  1. Absolute buzzing what a way to sign off for the international break. Thought we were outstanding to a man today. I doubted the selection of Burgzorg but fair play to Carrick he got that one spot on. Azaz seems to be high on confidence and was playing with a real swagger. Latte Lath took his goal unbelievably well and is such an unselfish player. Ran himself into the ground and passed to Burgzorg for his 2nd when he could have tried to take it on himself. Doak is a nightmare for the opposition, great ball carrier creates so much chaos and space for the other attackers. Everything just seemed to click for the front 4 today and it was a complete performance. Couple of special mentions as well, I thought Dijksteel was finished after some dodgy performances at the back end of last season but he’s been fantastic whenever he’s come into the team this season. And I know his job isn’t as glamorous as the attackers but I just think Aidan Morris was fantastic again, such a key player for us.

  2. "Recruitment has been tosh. Excluding Doak we have plodders. Ayling now runs like he's 50 years old..." This was you literally 6 days ago, and I cut out three paragraphs slagging off other players, the manager and the team. 😂

  4. What terrific sportsmanship and un selfish play that was from ELL to ensure the fourth goal. He probably could have scored himself but a true gent

  5. Tell you what, I'd love to have Mowbray on BBC Tees every week

  6. Special mention for ayling btw. He's done well today in a position he never plays. He's been moved from right to centre to right to left this season and although he hasn't often been a stand out performer he's always done a decent job. Invaluable to us this season tbh and gets a lot of stick

  7. I square down on my mam's knife that we should've sold Latte Lath to Ipswich when we had the chance and that Carrick, Woodgate and Carrick mk2 are not cut out for the job!

  8. I honestly don’t think we changed how we played. And the performance itself wasn’t all that different than what weve given in other games this season. The main difference in my eyes is we simply took our chances. Same was the case at QPR. Up until the first goal I actually thought if anything they edged it (albeit not creating that much). Our 3rd and 4th goals were both from hitting them on the break. Something which probably doesn’t happen if we aren’t in the lead. This has been the case in many games this season. I think the only noticeable change was Dieng going long a few times. It looked like it was a ploy to try and get joy with quick balls up to Burgzorg and Latte Lath. We've been saying all season that eventually someone’s going to get a thumping from us. The sheer amount of good chances we were missing on a regular basis was silly.

  10. Azaz's second was an absolute worldie. The sort we were lamenting conceding against Norwich. Its nice when they go in for us instead. 😁

  13. Morris going off and what a game he has had he is now essential to our team, so much energy, so much commitment, what a good player he is

  14. It helps when teams give us space to run in behind Not many teams to do that and then its harder to play like this.

  15. Yeah, they totally ***Ed up their tactics here. Know a lot of people wanted him as manager instead of Carrick so it's nice to see our man so decisively destroy him tactically.

  16. Which is why I don't trust xG! We score a hatful when the stats say we looked less likely to score...makes no sense to me at all. 😂

  17. Holy crap! Best game I have seen for a good while (since I missed the party against QPR). I know we were only playing a struggling Luton side, but damn it was good to see Boro live up to their potential. One of those rare occasions where nearly everything went right for us. The players looked like they knew what they were doing and we played some truly sublime football at times. Defensively still a bit suspect (especially after the subs) but good enough to restrict Luton to a single goal. Going to have a big smile on my face for the rest of the weekend now.

  18. What a week. Suddenly we’re joint top scorers in the league. Who’d have thought that six days ago.

  19. 12 goals in 3 games suggests we're finally living up to what the stats suggest we should be getting. (I'm excluding Coventry as we played most of it with 10).

  20. Delighted for Azaz. Really showing his qualities. He is a vital player for us. Has his critics but the lad is class.

  22. Subs time. Morris fantastic. Burgzorg brilliant, shame he's coming off. ELL worked his socks off and been magnificent.

  23. Well this is more like it. Eight goals in 113 minutes. That goal by LL is one of the best I've seen at this level. They look a completely different outfit now. That said Luton have got their tactics all wrong. Never mind I wanted goals and I'm getting them

  24. Morris has been an absolute destroyer for us - they’d have scored if it wasn’t for him. Some of our passing has been poor when we’ve been in good positions though. Can’t argue with 2-0 i guess

  28. I wonder whether today is the sign of Carrick learning. He made the point that the selection was based on how Luton play man to man. Burgzorg, Lath and Dijksteel all made a difference today. Hopefully a sign of things to come. We should mix it up and use our squad to suit the opposition. Really enjoyed it today, apart from us sitting back and passing it around at 4-0, that was just silly. Really loved Morris whipping the crowd up after his little scuffle. Him and Doak are so aggressive it's brilliant.

