  1. Got to say credit where credit is due, I’m hugely impressed with the business we have done so far. The fact that other clubs were willing to pay a higher percentage of Flo’s wages but we were the club and player’s preference. The fact that we’ve edged out Celtic for McGree, a club who have the pull of European football and a manager the player already knows from his time with the national team. I just feel like it speaks volumes to the project that Chris Wilder and Kieran Scott are building. Very exciting times to be a Boro fan.

  3. - Payero Potentially may be going out on loan (no option to buy) if we get 2 players in and our T&C's regarding his full wages are covered. His preference is to back to Argentina but clubs can't afford his full wages but interest also coming from German and Italian clubs who can cover his 18k wages. Deal is to get him 1st team football and come back for the summer. Deal makes sense especially if we don't renew Howson contract although talks have begun on that front but it will be even further reduced terms. Not sure if people are aware but Howson's last contract extensi

  5. Feel a little strange posting this but just wanted to thank all the members for their contributions to the site. Been struggling for the last 2 years. Often go to bed on a night wondering whether it would just be easier to stay asleep. When i do wake up and try to pretend everything is ok and go to work as normal this forum is a genuine source of escape for me. Thanks to all. #UTFB

  6. McGree is an Aussie being bought from an American club in fairness. Most of our signings are likely to be from the British Isles because we're a British club. That's just a fact. I never really get why people are bothered about where players come from? I'm bothered about how good they are, are they decent pro's, can we afford them.

  14. I must say you have some of the...more unusual takes on here. Think there's an argument Crooks has been our best player this season! He'll have a huge part to play for the rest of it.

  15. Struggling with a new culture and new language, let's loan him to another country with a new culture and language! Italian would be easier to pick up than English for him, and Argentine culture derives a tonne from Italian, but I'm still not fond of it as an idea. Sending him to Germany is just back to square one.

  18. Don't agree with slagging AFCON, massive tourney for African players and no less prestigious than the Euros/Copa. Seem to recall a certain ref having an utter shocker at the world cup one time and dishing out 3 yellows to a player, guess that makes it a mickey mouse tourney too 🤷‍♂️ That said struggling to see how DZ could be construed to be racist or making (borderline) racist comments. Agree or disagree with the point he's making all you want, but he's been very clear that he doesn't respect the tournament due to its scheduling. Nowhere has anyone's nationality, race, culture or

  20. It is promising though that we are buying players to suit a formation and a style of play rather than whoever we can get our hands on, think that was part of the issue at the start of the season under Neil, we had his Championship stalwarts come in alongside Scotts boys so it all looked very disjointed, not to mention the constant change of formation and tactics. With Chris he knows how he wants to play week in & week out, and he has a set formation. There might be great players available but if we can't fit them into these positions then it's pointless having them, so I am glad the n

  23. Interestingly Muniz signed for Fulham ahead of us - said at the time they had a better chance of going up and they had London as a pull. But he too has hardly played. When he has - hasn't done much. Think its hard to adapt to this league.

  28. I’m not sure if this is the strategy or not, but how refreshing it is to see players come in to the squad before we let others go. I’ve said it a few times on this thread now but I think we do actually have a professional system for incomings and outgoings rather than how other recent windows have played out. It could be said that our two best signings of the season are our Director of Football ( forgotten his name) and Wilder.

  29. You're right, mate. I don't mind as long as we sell for an adequate sum and purchase as good (or potential we can develop in good time) for less. If we think we can get two good players for every one we sell one then the model will work itself out eventually, for sure. The problem I have personally is with some people's idea Tav could or should be sold for £5m when apparently we're open to buying a replacement for a similar amount. These are Prem clubs looking at Tav and we're looking to buy from the MLS. We'd be better off keeping Tav and not getting involved if the two fees were so simi

  32. A young 23 who gives his heart and soul to the club and I feel it sad so many supporters have written Tav off. I may have been critical of his goal tally and final decisions but I still saw a player in development worth investing. I don’t support those that have turned against him.

  34. He’s not a fancy name, but no one was excited by Crooks either. He’s turned out to be our best signing and arguably our player of the season. I trust Wilder to get the best out of all the players.

  41. Like I said before, having watched him loads in PL2, he's far too good for that level. He's on the fringes of Arsenal's first team, it's like he's not quite ready for the PL just yet but he's well above the level of the Championship. He's going to tear it up here, just wait and see. I'm sticking by my 10 goals target for him.

    • John Ruddy been officially let go by Wolves it seems, I wouldn't be totally against him signing. Was always a Good Championship level keeper for both Wolves and Norwich. I read something regarding George Friend a few pages back the other day and I would be totally all for it, would add some great leadership and the fans would surely be right behind him still and as a left sided centre back I think he could do a real job for us even if just as a back up option. Also heard the Rhodes rumors and I personally believe he is a perfect Wilder Striker, such a hard worker and a great finisher. Which leads me to my final former Boro player, Ben Gibson. I again would love to see him return and think he could flourish in the left sided centre back role for Wilder's system. I do think the best options for those outside centre back roles are more suited to a full back converted/secondary centre back but at Sheff United Wilder didn't always have that option and was still greatly successful. If Fry was to leave Gibson would be great in the middle of the 3 of course.
    • Very strange move, but apparently it's a three-year contract and for good money. He'll finish is career mid-table in the Championship.
    • Nothing mate. Just a hunch feeling.
