  1. WIMPY MILLWALL LIONS v THE MIGHTY LION OF THE MIGHTY BORO Saturday 12th March 2022 Kick off: 15:00 Location: The Den Preface: Here’s a moment I had optimistically hoped wouldn’t arrive. The longer I stayed away from the role as MDT author, the better the Boro were doing. Alas, here we are, and here I am, bringing you the match day thread for our trip to The Den, the home of former £7m purchase goal scoring(?!) midfielder, George Saville (oft in the wind I here echoes that we also tried to sign Jed Wallace as part of the same deal…) The more observant of yo

  11. Again for a bit of perspective, Wilder has only had one transfer window to shape this boro team. I think we can all agree that this team isn’t his. From a coaching perspective, he has transformed how we play on the whole. But again, he’s still using other managers players. The fact that this is the worst defeat we’ve had in his short stint so far is pretty good on reflection. And it was against Sheff United who are no mugs either. They were simply better than us in ever area of the pitch. That doesn’t mean that we need to rip up the Wilder blue print. It’s disappointi

  13. Couldn’t Stevie Gibson put a cheeky bid in 🤔
    1 point
  14. I can’t see Quantuma rejecting a bid without putting it to the creditors unless they have reasons for doing so that will stand up to legal scrutiny. They stand to lose too much professionally by doing so. Anyway they said yesterday they were still dealing with bidders(in plural), didn’t they? Two possibilities strike me (there may be others, like total incompetence, of course) Firstly, they know the bid simply isn’t enough to satisfy one or more of the large creditors. Say HMRC would rather make an example of Derby than settle for a few million. If they’ve already talked to them about i

  15. Originally when they bid the bid was reportedly 28m no stadium, now it's 30m inc stadium, suggesting the bid for the club itself is now way less?? (we know the stadium to be around 20m alone). Derby fans are, of course, blaming Steve Gibson for this latest development.

  19. I saw a huge lack of bravery in the Sheffield United game, Wilder often talks about players wanting to get on the ball, but this wasn't evident at all. The midfielders need to be so much quicker, braver and smarter when receiving the ball to beat the press. Countless times Crooks, who's been one of our standout players, went long when being pressed. I fully believe that all our midfield 3 have the skills to beat the press, even just their first touch can make so much difference. We've seen plenty of times at home games when Howson, Tav or Cooks beat that first man and drive forward, we l

  20. Wonder whats going to happen when Chelsea have to pay the next installment on a whole host of their expensive players, if the embargo isn’t lifted before. Will the former clubs demand their assets back if Chelsea default on their payments?

  21. The other thing that I just thought about is that even if Chelsea have purchased tickets, can the club even deliver them or make them available to collect? I guess if they are capable of fulfilling fixtures then they should at least have people around for ticket collections but can they even pay for the mass delivery of them to homes?

  22. Slow, non-aggressive starts get the home side and fans pumped up. They then score first and it's a huge uphill battle. Individual errors at the back. Can't handle being pressed and we constantly pass back to a keeper who doesn't want the ball. Playing small forwards then hoofing it at them, not playing to their strengths. I'd still like to see Crooks in a front two as an experiment, think he'd be class there. Jones is our only out ball and everyone knows it so we get pinned back. Key players are tired and our backups are poor. I'd also caveat Sheff Utd looked pretty

  28. From the gazette It's not known exactly how this will affect Boro, but usually the protocol in the FA Cup is that away clubs buy an allocation of tickets from the home club before putting them on sale to fans and will therefore take a loss on any unsold tickets.
    1 point
  29. Very grey area too. It depends on whether Chelsea took liability of the full compliment and are now left with tickets they can't sell. I don't know whether they can hand them back to Boro for sale to Boro fans. It's unprecedented.

  35. He isn't the problem until he is... If Lumley doesn't make at least a couple more high-profile, point-losing errors before the end of the season then I'll happily eat my words. But people were saying he was doing alright before the QPR game. I don't know about the strikers, part of me thinks they've been poor then part of me thinks how many chances have we actually created for Balogun to show his finishing off... And what's Connolly meant to do with balls cannoned at his face. Sporar's finishing has been awful though. All three are leaving in the summer and I don't predict too many t

  36. No chance John Swift is going anywhere in the Championship as cover. 11 goals and 13 assists from midfield so far this season, only 26 and he's a free agent. He'll be hot property.

  38. As much as I never thought I would think it let alone type it Lumley isn't our problem at the minute. The last few games he has done as well as I could have expected. In fact I'm even coming round to thinking that if he keeps it up then he may be OK long term. I remember Schwarzer having a few nervous Nelly moments at the start of his Riverside career, he couldn't even reach the half way line with his goal kicks. All we need now is for Balogun and Connolly to have their Damascene moments and who knows? OK maybe that last bit is too far fetched but they can't be as bad as they have been f

  39. That's a highly plausible scenario. Back-pass then a sliced mis-kick straight into top bins. Although to be fair to Lumley he actually wasn't bad last couple of games. Low bar, I know.

