It's been really interesting seeing people's views on this. I personally have no love for Derby as a club or a fanbase but I do recognize that they are one. I have no desire to see them go out of business as ultimately the fans will suffer. However Derby have cheated. They knew they were and what's more they seemed to take a great pleasure in telling people at the time. I do not personally think they should be able to write off debts to hmrc or anyone and still retain their league status.9 points

I keep logging in to check on the transfer thread...but then I remember that we have shopped early. I love competence...but it's so less exciting.8 points

Anyone who's worked with a businessman like Gibson knows there's two options now: 1) Offer him a face-saving option where the optics show he backed down but still 'wins.' Of course, this would mean Derby need to swallow their pride and wash it down with a helping of humble pie. They'll also have to give him some costs but they'll survive. More than money, Gibson wants acknowledgement he is right. After Morris tried to humiliate him, this was always coming. 2) Back him into a corner and play a game of chicken with the future of the club. Cross your fingers he gives in to your social m7 points

The whole situation stinks right now, I'm just very suspicious about their admins. Hoping Gibson doesn't back down, and that they compromise. I want them as a functioning club in League One.6 points

Which also would mean, unless I'm mistaken, there's no need for us to solve the claim situation by February. Quantuma getting the violins out, trying to damage us and our claims with public consensus whilst also having a plan that avoids them having to sell their players and give them a chance of remaining a Championship club and a better prospect for any buyer. Get stuffed.6 points

So if I have this right all the Derby fans are asking for is for Gibson to drop his claims, HMRC to cut their tax bill by tens of millions of pounds, exit administration without selling any players and if they just get these small concessions we could all have played our part in #SaveDerbyCounty? To my knowledge every other club in their situation has had two options be it Portsmouth, Bury, Bolton or Wigan and here are those two options: Option 1: Sell your assets and pay your creditors allowing Administrators time to find a new owner. Option 2: Cease to exist. Why do Derby5 points

Maybe Mel could offer Steve Pride Park as full and final settlement? Imagine DCFC surviving but SG being their Landlord, there would be a meltdown in the Peak District. Worse still if they do survive under that scenario and Ashley is the new owner they will be screaming conspiracy especially when Steve Gibson replaces the Steve Bloomer Statue with one of himself.5 points

How would it not be genuine? It's from the official MFC twitter account and links to our official website?5 points

Okay, I take back quite a lot of what I've said about Steve Gibson in the past. That statement is absolute 🔥, as the kids would put it. And of course Derby fans aren't happy, they've been lied to by their ex-owner and the administrators, who have actually made their situation even worse.5 points

I wasn’t aware of that issue with St Johns, well done the Rams Massive, you never know when you will need the help of St John folk. Thats massively improved my opinion of their fans and lowered my views on MM and the administrators. You don’t not pay St John.5 points

Just this, forget about buying players concentrate on paying your tax bill, as don’t forget that money is owed to the British public and would pay for hundreds of new nurses, (or six NHS diversity managers 😆).5 points

Well if Derby get a tax discount every club in the country should ask HRMC if they too can get a discount on their taxes. You should never give discounts on taxes as it blatantly opens up for shady people to speculate in it - like Mel Morris.5 points

Come Deadline Day and Derby are still in this mess, it will be like the end of that Apprentice task where they are literally chasing people down selling them £10's worth of product for 50p4 points

"your failure to conclude what should have been a relatively simple task of bringing Derby County out of administration" uhh, not pulling any punches there 🙂4 points

Safe to say that the EFL is not impressed by the administrators at all. What the hell have they been doing for all this time? They haven't resolved any issues, they've managed to scare away one buyer by dragging their feet and haven't brought any funds into the club by offloading sellable assets. They are making a mockery of the EFL.4 points

That's massive news, changes things fundamentally for a lot of top clubs. Chelsea and the like especially.4 points

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if it came out that MM actually owns Quantuma through one of his shell companies. Then man is a crook without morals. But i suppose the Derby fans can start a crowdfunding to pay the HMRC.4 points

That actually looks about as good as a sponsor on a shirt can do in my opinion. Nice change from the great green eyesores of the past.4 points

First thing I'd do if we went up is spend £15-20 million on a class keeper and another £5-10 on a number 2 keeper. We really shot ourselves in the foot with the keeper situation last time3 points

