  1. Imagine whinging about being given players most managers in the league would love a chance to work with. Reading eased past us with literally half of their entire first XI injured - while under transfer embargo. Wonder what budget Coventry and Blackpool had to work with? He really is starting to look silly.

  2. The Gazette putting out a lot of negative stories at the minute, usually that means the manager is on his last legs. Gibbo probably given them the nod.

  3. Warnock's latest excuse of blaming the foreign players really should be the final straw. He's done, get him out. I'd honestly rather see Leo take temporary charge than sticking with Neil until we find a new manager.

  4. Warnock has been moaning about the oversees signings from the start. First it was a little passive aggressive “Steve wants to take a chance on some South Americans”. Then he only wants two from South America. Then only wants two from the continent. Now a constant stream of them not being fit enough, good enough for the championship etc. Im pretty sure his nose has been put out by this duel transfer policy - some players for now (that he wants) and money spent on players for the future (that have nothing to do with him). Making such a noise about asking Gibson to take a chance on TO f

  5. I agree with this - it's a European model which has slowly moved into the English game (for better imo) and it's just how football works these days. Here is Neil Warnock's tactics summarised in two bullet points: - Get the ball forward quickly to wide players and hope they pull something out the bag, hopefully a cross into the big lad up front. - Man mark It's like Strachan all over again, who's only tactic was to have a left footed right winger, the game has moved on and it's left him behind. The club are preparing for life after Warnock behind the scenes and he is

  6. Hes more than welcome to do one then. I don't think there is a club going nowadays that just let's the manager have 100% of the say on signings. If he looked closer to home regarding his methods and tactics he might get a clue as to why he can't work with our current crop.

  7. Personally I feel there needs to be a reset. I have worked in companies when a senior manager is known to be leaving and witnessed staff drop the ball and start making alliances with potential successes. Loosing a leader results with the objectives being under valued and instigates power grabbing. This was a fundamental objection I had with NW continuing his role at the club. There is little incentive for staff to achieve there objectives or want for a better word KPI. Let’s face it more energy is spent on distancing yourself from the departing manager and more spent impressing your

  10. Some ridiculous comments on here about Mogga. Man is a legend to those of us from the old days .... oh and he has yet again got Blackburn at the right end of the table. he won’t be coming back but let’s have a bit of respect chaps As for who next then god only knows

  12. MFC v SU, Tuesday 28th September 2021 Kick Off: 19:45 Location: The Riverside Stadium (& live on SkySports Main Event) "Is this his last match?" Well, I'm sure everyone is excited to see what happens on Tuesday night. Will the blades of Sheffield strike the final blow in the managerial reign of Neil Warnock? Will the club that he loves and supported as a child be the club that brutally ends a career in football management that has spanned over four centuries? I think it's reasonable enough to summise that most Boro fans have had enough of Warnock. The most excitin

  13. Why do we care if a new manager knows the club or the area? Get someone in with fresh ideas who actually wants to play football and can make the most of the squad we have.

  14. I lost count on Saturday the number of times Payero seemed unsure whether to press the ball or look for a man or 🤷🏻‍♂️ The lad looked totally confused with the marking system. The lads who have been here longer, including Howson, look only marginally more comfortable with it. To be fair every defensive CM in the country can be reasonably sure that the right full back is behind him covering the right, the left full back to his left, and the centre backs in the middle. No such luck for Johnny unless he develops eyes in the back oh his head. What they must think when they see Peltier for example,

  17. Warnock’s latest excuses are really irritating me. It feels like his relationship with the club is breaking down. He’s now firmly blaming the foreign players. Even though Payero has started just one match and JLS two. It’s not like we were setting the league alight before they were brought in. It’s a joke.

  18. Why doesn't even one journalist have the balls to ask him a proper bloody question. "Do you think your man marking system is working? Will you consider changing it?" "Why does the team look so open, especially in central areas? How do you plan to address it?" "Is the team underperforming, considering the Summer investment from Gibson?" "Where do you believe we should be in the league table? What would be considered a failure this season?" "Why are we so ineffective from set pieces? Are they being worked at on the training ground?" "Why don't Middlesbrough have the

  23. I personally think we could afford and attract names like that. We were paying Pulis a eye watering amount, probably double what Lampard got at Derby or Reiziger is getting currently. Its been shown at Leeds how much benefit can be gotten by putting money into the manager. Instead of putting a million or two into lumps like Crooks why don't we use that money on a decent manager?

