  1. JLooking back I have worked hard for what I earned but now realise the fact I had the opportunity is a privilege itself. I have struggled finding work over the last three years and lost family members and have my own health issues. I have experienced an emotional roller coaster and been in dark places I would rather not discuss, so it’s been tough on family. I see others there struggles and see them get knocked down and get up again, and again and that spurs me on, never give up. Its not easy and it’s in these times you learn the value of love, charity and friendship, what a hug, a simp

  4. Sky Sports News are reporting that the Premier League players are "at breaking point" (Jordan Henderson) and should "go on strike" (Pep Guardiola) due to looming fixture congestion. Is it just me, or is that an absolutely disgusting attitude considering the extraordinary liberties given to footballers during the pandemic in terms of being allowed to play while normal people were locked out of local parks and unable to sit on benches, not losing income, not having to be vaccinated, etc? This story reminds me of Instagram influencers bleating when someone posts something unkind in resp

  5. As we approach a time of uncertainty for all of us once again perhaps we should reflect on what has been a time of hope and encouragement in many aspects of our lives during this last year and for all of our shared passion for Middlesbrough Football Club. For some of us on the forum it has been a most difficult and cruel year with the loss of loved ones through natural causes or having Covid 19 associated with their deaths and for some not being very well either. We possibly may need to endure games behind locked doors again for a while so we know that things are not going to improve for

  6. Easy solution is to cancel the World Cup. It's morally bankrupt, disrupting Footballing schedules and should never have been sanctioned. The World Cup is every four years and played during June/July Northern or Southern Hemisphere, it is a fairly basic criteria along with the required infrastructure and Stadia. If you haven't the wherewith all to meet the criteria then tough but stand aside. Throw Covid into the arena and it doesn't make sense if a lot of Footballers aren't jabbed yet going to be mixing with players from all around the Globe. Scrap it and let Football get back to normal or at

  7. @Borodane For Xmas eve, I’m cooking a Christmas ham in Coca Cola with a maple syrup and mustard glaze. Accompanied by roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and crusty bread with lashings of red wine.

  8. No, not being unfair at all! It boils my *** that PL teams have huge squads and can field a team with 11 changes for a cup match, but when they lose a couple of key players through illness they suddenly cannot fulfil a fixture. As for congestion, they need to remember that playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday is standard procedure in the championship. If I was on the money that they are, I would drag my balls over broken glass to ensure I got the ground for kick off.

  12. The ‘exciting Argentinian wonder kid no one had ever heard of’ not playing for Warnockosaurus because he is a little Britainer was an easy stick to beat Warnock with. I am interested to see how he does when/if he gets a run in the team.

  13. Warnock was never earning us over 1.6 points her game (he was averaging 1.2). Also, since wilder has taken over we've only been behind for a total of 8 mins I think it is? A not fully fit payero hasn't really been the answer off the bench at any stage so far in the last few games that he's been on the bench imo. He'll get his chance.

  14. Does make me laugh a little.. if Warnock was still in charge fans would be going mental demanding Payero play.

  18. Always a shame to lose a potential 1st team player but Neil Taylor has looked more productive in his one game than Bola has all season. Yes it’s a blow in terms of squad depth but it’s not a huge blow in terms of the way we’ve been playing.

  22. I really have no idea why they feel so hard done by. People go to work every day during this pandemic. If they want less fixtures they should tell their clubs to advocate for a smaller champions league and lesser European nights. But that would cut into their massive wages and probably not something they’d entertain. I think the rules are fairly generous. If you have enough players you play and if you don’t the game is postponed. By all means close the stands for 6 weeks but I see no reasons why they can’t play when they are not sick.

  23. They are competing with us for a play off spot. We recall him even if for no other reason than weakening a rival club. There's also the more obvious thing that Jones would do extremely well to play every game between now and the end of the season of course so Spence is needed here.

  24. With more games are called off the real question is, will the game actually go ahead. I hope it does as I hope we win because, what’s Boxing Day without a game.

  25. I'm not sure. The way Warnock had us set up, Payero would've pretty much had to stick the ball in the net himself (think he actually did once). Think he might actually be better suited to playing under Wilder, but since we're doing okay at the moment, he's just going to have to wait for a chance. Hopefully not too long mind.

  26. you can contact people outside the box till the cows come home, inside the box contact is also allowed. The initial contact was not a foul and was outside the box. if that was all that happened play would have continued. inside the box however the contact ramped up to foul level and Jones went down. you would never give a free kick or foul for the contact outside the box' if so games would stop all the time. The issue isnt when the contact started but where the foul occured. great play by jones to win the peno as he stayed up despite light co

  27. Would anyone consider signing a new LWB and look to move Bola on? Even if it isn't until the end of the season. Yes hes a decent player at this level but seems to have massive problems staying fit and the unreliability is turning into a big issue for him unfortunately.

  32. Jones is already being converted to an unfamiliar position anyway, given he was a winger until Wilder came in, and half of his career appearances (including for the U23s) were on the left wing. So I'm not sure it really is a round or a square peg. But I do think Jones has been largely excellent, so I wouldn't move him unless injuries forced it.

