Tommy Smith's good to listen to, hope he makes a go of it as a pundit.5 points

Hackney immense tonight. Super performance.Honourable mentions to Illing Jnr & captain Johnny 'Hatchetman' Howson whos importance now must be obvious to even his most ardent critics. Its no coincidence that since his return the results have improved dramatically.5 points

You can guarantee that people will somehow be annoyed if we try to play a CB at CB tonight. Then if we lost, they'd blame it on that. I think we've got to bring van den Berg back in though, we've given away so many chances in the last few matches, so I don't think we can claim that we're defensively solid right now. But then the trouble is who would you change? Howson was man of the match, Borges scored the winner, Iling-Junior set up both goals. I'd want Whittaker in for Burgzorg too.4 points

I will be writing to Thomas Tuchell and asking him to visit the Riverside to consider two of our players for England. Hackney and Conway 👍3 points

Professional performance , against let’s remember our bogey team. Brilliant goal from Conway but should have had a hat trick. Generally wasteful in the second half but I would have taken that at kick off. Hackney excellent and Borges was having a very good game until he came off. Hope it’s not a bad one as he has been a revelation at CB. Nice to see us back in the playoffs.3 points

Excellent three points against a very physical team whose game plan was to stop us playing, the early two goals put the dampeners on that. Big call to our defence who despite the pressure kept their shape really well and also to Travers who is looking a class act at this level3 points

Too many greedy players . Make terrible decisions. Azaz, Conway and burgzorg worst at it3 points

And then burgzorg does well and azaz does that. Kevin and perry go large those two3 points

Is there a better goal from anyone this season? Hackneys scored a couple from long range but the movement and passing before that one, plus the touch and volley, it has to win goal of the season for me3 points

Quite so,,, he meant to say that he is optically challenged 🙂3 points

I get the feeling Boro are going to have a rough finish to the season - both due to not being able to field our best line-up, but also Carrick's positional picks & tactics. We've had the "easy" games, now comes the reality check, I believe...3 points

I believe. Carrick has learnt from his first season, we're gonna be the team with loads of momentum arriving into the playoffs at just the right time. We beat the Mackems over two legs. Leeds, who were just pipped to second place by Burnley, get smashed in the final. The Wembley curse is broken. Two of our rivals are confined to another season or mediocrity. I drink an inordinate amount of rum. All is right with the world.3 points

Id definitely want to keep Iling Junior at left back no matter who comes in/drops out.3 points

Imagine if this is the season we do actually get promoted. I’d actually be annoyed given it hasn’t been enjoyable in the slightest. Is it of results go our way this weekend we can be 5th? I think if we win tonight then follow it up with a win at home against Leeds, then the atmosphere and feeling will suddenly change a lot of the final run in. Never know, we might just be the team going into the playoffs with the best form.. Blackburn 1-0 Boro3 points

reading some of the stuff on the match texts on the BBC... one that made me smile was Blackburn's xG for first half of 0.01... Ladyspite will be smiling 🙂2 points

Agree he was my early shout for motm he was involved in everything, after he missed that chance the team dropped off and he was feeding off scraps I thought. Even then in the 2nd half he played Conway in with a nice ball and would have had a run in on goal if Burgzorg had have played him in.2 points

SIJ can be signed. Quite like him as a player. No longer looks like he won a competition.2 points

They're turd. Zero confidence, probably won't score. We've been poor but still had the best chances. Game would be long done if we made smarter decisions.2 points

I sometimes wonder if there is only a vacuum between his ears. Yes our points gained has improved but we have looked awful against some of the worst teams in the division and yet it is as if he is unwilling to see the obvious. I give in2 points

Can't see us getting lucky again tonight in terms of not conceding from some of the chances we've been giving away2 points

I rate Burgzorg probably more than most on here but Burgzorg on the Right, FFS what on earth goes on in Carrick's head?2 points
-
I get it, we’re winning games. Don’t change it. But… Gueye is massive and Howson and Borges are going to lose the aerial battle everytime. Mistake for me not to bring VdB back in. Time will tell.2 points

Burgzorg is very very fortunate to not be dropped, especially when Whittaker looked bright when he came on. Not particularly confident with that lineup. If they are as crap as there fans are making out then we should still win. I just don’t like Iheanacho or Burgzorg on the right.2 points
-
Yeah I'm disappointed. Not just for the defence but burgzorg has been rubbish on the right.2 points

Lots of Negative Nosmo's on this thread ! Call yourself Boro fans ? We are in good form and Blackburn are hopeless under their new manager, they have plenty out injured! UTB2 points

He'll probably take Burgzorg out to accomodate Howson on the wing. Or Hackney. That's the level of faith I have in his tactical nous.2 points

There isn't a lot of evidence to suggest Carrick is good at learning lessons..2 points

This is a nailed on 1-0 defeat with Sam Gallagher scoring the winner and he doesn't even play for them anymore. They will have a seagull named after him deflect the ball into the net.2 points

I see it more like a promotion meander. Like we've lost track of where we are, apologised, and scuttled back off to 8th2 points

I think it emphasises the lack of faith the fans have in this team. Even if we win today i just don't trust them to put a run together good enough to maintain a play off position.2 points

4/10 for me. Hard to give him higher. He was injured for too much of the season. It's not a slight on his character but even when he was fit this season, it was a mixed bag.
-
For sure it won’t help but come on, he had a disaster last season even we shredded them.

I've given him 4/10 although a 5 might actually be fairer. What knocks the transfer down a point for me is the fact that he's in his 30's and we gave him a two year deal. That's just poor business, and it was entirely on the back of the spell he had here on loan. It was obvious that it was an outlier in terms of his performance, and people employed by the club should have been able to spot it as well. -
Losing half your team, replacing them with crap, then having your best player go out injured probably didn't help last season.