  24. The squad we have we really should be playing a 4-3-3 in my opinion. Could probably do with a proper defensive midfielder who is good on the ball as well. Would expect he will be one of our main targets in January. Obviously that also depends if we have a manager who wants to play football by then. When it comes to formation I don’t think the man marking helps. Players are all over the place, no wonder why opposition players are finding themselves wide open

  25. Or maybe he does and todays comments were all about getting his excuses in early.

  26. Maybe he knows the writing is on the wall and that Gibson is actively looking to replace him, so to save face he is blaming the set up of the club for his failings this season. Either way I can't see Gibson accepting these damning comments from Warnock

  27. i'm really fearful of this game, Jokanovic plays really expansive fluid football and if we are trying to man mark we are going to get torn apart. Remember when we supposedly wanted Jokanovic and ended up with "best candidate" Woodgate? It feels like we are now at the top of that same manager circle again - a dinosaur who isn't getting results stage.

  28. We continue to discuss the formation and keeping ‘shape’ - probably the most important aspect of being defensively solid. It doesn’t actually matter how we set up at kick off though if we man mark all over the pitch. Our shape is effectively whichever one the opposition choose to pull us into.

  29. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. We need a young, experienced manager of proven ability. And if we have to pay dearly for him, it will probably be money well spent.

  30. It's not really the same as the Sunderland situation. It feels more like the Karanka relegation season to me.

  31. To be honest an air of realisation once they scored, half hearted singing which did not last long. Why we did not threaten again after nearly scoring early on is beyond me. Simply no pride or belief in the team and Management

  32. I don't actually think it's related to why he doesn't anymore, or at least I hope not, but Joe Nicholson from the Hartlepool Mail used to ask good questions in the press conferences, he's now been moved on to focusing on Sunderland.

  33. Fgs why not just end it now then, he’s clearly not happy, the players obviously aren’t happy so what is the point? It’s a dangerous game tbh as it’s a Sunderland style recipe for relegation.

  34. I am positive you won’t get the best out of someone with criticism. Now a good mentor works wonders. I am just getting a little more then disappointed listening to so many excuses and no solutions. I am going for a BORO win, I know ridiculous, mad really but I think someone is going to come forward and take the lead. I sense a win..

  36. The foreign lads are all unfit and he's not going to pick them until they get fit now, he didn't want Lea-Siliki to go away with Cameroon next week as he doesn't think he'll play or train properly. He claimed Payero was at fault for the goal yet again. They're expecting the result of the red card appeal this afternoon. Bola was in pain for the entirety of the match and they'll check on him today. Had a weird pop at McNair for always being fit for Northern Ireland. Load of stuff about loving Sheffield United.

  39. The ideal situation would be to keep NW until January. That would give us chance to find a suitable replacement and get the new man bedded in, the problem is if we wait that long we could be in a relegation fight if thigs do not improve significantly.

  40. Despite their problems Rooney has at least got Derby organised & solid. We are neither. If we play man to man then we will look as disjointed and soft centred as usual. 10th game of the season and already I can barely be arsed to be bothered 👎🏻

  41. Of course it matters how you get results. We beat Forest despite playing poorly because Forest were awful, and we were then shown up in the next two matches. If their 3 wins in 4 were against very poor sides in and around the relegation zone, and they struggled against one of them with a man advantage, then it might be a sign that they're not actually that good. I'm fairly sure they'll finish above us this season, as you'd expect with their squad and manager, but I'm not overly threatened by their recent results.

  45. I’d rather we stick with Warnock until the man we want to build with over the next few years is available. If he’s available next week, get him. If we have to wait until the end of the season, wait. I have a certain amount of sympathy for Warnock. He’s wanted this job for a while but knows in his final season in football he’s just treading water, players are being bought around him, long term plans are happening without him. It’s all a bit anticlimatic and sad really

  46. All about whether he's actively working against our best interests. Finger pointing and excuse making probably doesn't do much for us and if he starts picking out new players like Payero who he doesn't have much use for and pointing the finger at them for not working the way he wants them to, I can't imagine those players will be best pleased at the club they've walked into. There may not be a better time to make the change if its temporary. Having someone who is less of an egotist in charge of first team matters for the mean time might take the expectations away from a team that really d

  47. Can anyone see us going for Chris Wilder? If we got him I think he would be happy to work with these players. No one in our current team who I dont think is a Wilder type player. Even if we went with a overseas manager or someone like Howe who maybe play a more expansive type the only 2 players who migjt not be fancied by such a coach are probs Crooks and Uche.

Hackney hasn't been in the squad the last two games after making a fleeting appearance on the bench a couple of weeks ago. He's not ready to start a game. I think it'll be mcnair in for ayling like you say but I reckon vdb starts at right back like early on in the season. The rest will be unchanged but with greenwood in for silvera.

If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway. I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and Engel - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trusting him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us) Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or Gilbert there: Dieng Paddy VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Silveria LL Azaz
