  1. https://issuu.com/louorns/docs/photos_to_pdf_may_31_2022_5.19_pm Transfer plan for the summer with analysis from our friend @Louorns on twitter. Whoever was asking about Tav the other week, there are some updated stats in there and Tav is in the top 10% of all championship midfielders for every stat listed, being in the top 1 or 2% for a few too.

(...) Football League World have been told that Middlesbrough will not entertain any offers for Jones this summer and have a “no-sell stance” when it comes to bids."

  3. Just appoint Woodgate and tell everyone he was the best candidate. That's the right way to do it 😉 If you feel devalued by having seven other people interviewing for the same job as you then you might want to grow up a bit or at least stop by the real world for a few mins to see what it's like for every other bugger out there.

  5. The red top originated in 1899. 1899-1910 (11 years) red top 1912-1966, 1974 (66 years) red top with white shoulders or white collar 1966-73 (8 years) red top 73-78 (6 years) red top white band 78-86 (9 years) red top with white shoulders or white collar 1995+ some combination of red top with white stripe or bib though several of those (2001-4 in particular) were almost totally red. Over the last 120 years our home strip has been a red top with something white chosen from a collar, shoulder, chest bib, horizontal band or flashes for about 100 of those years.

  9. Yeh it would be quite amusing watching us systematically ruin Antonio's career. Confidence in front of goal destroyed. He would end up as our new lwb before he knew what hit him.

  10. To be fair, signing players to fit a particular system would be a step up from our normal transfer windows.

  11. I also heard a while back that we were keen on Clarke-Salter. Came from a fairly well connected Cov fan. It’s where he was on loan last season.

  13. Me neither. Although I'll never forget my first visit as a kid. Saw a Boro fan get completely rolled over the top of a car at a zebra crossing outside a pub. Landed flat on his *** with his trackies down - car sped off. He got up unharmed, pulled his trousers up, and carried on walking to cheers from the drinkers outside the pub. Never even dropped his cigarette. My uncle said to me 'They're 'ard up north.' I was pretty young so thought that kind of thing genuinely happened all the time compared to where we lived 😅

  17. I’ll be livid if we let Payero go. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, his departure just shows how we have learnt nothing from our previous mistakes.

  18. Given Wilder's recent-ish comments about the South American leagues it would suggest we are ready to cut our losses, it's not a loan to help him get up to speed with European football. It would be a loan to put him in the shop window for River Plate, Boca etc.

  21. Anything with a Band but please nothing like the Premier League Sash, Truly awful Kit. Looked liked the band had slipped down. Mind you it probably reflected how the season was gonna pan out. Worst kit ever🙈🙈

  22. i think people saying Mitrovic isn't good enough for the prem have an over-inflated idea of what a normal goal return is in the prem. so below are the last 7 seasons to show you what you needed to be top 10, and where you would rank with a mitrovics record of 11 goals: This season 13 goals was enough to be a top 10 goal scorer, 11 goals would have you placed 14th 21/20 13 goals again was enough to be in the top 10, 11 goals had you joint 15th 20/19 this was the odd season out where 17 goals was needed for top 10, 11 goals had 18th 19/18 13 goals this season again had you t

  23. Next year is the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Jack Charlton! One of his first requests was to give Ayresome Park a lick of paint and to start advertising the upcoming season to promote ticket sales. It marked the end of a dull and mediocre second division era of Boro always being there or thereabouts but never ever convincing or being close (despite Stan Anderson's undoubted best efforts) to being promoted with seven games still left to play.

  32. Actually, because I'm a nerdy stat freak I did some digging and found that out of the 82 kits Boro have had since 1876, (according to http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Middlesbrough/Middlesbrough.htm )only 23 have had white bands...and 3 of those were diagonal, so you may want to discount those. So technically only 24-28% of Boro kits have had a white band. Quite a few others have had white shoulders and various other designs, such as the stripy Dickens and Heritage Hampers kits and pinstripes of the 07-08 and 15-16 kits. There have only been a few periods where we've consistently had

  33. Nah, it's the Afro Caribbean player from the medical centre. We've only just let him out after keeping him safe in there all throughout the pandemic and he's finally set to sign. The bad news is, he's now caught Monkey Pox.

  34. He should come and be an ITK on here then in that case. He'd fit right in 🙃

  35. The white band is instantly recognisable as our kit. Not Liverpool's, not Forest's, not Northampton's, but ours. Without a band, it isn't really a Boro top to me - it's just another generic red top that half the teams in the country seem to play in.

  36. I agree. Newcastle have had black and white stripes since 1894, it's iconic and synonymous with Newcastle. Since introducing it, they've never not used it for their home kit. There's a much shorter history of Middlesbrougu using the band, but it was a master stroke by Jack Charlton and it's something that is virtually unique to Middlesbrough in England and should be embraced. There's plenty of variety to be had without removing the band from the equation. For me, it's been a poor decision every time the club has decided to go for plain red.

  37. You just catastrophised a point I made about comparing the level of commercial income being more significantly based on where we're placed in the football pyramid over our brand identity. Let's not forget that you're talking about competing with the top clubs, the elite. We're not competing with them. The real elite clubs could wear shirts with a turd emoji as a badge for a laugh and they'd still have no trouble challenging us for commercial opportunities. So yeah, in my eyes, you're definitely blowing it out of proportion. Nobody is 'accepting second class status' by saying we're fine to

  38. I think they're more bothered about what division we're in than what shirt we're wearing, to be honest with you. If we were a consistent Premier League team with a consistently changing image then you'd have more of a point, I just don't think it makes enough of a difference at this level or, even if we went up this season, for a team which has spent one year in the last 13 years in the Premier League.

  39. They won't though, will they? It's an entirely subjective thing, MFC's football top is not objectively better with a band on it. What you're really saying is you will disagree with it and a few others will too. Guarantee not enough people care about the band for it to be a 'PR disaster'.

  40. Nah we couldn't do that. We have to play 3-5-2 no matter what.

  41. Apparently they approached the manics first to see what they think. Reveal the adult ones and if popular show the kids ones. The lead singer James Dean Bradfield was quoted as saying "just to clairfy if they tolerate this then the children's will be next?"

  44. As mentioned before - I am happy to run the league this season but will also step aside and just participate if there is someone else with a burning desire to run the league. I intend to spend a little time remaking some of the graphics so that the in-season work is easier so if anyone is wanting to take it over can you let me know below so I don't waste time on it.

No expectations or hope, going to watch it feeling like a neutral somewhat. A good game of football will suffice. Even with a positive run of results, it's too little too late.

I think that says a great deal of how fans are feeling now It's completely flat being a boro fan for many reasons this season and we have retreated so much from last seasons high I for one can't wait for the season to be over! Few more wins and  I am looking forward to see the likes of luke Woolston getting a few chances by the end of the season. I'm sure this MDT will pick up at the end of today's result 🤣

Cowans was a good player in a very good Villa side. Nicknamed Sid, I assume more to do with James than Vicious.
