  1. This could just be me. But lately I think djiksteel has not only been better than McNair in my opinion. But overall our best player of late, him and tav (barring the Swansea game). Maybe McNair moves into howsons position?

  2. Was he? Unless he can be at two places at once I dont think he was. Our game v Stoke kicked off at 3pm. At the same time Norwich were playing Aston Villa in Birmingham and Ben Gibson was on the bench for Norwich.

  3. Most of the recent talk has been about Sheffield United and what has to happen to get past them. To be honest I think Luton losing or drawing is a more likely outcome than Sheffield losing. Yes I know they are playing lowly Reading who have been poor most of the season, but Luton are in a bit of a crisis injury wise and also after a 7-0 tanking confidence wise and I don't fully buy into players are already on holiday or have nothing to play for. Further we have a much better goal difference and so a win at PNE and even Luton drawing would still put us ahead of them. Yes we have to win at

  4. No to Ben Gibson for me. Would be too expensive, too high wages and I don't think he is suited for the overlapping CB's that we employ. Excellent central defender but I don't think it's what we are looking for. McNair moves into Howsons spot for me, and we find a new lcb with a bit of pace and skill on the ball (tough ask though). McNair is fairly decent around the box for a defensive player, and we need more goals from our midfield. Good passer, decent pace and strength too. Get him performing in midfield and his stock will rise significantly.

  7. Reading may look like they have a decent squad on paper but 4th from bottom with 86 goals conceded, the league doesn't lie they've been crap, just have to hope they have one good game left inside of them. I'm more concerned about us blowing it, because I think Preston will be up for this infront of their own fans.

  8. exactly my thoughts, even before the fulham game i stated a few times that im suprised that people are looking at sheffield and not luton. As you mentioned, they're cripplied with injury and i doubt reading will be push overs as their squad is actually decent. Danny drinkwater, Lucas joao, tom ince, Baba Rahman, junior holliett, john swift, certainly better than their league position suggests. Also agree that the trope of having nothing to play for is exaggerated. Only need to look to Forest two seasons ago who lost 4-1 on the final day to a 16th place stoke and thus miss out on the

  9. Lucas Joao out of contract with Reading next Summer. Averages about a goal every two games for a poor side and chips in with assists too. Worth a punt? Reading could surely be tempted to sell given their financial struggles?

  11. Could be a good option in my eyes. Reads the game well, gets about the pitch. Good tackler, good passer. Don’t see why not

  12. I'd take Gibson as an option on loan or cheap but wouldn't want to fork out for him. He's not good enough on the ball. Dijksteel is brilliant, the pace and strength of him and dribbling is better than McNair. He's also more skillful on the ball. McNair is better at passing, crossing and shooting. It's a tough one because they both are great players.

  13. Really? I thought Lea Siliki was pretty pivotal in how the lads played from what I saw. He's all left foot so that heavily reduces what he can do but his set pieces were really threatening, he was always trying to pick a pass from deep and was always available for his teammates. He actually looked fit for a change, tonight. Payero looked decent when we got him into the game but that didn't happen often enough second half. Shame he never scored his chance, couldn't have hit it much harder, a little under the bar and that's 2-1 to us and game could go very differently. Their second came at

  18. I'm surprised at how down people are on Gibson to be honest. We've not seen him in a back 3 in a wilder system but I've always thought he was a good pall playing defender, always been mobile, not bad at carrying the ball forward either. I think he would fit that role very well. If you look at Norwich's stats for the season, only grant Hanley and Billy Gilmore have a better successful pass rate than gibbo (81.4% - interestingly, none of our defenders come close to that and only McGree betters it in our entire squad). He is also number one in the entire Norwich squad for passes per game, an

  20. Never been convinced by him. He's had a decent scoring record the past 2 seasons to give him his due but he's been round this division for ages now and I've never really looked at him as one I'd ever wanted.

  26. Yeah he’s massively wasted playing there for me. But he still does a brilliant job, I’d love to see him central under wilder. Moving into Howson position pre season could be a thing. But we definitely need a centre mid and left sided centre back.

