I'm glad someone else has said it. I'm already there. - Helping Payero settle - The corner flag last week - The off the field charity stuff I thought he would just be like a Fellaini type but he is so much more well-rounded than that4 points

Interesting piece from the Gazette. They noted that the U21's have now changed their formation to mirror that of the 1st team. They also executed a number of set piece moves rather than take pot shots at free much like the 1st team. It's that kind of joined up thinking we've been missing for years. Hopefully that filters down the age groups.2 points

I'll just leave this David Squires cartoon here, which sums it up perfectly (not sure if it was already posted but anyway, it's spot on.) https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2021/oct/12/david-squires-on-newcastle-united-saudi-takeover2 points

Your right it’s harsh on Osbourne that like. Considering Osbourne and Jones had a half each I would say Osbourne produced more. The man, the myth, the legend Isiah Osbourne.2 points

How Jones got in over Osbourne I'll never know. #JusticeforOsbourne2 points

Middlesbrough v Swansea City Saturday 4th December Riverside Stadium KO: 3pm We beat Huddersfield! We played well (apart from the silly own goal!) The team are starting to look the business, but can we do it on home turf against Swansea City, a team who are only just above us in the table by a point? (Can we catch the Swan(s), then? IT'S A HOT FUZZ REFERENCE, LEAVE ME ALONE) Will I join the fabled 3 game MDT Club? Find out on Saturday! Team News Dael Fry, Martin Payero and Marcus Browne are all back in full training, woohoo. Expect Fry and Payero t1 point

He kicked it off, tried to put it back in and it fell as he walked off. The linesman outright refused to move and put it back himself, so we had to wait until one of the players did. Obviously the Boro players wouldn't rush as we were winning.1 point

His physique is great and always hard working. Never stops running and likes to drop a bit deep to participate. Very hard to get the ball from. As an opposing fan he can come across as a.bit of someone who believes his own hype too much. Muchael Uhre will also be available on the cheap as his contract runs out in the summer. Last seasons league top scorer and leading the charts again. I’ll be honest I never rated him but he’s come on leaps and bounds these last two years. His team plays 3-5-2 too so he would fit right in. But if the same career trajectory as Pukki has at Brondby. Blistering1 point

I saw a clip of this on twitter earlier actually thanks to Jen. It was horrible to watch and really just goes to show how backwards some places still are.1 point

I see your point. Fair enough. i just think that’s going to have to be a consequence of the rule change. If you start making allowances/rule changes for if, buts and maybes it becomes a slippery slope.1 point

He could be a good option for RWB for the 1st team at some point. Hope he gets a chance one day.1 point

He is potentially the replacement for George Friend in the Boro bromance stakes, there I've said it! 😍1 point

In footballing news, Derby lost at home to QPR tonight and are now 19 points from safety. Happy days1 point

What information would make people change their minds? How about gay role models, who have public platforms to share their stories and lifestyles which were unavailable in the 1960s? How about incontrovertible scientific evidence that old assumptions about homosexuality (it's a perversion, it can be cured, etc) were wrong, making it easy to debunk those inaccurate old stereotypes? How about evidence of the damage homophobia can cause on both a personal and societal level? You're right that religion plays a big part in these matters, but ignorance is a bigger problem. We've had 2 old school managers in quick succession, I'd guess some moved on due to lack of input.1 point

This is all true, but one difference is that we all have access to infinitely more information than we did 60 years ago, when the word of politicians was still supreme and public information was limited to libraries, the Encyclopedia Britannica and your newspaper of choice. A century ago, cocaine used to be prescribed by pharmacists, but we know better now. The Saudis should know better about homosexuality by this stage in human evolution and technological progress, but for arcane religious reasons, they'd rather execute people than let them love who they want. That's not moving at a diff1 point

Possibly unfair of me, I was meaning that they weren't at the level you would expect of a professional sports team in the year 2021. We have just been seeming a bit amateurish in that department for years, but yes understaffed and under-utilised is probably fairer.1 point

I think Jones was a mere shadow of Osbourne in the first half and how he makes the team but Osbourne hasn't is totally beyond me, the lad even set up our first goal. Overall I thought Jones was much poorer in comparison.1 point

Yep, he's the reason Rui Patricio wore #11 at Wolves. I thought they'd properly retired the #1 shirt but seems it was just respect from Patricio to Ikeme at the time.1 point

I've been really surprised how quickly he's changed our style, I was expecting a process that would take months. Obviously we're far from the finished article but by God, I like what I've seen up to now!1 point

Considering the changes Wilder has wrought over three games, imagine us after three months of his stewardship. The signs were there against Preston in the first half and against Huddersfield throughout - we're going to become a proper footballing side for the first time since Karanka's management (and even more positive going forwards than we were under Aitor, who prioritised the defence with that rigid 4231 formation).1 point

Crooks in particular has seen such an uplift in performances so far. He was misplacing simple passes right left and centre and had an awful pass percentage under Warnock. But now we're training passing and movement properly he's one of the best in the team. Could be worth a lot of money in no time.1 point

The barefaced hypocrisy is quite breathtaking. Its like they really don't believe people will be able to see through what is pretty much a paper-thin sham. Or maybe they're just banking on the fans not caring... 🤷♂️ Its stuff like this and the proposed European Super League that almost make me apathetic about getting in the PL. I mean it'll be great getting to play the top teams again...its just being part of such a morally bankrupt organisation that leaves a bad taste in the mouth.1 point

Will never happen but I'd much rather they just admitted it for what it was, instead of treating everyone like morons who can't see what's in front of their faces. Would even respect the honesty. I'll write it for them... "Yeah, we're owned by Saudi Arabia and we can all sleep at night despite that fact. So can the Premier League. We think the investment is worth taking even if we lose a small number of fans, respect in the football community, and upset minority groups in the process. The vast majority of our fans support (or are at least neutral to) this position."1 point

and don't worry, despite the crown prince being the chairman of PIF, they pinky promised that he doesn't have any control over Newcastle.1 point

Their is obviously no connection between the owners of Newcastle and the Saudi leadership - it was a happy coincidence that the BEIN ban was lifted at just the right time for the premier league to approve the takeover. It’s obvious the group has no connection with the government.1 point

If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway. I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and Engel - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trusting him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us) Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or Gilbert there: Dieng Paddy VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Silveria LL Azaz
