  1. Cardiff City vs Middlesbrough FC Saturday 23rd October – 12:30 pm (Sky Sports) Cardiff City Stadium Current standings: Boro continue to climb up the table and we find ourselves in a reasonable 10th place. The Bluebirds are in free fall and Mick Mccarthy might be the most hated man in Cardiff right now. If he doesn't get something from this game he's most likely getting sacked. 2. Just popping over to keep an eye on @The Colonel, as we don't normally let him out on his own. Neil Warnock and Sol Bamba can do no wrong in the eyes of many Bluebirds' supporters and would be welcomed back in some capacity. Warnock resurrected a damaged club and established a great rapport with our supporters, both in terms of results and what he did within the community. Many of us will always remember that. I think your lot have the edge tomorrow, but we hope for a good positive approach from both teams and hopefully Cardiff will kick on from here and give us something to bu

  3. Hey there, thanks for letting me join. 👍 As @Downsouth mentioned, I run the Cardiff City Forum (I'd like to post the link to our match thread so you guys can see what's being said from our POV but not sure if I'm allowed, so let me know) and tomorrow's game is quite an interesting one for us. Obviously it'll be interesting to see what sort of reception Warnock gets but I reckon it'll be favourable as our fans are still quite fond of him. Likewise Bamba, a massive fan favourite here and I'm still bummed out we let him go and in the manner we did it but our board don't seem to get muc

  4. He's still our most creative player at the minute, you can't drop that. If he could figure out the final decision making he'd be a premier league player easily.

  5. As long as your next one does not open with "over to you guys" Also think that the post count will be greatly reduced should we beat Cardiff unless we think of new things to complain about

  8. We have a Cardiff City Forum member "The Colonel" just signed up. Let's give him a warm welcome as I would imagine he has a lot to moan about and will be interesting to know his views regarding their old Manager Neil Warnock @The Colonel welcome to the oneBoro forum will be good to hear from you

  9. Also, we now have the 4th best defence in the league, behind only Fulham, West Brom and miraculously Derby. Seems at odds with how our defence feels, but we're not doing too badly at that end of the pitch.

  10. Just realised I've exactly the same games won/drawn/lost and points as Boro

  11. I agree that the midfield hasn't done enough but I do think that the man marking thing hasn't helped us at all. Why he's done that here I have no idea but I'm sure there is a reason for it as I doubt he'd just do it for the sake of it. Seems weird to me unless you believe your team is fitter or faster maybe so you think your players can follow the opposition all game long? Or you believe your players are basically thicker than the opposition so you try to make it as simple as possible for them? It's also fair to say that Howson is not a defensive midfielder but is being asked to do it anyw

  12. Good luck tomorrow lads and lasses, first time I have hope that we get beaten but I do hope you win and then hopefully we will get rid of McCarthy. Bamba will become a legend at Cardiff if he scores the winner .

  13. Apart from Swansea and Bournemouth, I can't think of many more difficult trips for you. Absolutely ridiculous making it such an early kick off, but TV money talks.

  15. Fancy having him back? We don't mind, we'll let you take him. In fact, just keep him at the ground after tomorrow, would you mind? I can't imagine Adkins will manage to fall upwards like that after getting sacked from league 1 Charlton! Think you're safe from that one mate! 😂

  16. Yeah I wish it had worked out with Mick because he's an honest bloke and you can see it pains him to be losing games like this. But, when you've lost 7 in a row, the worst losing streak since 1933 and your strategy is playing 5 centre backs then you can't expect to stay in the job. We're one spot above relegation, if Derby hadn't been docked points we'd be in the bottom three. As far as replacement manager rumours are concerned, we know Chris Wilder was in the crowd watching when we played Fulham on Wednesday night and a lot of our fans seem to rate him so I hope it's Wilder and not

  17. That's even worse than Tony Pulis playing four CBs in his time at Boro! Shame it hasn't worked out with Mick - he always comes across as a decent bloke. Any rumours on who might replace him? (We're on the hunt for a new manager ourselves, so it's interesting to hear who's being linked with Cardiff).

