To be honest Tav owes us nothing. I think he will push for a move if offers come in. I don't necessarily think he's unhappy but all that criticism he received very unfairly at the start of the season at at different points through his career will certainly stick with him. I think him and Spence are a lesson to many about abusing our academy/young players before they have even had a chance to develop properly and when we lose them we will have very little chance of replacing them with anything close to their ability.5 points

Wilder keeps mentioning getting better players in, that says it all, he knows the kind of quality needed going forward , the team now is what it is, and have done well , but you have to look forward , a goalkeeper , two centre backs, two in midfield , and three strikers, I doubt we will get them, but I'll bet eighteen months from now , the squad will be nothing like it is now.4 points

Give me a lifetime of supporting a mediocre team all day long instead of sharing a club with clowns like that4 points

I think you can add big Djik to that aswell. Thought those 3 stood out.4 points

Well one of the best things about today is that we aren’t the club Peterborough beat to get their “first win in x games”. Should hopefully stop making typical Boro moment.3 points

Checking the results from yesterday's games, glad to see one of our strikers got his first League goal. Congratulations to young Mr. Kav. Hope it is the first of many to come .3 points

Hopefully this result shows the lads we have to be on it for the next game. Don't want to end up like QPR have here.3 points

You can't do much about a gulf in quality. We got players into Mount's position but nobody stuck it right onto a strikers boot like he did. We had players spoon shots over from better positions than Zieychs goal too.3 points

I honestly feel better about those 3 games than the Peterborough one. This is a massive Typical Boro banana peel waiting to happen.3 points

Some very good performances from many last night in particular, Jones, Dijksteel, Bamba, Tav and Howson. As has been alluded to already on here I suspect that the Chelsea Ikpeazu was too much for Fry and the substitution was a tactical one by Wilder. In fairness maybe his groin was the reason why he didn't cut out the cross for the first goal but he was being outmuscled and brushed aside up until half time. Both of the Chelsea goals came as we were pushing up the other end. A clever series of interplay on the left that passed into nothing saw us cut open when we lost possession. It was pe3 points

Whilst I am sure Tav is ambitious, he also knows that he is appreciated by many as well. At the end of the game, he was on the pitch applauding the crowd and came over to the west stand. Saw his face light up and then he took his shirt off and handed it to a kid and got a big round from those that saw it. Maybe a one off but didn't look like it was just part of the job. If he wants to go, I don't think he would be interested in being a benchwarmer but the effort he puts in deserves a reward, so good luck to the lad. If he makes sensible decisions, he has the ability to succeed at a decent leve3 points

I don't understand why you believe we need a full clear out? We clearly have a team good enough to be comfortable top 6 with wilder in charge... obviously warnocks poor start made it more difficult this season. I can certainly see the benchwarmers going and the loan players. I'd sell all the keepers and promote brynn. Gks- loan signing, brynn, Youth gk. Def- dijk, mcnair, fry, wood, new signing. WBs, Jones, Gibson, Bola, New signing Mid- howson, mcnair, tav, payero, Crooks, mcgree, boyd-munce. Fwds- Coburn, Watmore, New signing x2 I think that's the back2 points

I think some of them want to look up the meaning of tinpot because the irony is lost on them right now.2 points

It’s going to be very hard to keep Jones no doubt. The guy is excellent all down that right side. Up against Pulisic and got the better of him comfortably defensively and offensively I thought. I’m sure they changed their system because of Jones, they didn’t want him up against Alonso, they used Sar for his extra pace. All the good teams want attacking full backs now or wing backs, the guy is perfect for one of them. At least we will get a big fee. I thought Djiksteel also had a good game if only he’d pass to Lumley a bit less. In midfield Tav was excellent as was Howson after a slow2 points

I think he will move mcnair into midfield once a new cb is signed. Defo a new gk, new lwb and two Strikers although I hope coburn can nail down a starting spot regularly next season. Coulson should also be brought into squad. We can't lose sight of the fact that all of our valuable players are academy/ youngsters who we have brought through and given chances to. For me coburn, wood and Brynn need to be playing games next season. We need to balance out signing a few for the here and now and making sure there's a pathway for those lads to also be getting games and we still finish top 6. Tha1 point

Should hopefully be a warning to avoid the complacency that we saw against Barnsley.1 point