  33. Big blow. I wonder if Jones could try on that side if need be, if we're recalling Spence.

  37. My son plays at a good level and is only 13. He trains 3 times per week, did play sat and Sunday and the club felt that 2 days playing was too much for them. To be honest my son was knackered by Sunday and he is mega fit. saying that though these clubs have big rosters of players etc. but at the end of the day it’s about money. You can’t field a week team as the stakes are so high. They need to play through this ‘pandemic’.

  38. When there's loads of games called off in Sunday league we have to play 4 games a week and I have to pay for the pleasure... You can see it from the other side though, you'll be much more likely to sustain a season or career ending injury, they're not doing it because they're lazy. They shouldn't have put the January break into place though as it's clearly causing fixture congestion.

  39. Sounds like far too much effort, I'll be having a takeaway. Anyway should be a good game this, can't be bothered answering all those questions but I've said before you'll see the best of Sporar with Payero playing behind him and I'll keep saying that until I'm proven right! I'd love a win but I feel that a draw is probably the more likely result.

  40. If the players go on strike and refuse to play won’t that make the looming fixture list even more congested?

  41. Looks like this is set to be our biggest crowd for many a year with a near sold out away end should be a cracking game and atmosphere as two sides battle it out for 5th place. I'm hoping the loss of Spence will impact forest as they seem to play similar formation to us but without Djed will be vulnerable to pace. Come on boro let's battle for what will be a massive win

  42. I know you said not to be taken seriously but just for clarity in case this is at all confusing to anyone... From what we do know about the situation and have heard from the Staffordshire end, the police presence is nothing to do with the behaviour of away fans we've spoken about recently. I actually raised that point to the other MSF members asking if it was to do with that but what we have heard suggests this was something else. I'm willing to accept that even just based on the feedback we've actually heard from people at the game as to be honest, the police presence wasn't inside

  43. 1: Unchanged team? Knowing Wilder, probably. As usual only changes for fitness, injuries etc. 2: Will Taylor get even better? Who's Will Taylor? Just kidding. Hard to judge after just 1 game, but obviously hope so. We need the extra defensive capability. 3: Do you think both teams are happier without Britt Assombalonga? Happier without his wage packet, certainly I would imagine. 4: Is it time to finally unleash Payero? Maybe as a second half sub? Think its only fair he gets the chance to show what he can do in a Wilder team. Now we're playing be

  44. Pretty good summary of our situation by RA. I'm not especially optimistic about this season. The wasted first few months under Warnock have got me treating this as a transition period. So I'm keeping expectations low and just happy we finally have a decent manager in place. Our team (and squad) are clearly functioning far better than they ever did under Neil, so there's that to be thankful for. Boro are actually good to watch at times now! But we're also a work in progress, with some obvious deficiencies still to be sorted out. Hope we're able to make some progress on this front

  45. Feel much the same mate. I think there's a feeling behind the scenes that something special is brewing but I'm happy to take the rest of this season step by step, let it develop and if we do something good at the end of it, special kudos to the football part of the club stepping up to the challenge sooner than expected. I think on the pitch we've seen some improvements in terms of the football. The next big step on that front is transfers. There should be a much greater freedom for Scott to operate how he actually wants to in January vs. the half-arsed approach we had in the summer, stuck

  49. Round 22 - sadly I have gone with majority of thoughts and have void the postponed game. Apologies to matches where this result would change fixture outcomes. Moving forward any postponements that are postponed outside of the fixture times will be classed as void. I fear this will become far more frequent and the only way to run the league to keep people interested as otherwise we could be waiting weeks for a round to finish.

I've no doubt they've got absolutely zero interest in protection the competition, or the lower leagues, but I've always hated replays so it doesn't bother me particularly. I know I'm an outlier with that, but I've never liked the financial argument and it certainly doesn't help smaller clubs in a sporting sense. I'm more annoyed about the FA Cup final continuing to be played before the end of the league season, that's diminishing it.

They've strengthened the format by removing replays.  Yeah right.  I suppose it's better than saying that the game in this country is run for the benefit of half a dozen clubs, who incidentally, would drop being part of football in this country in a microsecond if it suited them financially to do so - hence the clubs who were supporting the Super League not long ago, and still do support it whatever they might say publicly.

If he's got issues off the pitch then it puts some of this season into a bit of perspective I'd say.  I know his body language has been mentioned a few times.  If he's having a rough time of it outside football then it stands to reason we wouldn't be seeing the best of him regardless of the injuries.

Ref for Leeds game is Chris Wilder's favourite sarnie muncher Tony Harrington who we last crossed path with at Preston when we played them off the park but still ended up losing 2-1. He has awarded six penalties this season including four in his last three games, three of which were against the home teams. Usually three or four yellows a game, but seven on more than one occasion, so stats seem to indicate that he is prone to losing control of things but shouldn't have problems with a Boro-Leeds game 🙂. Andrew Kitchen is fourth official so local lads well represented. Seven of his last eight games have been in Prem (Preston being the other), so would appear to be highly regarded by those in charge. Big question to be answered is white or wholemeal bread and what filling 🙂
