  1. Feel a little strange posting this but just wanted to thank all the members for their contributions to the site. Been struggling for the last 2 years. Often go to bed on a night wondering whether it would just be easier to stay asleep. When i do wake up and try to pretend everything is ok and go to work as normal this forum is a genuine source of escape for me. Thanks to all. #UTFB

  2. Us and Stoke shouldn't be in that article. It's just parroting the Telegraph's pile of dogshite they posted yesterday trying to ragebait clicks from salty fans of cheating clubs. We routinely lose the maximum amount we're permitted to under FFP and it's an area Gibson really has his finger on the pulse. We've had windows where we've voluntarily acted like we were under embargo (thinking Mowbray and Woodgate days) to stick within our limits. Some donkey from the Telegraph's looked at our losses from last season without considering we've shifted on some of the most expensive players we've h

  3. @Youngy228first of all, very brave of you to speak up on here. Many wouldn't. As most of you know, I like so many have had a tough couple of years myself, and, with social contact limited, it's been a great comfort to find people online to have a chat and a laugh about the less important things (and remember, that's what football is!) Keep looking upwards, pal.

  6. Appreciate all of the responses here. I'm doing ok at the moment which is kind of why I wanted to thank people for the forum. I know different people use it in different ways and for a variety of reasons. But as I said for me it's a great escape and I enjoy reading people's views and seeing their discussions regardless of whether I agree with them 100% or 0%! So thanks again everyone.

  9. Why? He literally saved the club from League 1. And after being told he was finished, he took the team away to WBA and got a proper performance out of them. Have a little respect for the man.

  10. I've had those feelings of hopelessness as well, @Youngy228. I spent most of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021 going to bed hoping I wouldn't wake up in the morning, and then feeling sad when I inevitably did. The first few months of last year were the worst of my life, for a variety of reasons, but circumstances have steadily improved since those bleak days. I've deleted my Facebook and Twitter accounts (and I previously left FMTTM) because all the baiting and bitterness was becoming more harmful than beneficial, but oneBoro is one of the few sites I still contribute to - precisely beca

Iā€™ve not contributed much over the last year, Iā€™ve been through the mill, but I still check out this forum every day and I agree, itā€™s cathartic and there is a real sense of community. look after yourself UTFB

  14. I've said my piece on the survival. People have a go at Woodgate for being crap but hold Warnock in high regard for saving us from the position Woodgate had us in. Any decent manager would have saved that squad from relegation, it was abysmal to be there to begin with. Thankful for how he approached it when he arrived but since that season ended, he's been nothing but an array of excuses padded by rants about referees. I couldn't care less about the West Brom game with regards to him as a person or manager, I don't know why anyone would. I still have nightmares of Brum at home when w

  22. Got to say credit where credit is due, Iā€™m hugely impressed with the business we have done so far. The fact that other clubs were willing to pay a higher percentage of Floā€™s wages but we were the club and playerā€™s preference. The fact that weā€™ve edged out Celtic for McGree, a club who have the pull of European football and a manager the player already knows from his time with the national team. I just feel like it speaks volumes to the project that Chris Wilder and Kieran Scott are building. Very exciting times to be a Boro fan.

  24. Yep it was in the summer after we stayed up. I posted it at the time but the goalposts changed as one of their strikers got injured playing against Burton if I remember correctly. I for one was over the moon he didn't come because I thought he looked extremely raw and we were going to be paying his full 20k a week wages which would of pushed us to our limit.

  25. This really isn't a great way to deliver decisions on a forum we are all part of. Making a locked thread and shutting down discussion about the ban only serves to create an us and them feeling between mods and other members.

  27. I can't believe how many people have suggested we should/could get Dean Henderson. Aside from his wages which are about 120k, he is trying to become England's 1st choice and could get into a good number of top 8 teams in leagues across Europe.