I hope that you're wrong about that. I reckon we need at least 5 changes to the starting XI - Two strikers, one in midfield, one left sided player, and a GK. That's half a team right there, and that doesn't take into account players lost because someone above us wants them nor does it take into account other changes we may want to make, such as a left footed central defender.1 point

QPR have capitulated! Peterborough are going to be flying for their game against us in two weeks. A red card or bad injury to a key player like Clarke-Harris would be even better for us.1 point

I agree we do get forward BUT because of indecisive decisions and dilly dallying about the box we are left exposed. We are predictable, attack down the right, pull wide or go back and Jones will always take on a player. We loose momentum and our set pieces are ineffective and don’t shot often enough. A better forward line would resolve most of these issues and come next season, I don’t expect to see many of the faces we see today. Let’s enjoy the rest of the season get into the playoffs and book tickets for Wembley1 point

It's hilarious seeing the plastic glory supporters from abroad crawl out of the woodwork when a team wins. (That's not a criticism of all foreign supporters of clubs, it's a very specific type that you see on social media).1 point

Wilder confirmed in the bbc tees interview that Josh Coburn is giving him real good for thought moving forward which was brilliant to hear. I do think we look more likely to score when he on the pitch than the other 4 at the moment. Against Peterborough I would love to see him start ahead of Connolly alongside Balogun.1 point

My brother was at the game and having spoke with him not long after arriving home it was hard for him to describe the day. Shell shocked for want of a better word and the late kick off didn’t help. Like many he was full of hope but realistic about the chances of beating Chelsea and he thought the atmosphere felt a-bit surreal both on and off the pitch as if players and fans were just waiting for something to happen. He felt we missed an opportunity but also stated we looked really knackered and concerned about the run in and the huge task the club will have to change the squad ready for n1 point

We could go up a place today on goal difference if the other 'Boro' beat QPR! Stranger things have happened. Cmon the Boro(s)1 point

We will lose some of them. That's a given. If we are going to have success it's means letting go of talent at the right moment and for the right price. Whilst I don't think we would/could afford to lose all of our crown jewels at once, losing some will have to form part of the process moving forward. Obviously key to this process is reinvesting the money smartly and enhancing the overall quality of the squad. Whether or not we can actually pull that off remains to be seen. It's clear the club has some success in identifying post-academy talent that can offer something to the 1st team ( Jo1 point

Just got back. I have to say I thought it all seemed a bit flat at first, even before kick off, didn’t quite seem to have that festival feel that I was expecting. At about 70 mins the crowd really got behind them and we ended on a high. Just a shame we couldn’t get a goal for a grand stand finish. Chelsea were a class above as expected and looked in total control to be fair. The way they played from the back, enticing our players to press and then opening us up with quick, accurate passing - I’m sure the lads will learn a lot from that. Don’t want to criticise our players too much b1 point

Just back in.. fair result.. their quality showed when it mattered and despite other opinions, don't think anybody could have done much more. Nobody had a stinker, we were just beaten by a better team. Don't know if it was my imagination, but Paddy seemed to be a little less mobile before injury incident, so maybe an accumulation. Fingers crossed it is not a break as his versatility makes a difference. Dijk did well and Coburn is beginning to use his build to effect bullying defenders in his cameo. Tav generally held his own and although Sol might only be here for this season, I can honestly1 point

Reading surprisingly beating Blackburn has left Derby 8 points from safety with 7 games to play. If Reading beat Barnsley next month, I think that's all she wrote.1 point

Why is it? It's an ongoing issue that hasn't been resolved, with new information coming out every week. Just don't click on the thread if you don't want to read about it.1 point

It does somewhat feel like the increase in ST prices is a forced donation to Ukraine now (not that I have anything against humanitarian aid in Ukraine. I have made my own donation recently). My quick maths shows about £280k being donated from this game that will be donated and the ST increase raising about £500k. It just seems strange the club pleading poverty with one hand and virtue signalling with the other.1 point

Was just about to post the same thing. I didn't finish the second series of AWP but I remember that was the key storyline - they were selling the Transporter Bridge overseas - America IIRC. -

I don't even think people have realised the Lion is that different, tbh, it's the rest of the badge people are focusing on as it's the biggest departure from what we have. It's definitely a lot more minimal but the shape and facing is much the same. It's like it's just had a trim for the first time in 50 years. I'm sure there's a way of working the proper Lion into that kind of badge anyway.

I'm really surprised so many people seem happy to ditch our Lion in favour of the one shown in that design.