  30. yeah we need to see that big game fight, I'm hoping he can pull it out of them like he did in the cup

  31. Well he kind of addresses that by saying that it's unfortunate that the guys who are big leaders like Bamba aren't good enough to start, so I don't think he'll be taking that over technical ability. But watching the Champions League last week you could see Diaz boosting everyone around him, vocally organising the defence and leading by example, Wilder mentions Van Dijk in the article and he's much the same. I love Dael Fry as a player, but he never seems the most vocal or as interested in what the rest of the defence is doing, but at 24 I feel that it's something that will come to him. I'

  33. The trouble/most frustrating thing with Howson and the reason he gets so much grief is because people know he's a good footballer imo. There is the games like the cup matches, and moments during others where he'll turn an opponent and play a nice pass or some other piece of high technical play that the likes of Clayton's and Leadbitters could only dream of. You can see in those moments why he's played at a higher level. But, and it's a big but, after this he turns into Mr invisible for the next few matches. You always knew the likes of Leadboots and Clayton were on the pitch. They go

  37. If there was any truth to this, I'm not sure how I'd feel unless Norwich were willing to take a significant loss. They signed him for £8m less than a year ago and from what I've read he's largely struggled this season. Obviously the most likely outcome is we're still in the Championship next season, but I'd not be happy with the club forking out that much for a 29 year old on the back of a bad season if it wasn't Ben Gibson with his prior connections. Just seems like one of those regular rumours.

  38. I wonder if Gibbo is mobile enough to play that position, particularly the way Wilder has them set up. I mostly worry as he's coming off the back of a season where every time I've seen him he's been getting his *** handed to him (though of course at the level above) but I also remember when Monk played with the high full backs and had Clayton dropping in between the defenders to push the centre backs out wider and Gibson consistently got made to look like a chump when pulled out wide. Left of a back 2 and I'd love him back for this division, left of a back 3 in this team? Not sure ho

  39. Just download the Opera browser which comes with a VPN, then you can watch the match for £10 on the MFC website, even in the UK. It's technically breaking the rules, but you're still giving the club money and not relying on dodgy websites.

  40. He looks a tenancies little f**kee in terms of breaking up play but am not sure if he has the footballing ability of Howson in terms of passing and moving forward with the ball. I am aware I have set myself for laughter here as some dont rate Howson on here but I think he a good footballer.

  44. But surely that time was left anyways though. It's not like they add extra time on, they just add on whats been missed from the match. by your numbers the invader wasted a minute of time, they added an extra minute of time to give the full 3 mins of time with the ball in play. They still would of had that minute surely if the invader never stopped the match.

Who cares what other people think about the Transporter Bridge? I want our badge to represent us, not remind people of us. If it were the other way around, we'd weave Jeff Stelling's rant into the badge and he's not even a Boro fan. 😄 The Transporter Bridge is a talismanic piece of construction of our own making that sits perfectly within the region of the Riverside and the immediate surrounding area. Whether it remains functional or not is neither here nor there, for me. I see it pretty much every day when I go to the office. When I was away as a student or working in London, coming back home by train, the Transporter was one of the last significant things you see pulling into the station and along with the Newport Bridge, it used to help settle me back into remembering my home town, firing off memories of home that remind you that this is where you belong. Not only that but in terms of the badge and the example shown, I think it looks really nice. The colour scheme, the architecture, it sits really nice in the design in blue, as a fitting contrast to the hard reds and whites, the waves representing the Tees which it stands across. I personally think it looks really smart.

Was just about to post the same thing. I didn't finish the second series of AWP but I remember that was the key storyline - they were selling the Transporter Bridge overseas - America IIRC.

I don't even think people have realised the Lion is that different, tbh, it's the rest of the badge people are focusing on as it's the biggest departure from what we have. It's definitely a lot more minimal but the shape and facing is much the same. It's like it's just had a trim for the first time in 50 years. I'm sure there's a way of working the proper Lion into that kind of badge anyway.