  30. The absence of an atmosphere section is always a loss. Weird thing to demonstrate against though. It’s not exactly a secret that it’s against the law to set off flares.

  31. I have been Burgzorg's biggest critic at times but we looked really threatening and he played his part, great to see us look so clinical

  32. Also of note RF continued their "protest" today (also known as well and truly throwing their toys out of the pram!) and we still won. Perhaps we don't need that drummer after all

  34. Some of our play today was irresistible. I really hope it has struck home playing at pace is by far our best option and will result in wins continuing. Thanks, Boro. The weekend is looking great!!!!

  41. Big big credit to day to Burgzog, first start for a while and he has really put himself about and disrupted Lutons agricultural defence. Dijksteel and Morris are the pick of the others and finally credit to Carrick for adapting his tactics to match Luton. Very surprised how far up the pitch Luton are playing though I didn’t expect that

    • He definitely won't change so he has to make his way work except the harder he tries the more obvious it's becoming that it's riddled with too many inconsistencies. He needs to take a step back and just fix the here and now so he buys himself enough time to evolve his theories and make them work (assuming he can make them work). He won't however, he's at the stage that if Panel G doesn't fit into Panel J with the screws from pack A on page 23 of the assembly instructions just hit it with a bigger hammer instead of disassembling the damn thing and going back to where it went wrong.  Having defenders running into each other now seemingly weekly and ritual suicide passes gift wrapped with labels and bows on is about as obvious that something isn't right as it can be. We have passed the stage of surrendering good leads to just seemingly surrendering and don't bother with going a few goals up. I'd be up for giving McCabe a try because at this stage nothing is working and the lad does seem to have bit of cheeky confidence. What's the worse that can happen, he gives the ball away cheaply in the opposition half and they score? Nowt new there then.
    • Fair, except although far too casual for my liking Dieng wasn't that bad, glover definitely has the most honkers - except Joe Lumley of course, the jury is out on Travers, the attacker pulled his arm in the jump, although the first goal was definitely a honker from him, just smother it lad. What happened to keepers taking everything including the kitchen sink? Ryan Giles is good at getting crosses in, and he's got a few good crosses in, and also won a few shoulder barges in defensive areas, but he was never going to fix the defence so we can't blame him for the three massive honkers he's pulled in 3 games. It's like he's our honker specialist, brought in at Carrick's express and relentless desire. I was secretly hoping we wouldn't sign him because I could see as clear as a couple of smoky single malts (not too smoky - such as Laphroaig or Lagavulin for eg ) that Ryan Giles' ferocious swinging balls alone would not be enough to get us bang smack back into the playoffs race, we need him to not play for now, Borges was doing alright, Carrick switches the starting line up too much and there's no consistency, except for the continuous stream of gigantic honkers we produce. On the pitch they've even started ironically banging their heads together, as if to mock Carrick with postmodern artistry.  Oh the honkers we've conceded this season. it makes me as sad as when we bought George Saville (no offence George). When you think about all those honkers we've conceded this season it's really hard to feel proud of the team, you know we're going to shoot ourselves in the nuts at any given opportunity, from what I've seen at least. Ultimately it's down to the manager, although it's seriously rough for him to keep losing really good players and he's on a hiding to nothing, he needs to get a settled back four - and why it doesn't include fry when fit I've got no idea, especially when you watch edmundens honkers reel. I swear dael fry doesn't get picked because he's not very good at honkers or whatever. I can see why people are feeling the Boro malaise, makes every single parmo taste increasingly bitter and not enough chips on the side anymore. Regardless 'm definitely not bringing football up in any social scenario at the moment. Look at what forest are doing in the PL Carrick, fyi, it's the opposite of what we do (TBF Chris Wood is a freak atm).  Fans have bemoaned Carrick's inflexibility for a while now and it's clear he needs to factor in other ideas. teams sussed out his plan, we shat the bed and lost all of our swagger, and keep dropping the biggest honkers anyone's ever seen so it's time for some outside of his box thinking from Carrick, or maybe he's managing for his next team anyway?   TLDR: After losing LL Carrick has a mountain to climb, it's an incredibly tough environment for a new manager to exist in, but it's encouraging we are setting those standards as a club, surely there is a manager that can make this model sing, Carrick get your singing trousers on lad.   Utb
    • That's not what you said though, is it?  The tactics make us weak that's why Engel didn't last and even a decent experienced defender in Borges has been largely written off. They're all destined to fail
    • And until this week we were ahead of two of those clubs.
    • I refuse to believe the likes of Blackburn, Bristol city, sheff wed have a better squad than us, Westbrom yea maybe but probably debatable.