The championship is going to be more and more used as a glorified pump and dump scheme. A line needs to be drawn in the sand of these continued efforts of gambling an entire footy club on immense gambles of wild accounting practises and breaching FFP to pump clubs into the prem and then hope to flog it to other buyers later on. Why the *** should Gibson just roll over and accept this crap when it screws us over and it explodes for those clubs where it fails. If an example isn't made it'll keep on happening The EFL nor the politicians want it to end as they see it as drawing i3 points

I cannot understand how they're not getting pressed on this. They think they can stay up by keeping the players - that's why they're so desparate to paint MFC and WW as the one and only obstacle.3 points

Has anyone ever seen a team in administration only sell 1 bit part player for a total of £30k, yet complain that others are causing them financial issues and will be the cause of their liquidation? Lawrence, Sibley, Buchanan, Bielik, Knight and Jozwiak more than cover the money they need to reach the summer. Wonder why they're not interested in selling them...3 points

Disgusting behaviour. I hope the club take action against him as well. Even though he is on loan, he is still representing us and it is not behaviour I want to see from one of our players.3 points

Funny I was thinking along those lines Borodane. MM appoints this company as administrators and they use the same diversionary tactics and disinformation as MM did, hmmmhh strange!3 points

The hilarious thing on the DCFC forums is that our legal bid is both completely frivolous and will be thrown out in a minute and at the same time the key thing that is holding up any bidders from submitting a bid... there's no sense that both things can't be true3 points

Derby's plight is one of design rather than ineptitude, they chose to deliberately live beyond their means without regard for the Club, Fans or competition. Whilst I know a few Derby fans and they are proud of their club as we are of ours, I haven't reached out to get their feeling on the matter just in case they've bought into this bull and would rather remember them as football fans as opposed to these delusional characters, refusing to pay the piper, or anyone else for that matter.3 points

I seriously doubt if he ever resolved any cases with that mindset. This is the guilty party your honour, we want you to set them free and charge the constable that caught them red handed instead 😃3 points
-
It's hilarious that he openly accepts that they cheated, but then immediately pivots towards the idea that they're victims and the punishments were unfair.3 points
-
If they survive all well and good, but they need to acknowledge as a club what they've tried to do and pay their bills, especially to the HMRC as that effects everyone, football fan or not.3 points

I don’t see how it could be resolved without either a decision on the filed cases or we and WW withdraw but Derby still need to prove they have the financial backing to finish the season by Feb 1st. Of course there will be local parties vocally joining the arguments because it’s a platform and opportunity for gaining electoral votes, nothing else. Derby cheated therefore they must be held accountable and the EFL must stringently enforce its rules.3 points

I've no doubt they've got absolutely zero interest in protection the competition, or the lower leagues, but I've always hated replays so it doesn't bother me particularly. I know I'm an outlier with that, but I've never liked the financial argument and it certainly doesn't help smaller clubs in a sporting sense. I'm more annoyed about the FA Cup final continuing to be played before the end of the league season, that's really diminishing it. -

They've strengthened the format by removing replays. Yeah right. I suppose it's better than saying that the game in this country is run for the benefit of half a dozen clubs, who incidentally, would drop being part of football in this country in a microsecond if it suited them financially to do so - hence the clubs who were supporting the Super League not long ago, and still do support it whatever they might say publicly. -

Hednesford swapped to play their tie here rather than at home. -

If he's got issues off the pitch then it puts some of this season into a bit of perspective I'd say. I know his body language has been mentioned a few times. If he's having a rough time of it outside football then it stands to reason we wouldn't be seeing the best of him regardless of the injuries. -

Ref for Leeds game is Chris Wilder's favourite sarnie muncher Tony Harrington who we last crossed path with at Preston when we played them off the park but still ended up losing 2-1. He has awarded six penalties this season including four in his last three games, three of which were against the home teams. Usually three or four yellows a game, but seven on more than one occasion, so stats seem to indicate that he is prone to losing control of things but shouldn't have problems with a Boro-Leeds game 🙂. Andrew Kitchen is fourth official so local lads well represented. Seven of his last eight games have been in Prem (Preston being the other), so would appear to be highly regarded by those in charge. Big question to be answered is white or wholemeal bread and what filling 🙂  Â