  20. Last time out played in an empty stadium due to Covid mind you will there be much more noise I wonder? We do not do well at Cardiff last time we won at their gaff was 20th September 2014, would that be at the new or old ground? Hopefully @Erimus74 will provide more enthralling information between the clubs

  21. Made me think of our own trip to Roma! Think that second half was the longest I've ever experienced. Felt like the clock was going backwards! Some great saves from Schwarzer kept us alive.

  22. That's what I'd go with too. I wonder if they'll decide it's not worth risking Sporar after he pulled up though? In that case, Coburn or Watmore up front with Uche.

  23. Questions: 1. Are you starting to feel optimistic about the season yet? WIn the next two, and I might ... 2. Should Crooks and Payero be our midfield partnership from now on? Just yes 3. How many points do you expect from the next 3? Cardiff (A), Birmingham(H), Luton(A) None, but hope for 7 4. Who is the better manager out of Warnock and McCarthy? Cocks as fingers or taste buds in the rectum? 5. Starting 11 and formation? Same 6. Who scored the 2nd goal against Barnsley, Sol or Crooksy? Both = Caramba

  25. In Tavs defence, what attacking coaches has he had to work with over the last few years? Warnock, Pulis and Woodgate were hardly known for their attacking prowess. I’d say Robbie Keane would have taught him a thing or two but at 22 you can always develop and I’m sure with more chances he would get more composure. Id probably say that the whole team could do with a prolonged period of dominance in games to get some more composure and match practice at shooting. Last nights game showed how in the final third we are so nervous in my opinion. Not just Tav but everyone.

  26. His stats are going to be crap from now on though... Gargoyle: "Spence, what have been doing the last week. You were meant to be training, but it says here you've only done 100 steps a day and your body fat level has gone up to 90%"

  27. Shock as 21 year old footballer gets much better with consistent game time in a consistent position while previously, as a 20 year old, he showed inconsistent performances while being moved all over the pitch and in and out of the team, while being endlessly scapegoated by his own fans. Shock I tell ya.

  28. You couldn't say that, or rather you could but it would be incorrect. As for people improving defensively under a manager, the only player on our books that has improved under Warnock is Bola. Far more players have declined with him here than improved. Defensively as a group we haven't improved under Warnock either so I don't know on what basis you think there is nobody better than Warnock? Find that utterly bizarre be honest. We've had two better 'defensive' managers than Warnock here in the last 5 years in Karanka and Pulis. If I want my fullbacks to be over the other side of the p

  29. This day 1985 - A goalscoring legend opened his account for the mighty Boro Bernie Slaven made a home scoring debut this day, when putting the Boro 1-0 v Bradford City at Ayresome Park, the game finished 1-1 Bernie had made an away debut a week previous when the Boro lost 1-0 at Leeds, Peter Lorimer scored the only goal from the spot This day v Bradford, same as the Leeds game, Bernie was given the No9 shirt infront of our biggest crowd of the season, 6,130 What a signing by the late, great Willie Maddren, he brought Bernie down from Scotland after Bernie had sent a lette

I watched Man City v Real Madrid the other night and neither of those sides played tippy tappy in their own box the way we do. They both played it long if they were pressed. I presume you would include those two amongst the elite teams? Playing the ball around in your own box does not work for any team ever 🤷‍♂️

So if lets say dieng plays it out long down the channels and they opposition get possession and 30 seconds later they score, I dont see how that is any better? By kicking it long we are more likely to concede possession quicker than playing it out the back. Each to their own but there is a reason why so many elite teams across the world now play this way. And its all good saying players who are not at that level should not be doing so but all professional players can be taught this. Its just more high risk but clearly the rewards are greater as well.

That is literally the whole point of playing out. You play out under pressure to break the pressure and generate an attack. If you only play out from the back when you're not under pressure you are not playing out from the back.

stick to the basics, dont mess about if in a dangerous area being pressed deep. in those situations hit it long into the channels. if there is plenty of time and space, then take the opportunity to play out.  our trouble is we try to play out when under pressure, with players who are not the quickest and are often rushed into a mistake/bad decision. even when we have time we have given it away and conceded. its quite obvious when we are about to do it, the crowd always know whats coming and the groans start before we even give it away.

Not being sarcastic but interested. If we stopped playing out from the back, how would you want us to play when the phase of play starts with our GK having the ball?
