott and Warnock end up working together so well that that renewal comes about. Warnock's his own man, he knows what he wants and he has his own ways of doing things. I can't see him playing well with someone half his age telling him how to do his job.

  36. Personally going to be pouring out a nice glass of red this weekend in celebration that I will never watch Djed Spence kill the momentum in another attack with his trademark run it out wide, try and do a step over, slow the ball down, get doubled up, fall over and lose it. Horrific player who should have been nowhere near our team from the start and we are a much, much better side without him. Cheers!

  40. So during the EUROs I was using Infogol to track the xG of our games and I went and had a look and they do a decent job of modelling the Championship too! https://www.infogol.net/en/leagues/english-football-league-championship-2021-22-slopegraph/344 It's a bit of a horrible web to read but basically, the middle dot is where each team actually is in the table. On the left, I believe is the position of each team were you just to take results from the xG of each team as if they were actual goals. On the right is a predicted result based on past results and points accrued with a sim

I said all along that Carrick would commit to the Boro, I dont think he's done enough for a bigish PL club to take a gamble on him, not knocking MC one bit, im happy he's staying, if it's true, great business by the club, saying that if he has signed you would have thought it would have been made public though

I think the poor January transfer window, the cluster£u(k of the Early Bird season cards allied to the team and Carrick being booed after some underwhelming and tactically calamitous showings didn't and still don't lend themselves to any announcements aimed at positive PR. I know many will be ecstatic if Carrick has indeed signed a new contract but equally there will be a few that are somewhat less than convinced. It's all about timing and getting the maximum out of it, poor results and questionable tactics doesn't make for maximum hype and spin. meaning the news (if true) is saved for another week.