  41. Good OP Marvin well done! Have my tickets and will be heading to The Den with Daniel though last time we had a fair few of us meet at the Barrow Boy beforehand and went together. However we are meeting up with Ethers before the match. Little bit concerned because normally you would think trouble would come from Millwall fans however it seems we should be more concerned about our own fans and if there is a place they want to cause problems then this is the one. Understand we are taking nearly 5k with us so a good atmos will be present. Ok a place where we can restore some pr

  42. Very simple, one ticket per SC, it's incredibly simple. Bizarre that the Club somehow gets themselves into these situations.

  43. Not having a go but of course ST holder's seats should be reserved! Why should their ticketing arrangements be messed around with for people who are only going to one or two games a year when a big game comes up? No offence but *** that. If you're a season ticket holder and you want to go with people who aren't season ticket holders then take your chances in general sale if that's what you want to do. As a season ticket holder you are guaranteed a ticket but if you don't want to use that facility then that's on you. If you miss out then it's tough luck quite frankly, you had the chance to

  44. Yeah, Maybe not enough credit has been given to Sheffield last night. They were superb all over the pitch.
    1 point
  45. Who would he have played instead of last night? Peltier would be the obvious suggestion I suppose? Wilder clearly preferred Peltier because he's seen as a better footballer than Hall, and Wilder wants the central defenders to be part of our attacking build up play. I doubt Hall can do that, I never saw anything in him to suggest he could anyway, and frankly as a straight up defender he isn't as good as those already in the side. We could have moved Fry there, and brought in another players (it would be Samba rather than Hall) to play in the middle but I'm not sure that Fry is really the an

  47. Ah come on Nobody's turning on Wilder. He's getting plenty of praise and I doubt a single person on here would swap him. But you can't hide that we've only had 1 win in our last 7 away matches, and for the last two we've looked very bad from the first kick. Some of that blame has to fall back on the manager and how he sets the team up. Just like he deserves massive praise for the way he's made the Riverside a fortress. Why is he not able to bring that form to away matches. He's not absolved of any blame and I don't think he wants to be either. Hoepfully he knows what's wrong and he has the too

  48. The changes should have come in the first half. It was obvious after 15 minutes that we were being run ragged and couldn't get the ball out of defence unless we hoofed it which conceded possession immediately and played into their hands. With all the changes at the back there was disrupted understanding so why stick with his his three CB's that were being pulled all over? Why play Peltier when he has Hall and Bamba? Why stick with Peltier in that role when he was unable to perform the role and also unable to support and link up with Jones and Crooks? I doubt Bamba or Hall could have over

I am back with my Morgan Rogers add ons debate…. Villa have a real chance of winning the Europa conference league now they in SF given teams left. They also have a very good chance of getting Champions League football. @Changing Times. Am I clutching that our coffers might be boosted by an additional couple of million in summer if they achieve above on top of the £10m down payment?

jones shows you never know whats really going on off the pitch with someone, but i think it might just be more to do with his relationship with the club and maybe he hasn't got the confidence that he is going to get the game time he needs to keep his career going where he wants. I think with mcgree if he is moving on its probs been part of his plan to do so anyways, not like he's from england in the first place so he probs wants to see the world and get some good progression with a step up with each move every few years. if i'm looking at it from his point of view he has probs got as far as he going to get with us, he can move on and maybe get in the top flight in another country's league, maybe get a bit of a payrise and see how he does there for 3 years and if he can better himself again. he's been really good for us at times, but think he needed that break out season where he was the star for us and its not happened, and thats probs part on him and part on the club as well as he has shown signs that it might be there. If its true that he wanted out and things are not as good as they used to be between him and the club, I think if I had to pin something on it I would think it might be that we have shown in each window with carrick that we are more than happy with trying to sign people to replace him and take his place in the team even when he has done well. Competition can often bring the best out of people but can also make someone think in that situation that no matter what you do its never going to be good enough.  he's have to commit to us with an extension if he was to stay past this window, if he won't re-sign then its the window the club will no doubt want to cash in on him, should make a half decent profit on the initial fee, but not loads I don't think, like double our money at best given he has a year left and may feel strongly about moving on given the rumours about him, which I'm sure he did say something on international duty that made out he was considering the next steps in his future

I'm pretty sure that a young Irish goalkeeper was given a second yellow during a penalty shoot out, the first was during the game, in the U20's World Cup a few years ago. He was made to leave the field of play and an outfielder had to take his place in goal for the rest of the shoot out. Needless to say that they lost on penalties 😞