  31. Life's a lot like supporting Boro, it's not easy and indeed is often painful and difficult and you wonder why you bother sometimes. The hard times don't last forever (1986), there are cup runs and promotions interspersed with those relegations and Pulis ball. Every so often along comes a Charlton, a Rioch, a Robson or a Karanka and life suddenly seems a lot better. Granted those good times don't last but neither do the bad ones and before you know it they are all consigned to the past. Better things do come along and like Boro there will be a Wilder effect soon and usually when you least

  35. Then speaking as (a) someone who has experienced quite a bit of anti-English xenophobia during three decades in Scotland and detested it, but also (b) someone who regards CT as one of the most knowledgeable and observant people on this board, I hope he returns after his ban to continue posting all sorts of MFC-related content, while avoiding anything which strays into the realms of bigotry or racism.

  36. CT takes great pleasure in staying just inside the lines of what's acceptable... most of the time it's pretty funny. I wouldn't have banned him personally so get what other posters are saying.... But also feel for the mods if they've received genuine complaints from others as they're caught between a rock and a hard place at that point. He was asked to reign it in several times on this thread over the last day or two and carried on pressing buttons... so it was hardly out the blue. I'm sure he'll be back.

  37. This is getting ridiculous, there are almost more mods than standard forum members these days. I do tend to agree with Will and Humpty that the power has gone to some of the mods heads and that they certainly have their favourites. As a long standing member of this board, I have to ask you to reconsider banning CT, Alan. I know you had some personal beef with him yesterday but itā€™s unfair to use your position of authority in this way. Banning people is not the answer itā€™s a draconian act and doesnā€™t sit well with me, CT is an articulate and intelligent poster and he knows h

  38. I think itā€™s often because the discussion afterwards is more ruthless and opinionated than the original incident. Modā€™s and Administrators have to make judgement calls on things and like a referee itā€™s a call based on interpretation rather than on an absolute. Debate is healthy but nit picking and scab pulling are not often the best ways to do and change things on this forum. Viewpoints get entrenched and a verbal war of attrition commences. Like I said itā€™s a judgement call, but it would have been better maybe in the locked thread to remind folk they can always privately PM th

  41. Options, Adaptability, youth. All these words could be used to describe most of the incomings we have done so far. Lots of members of the squad are on loan, but imo the balance we have between permanent and loan in the first team squad is good, yes we run the risk of them playing so well we cannot get them back but thatā€™s a problem Iā€™d willingly take over permanent signings who donā€™t quite fit the bill and donā€™t have a contract to work for. If we got promoted we would need the flexibility To look at our new requirements and this method does just that. So just under another 18 d

  43. If Mel Morris owned Boro, then maybe we would gamble on selling Spence. What would happen if he got a bad injury? Gibson wouldnā€™t be so stupid, having stuck his neck out to sue Derby. If we were near FFP limits, then we wouldnā€™t be paying loan and transfer fees in this transfer window. We would be telling Wilder to make do this season and then he can splurge the money in July, after end of current financial year.

  46. A bit like the SPL then! Can I say that, or am I being racist to stereotypical bandy legged kilt wearing ginnocks with delusions of Champions League qualifying round grandeur or don't they count and are considered fair game? That basically is not far removed from many comments posted on here about Scottish Football in general and Celtic FC in particular all afternoon on here. I fully get DZ's indifference to AFCON. Despite the fact it has some of the World's greatest and most talented footballers it is interspersed with incidents that question it's credibility. I personally don't wa

If Dijksteel does not start this, then the writing really is on the wall for him, if its jot already anyway. I actually don't think he will start. I think Paddy will come in and we will change to a wing back system with Jones and EngelĀ - which will say a lot about what MC thinks of Dijksteel in not trustingĀ him at RB or as a 3rd CB (he played his best football there for us) Also would not be surprised to see Hackney replace Greenwood and plsy in an advanced role but rather Silveria or GilbertĀ there: Dieng Paddy VDB Clarke Jones Howson O'Brien Engel Silveria LL AzazĀ
