  1. Engel is having his medical today and will sign a 4 year deal if he passes it. Shouldn't be a problem.

  3. On another note, Danish side Silkeborg have announced that they are on the verge of selling the 24 year old left back Lukas Engel to an unnamed club. Would not mind him here. 10 assists and 1 goal last season from lb. Silkeborg play a very technical version, so he's definately a talented lad. Has previously also played in more forward positions. Update: local paper says it's Boro. My first scoop.

  4. The amount of bedwetters is unbelievable. Moaning about lack of signings, we got 6 in a week. Squad is better than this time last year. We’ve got a few injuries which couldn’t be helped. I bet the people who are moaning about Chuba not being fit are the ones that would’ve given him away for nothing last year. Get a grip of yourselves, the club is in the best place is been for a long long time.

  5. Flaky information time - sorry but it’s as good as it gets right now because the club are being very tight with information. I’ve been told that there is something in progress right now which is reasonably advanced. And that folks….is it! No idea re position, no idea if it’s perm or loan, no idea if it’s at medical stage, and I can’t tell you why I know something is ongoing but it is.

  6. This forum today has been really good and feels similar to when I first joined the forum all those years ago..... Can I just say a massive thank you. Its really lifted my spirits seeing people disagreeing with each other but doing it in the right way and not personally attacking ✅️ .....(now waiting for @Changing Times to change this!)

  11. He might be suggesting otherwise now but my understanding is he's admitting to trolling with a post that was reported to us. As such, DZ has been given another week's ban. The reason is essentially trolling, which is why the ban is only a week. But we aren't ignoring anything with DZ right now, I'll say that much.

  12. Regardless of the result, today is a MASSIVE win for me..... A year ago this week I was rushed into hospital having panic attacks.... For a long period anxiety and panic attacks has stopped me from doing all the things I love! Today, I can tick off the last thing on my list which is to attend a Boro away game.... Still a long way to go on this , but I am extremely delighted with my achievement and taking each day as it comes Love to all.... PS Engel and Crooks.....Less said the better!

  13. I think we are about where we should be at this point in the project. I don't think anybody expected Carrick to get us to the play-offs last season. I was still worried about going down when he came in. Fact is, he's over-achieved - this has led to a huge spike in expectations. Now people see us as a top 2 contender with a squad that was never ready for it. We were not good enough to go up last year - we scored plenty of goals for a period, but the defence was ***-poor all year, and I think we would be getting crucified week in week out in the prem if we had gone up. People have been

  14. Genuinely happy for the lad. An absolute class act and I don’t think anybody could begrudge him a move like that. Massive club with European football and the security of a 5 year contract on wages that I’d imagine are far in excess of what we could have offered him. I’m just glad he’s got a really good move for himself and not just ended up somewhere like Luton for a season before being back in the champ next year. Thank you Chuba for putting in one of the best individual seasons in our club’s recent history. 🙏

  15. I think people are seriously overestimating how well thought of (by our fans) Ramsey, Archer, Giles and Steffen were when they first signed last season. Ramsey was a bit of a ‘never heard of him!’ reaction, ‘he wasn’t good enough for Norwich’ etc. etc. he only had about 30 career games when he joined on loan. Giles was seen as a bit of a risk too, having had a fairly poor half a year at Blackburn. Yes he’d done well at Cardiff but it wasn’t a wholly positive consensus. Steffen was very much seen as a ‘dodgy’ keeper, because everyone referred back to his mess up for City in the c

  19. What a horrible reply this is. He’s African. People can call him African, because you know…he’s African. For years people on this forum have referred to players as South American. ‘Where are these exciting S.Americans’, ‘where are the Croatians’. But oh no, we aren’t allowed to say African, that’s too far. I know exactly what you and the people who liked your post are trying to say and it’s pathetic and shameful

  20. The Giles deal is close now player wants to come to us fee is agreed the clauses need ironing out. Instagram was at the request of Wolves in case of multiple bids didn't want other clubs being put off by thinking he had made his mind up in case they could get a higher fee for him.

  21. I really don’t understand the need to denegrate players who have done a good job for us the way some people are with Crooks. if he goes I’d be sorry to see it but I’d wish him well. I appreciate he maybe doesn’t fit the way MC wants us to play football going forward but he’s been blooody good for us over the last 2 seasons.

  22. How do we fix that? By not loaning in as many players and developing our own talent. Does that mean we can fill the squad with first team ready players? Of course not, we don't have the budget for that. How do we increase that budget? By selling players at the right time. I feel like people are suffering from memory loss. We knew a lot of these early signings would need take time to develop and now that some of them haven't hit the ground running it's "we've got a league one squad" and "this is the worst window ever". Madness.

  23. McGree rumour had/had legs, we rejected a bid from a Spanish team which I now believe was Rayo Vallecano before the Coventry game. Another Spanish team plus Union Berlin interested but miles apart in terms of valuation. McGree was obviously unhappy but it's never went further than that and I would expect him to stay unless valuation is met. Doesn't look at the moment anything is close atm but obviously that can suddenly change...Lots of enquiries so may see players linked this week but nothing in terms of coming for talks, medicals etc. Player who had medical a few weeks back was

  25. If we wanted Giles, and I’ve no reason to believe we didn’t, then I’m sure we have done everything within our powers to make it happen. But, we are operating within the budget of a Championship club without parachute payments and that is a tough gig when we’re competing with Premiership clubs or recently relegated rivals. Once again these childish allegations of incompetence and complacency etc are doing the rounds from the usual suspects, and frankly it’s pathetic.

  29. Well done fellas. 11 against 11 it was a good game. Dan Neil keeps his gob shut, and it's a different story. But he didn't, he rightly got sent off, and you took advantage brilliantly second half. Still 4th, so not too bad, but great result for you. Well done lads. Enjoy 👏👏👏👏👏👏

  30. I don't get the criticism of Gibson. He's doing exactly what everyone's been begging to do for years - put a long term plan in place instead of going wildly between different philosophies. He's hired a director of football, he's hired a young and attacking coach, he's buying young players who's value should increase if their potential is reached. Yet the first sign of us not achieving instant success he's the one getting the criticism. He may not get all the decisions right but there's a very clear plan in place.

  31. Also how in any possible way is he a snake. This time last year the whole fan base wanted him out the club for any fee we could get. He was literally sent to go train away from the team. He kept fit by himself and came back when he was asked, gave 100% and came back to give the best individual season I have seen in my lifetime. The club have presumably now offered him the same contract as he was last year. From a neutral point do you not think the he deserves a significant pay rise?

  33. So, firstly, the issue with adding Steffen, Lenihan, Muniz, Clarke, Mowatt, Forss, Giles, Archer, Ramsey and Barlaser is that the majority of those players offered no longevity or resale value. Steffen, Muniz, Mowatt, Giles, Archer, Ramsey all on loan is preposterously bad long-term planning. Short-term it was excellent; all good players who carried us to the play-offs. The issue? We now have none of them. Lenihan, Clarke & Barlaser were all solid signings, but they were clearly the outliers there. The whole point of this new long-term planning is to avoid that situation - and dare I

  35. Describing the club as wanting to realise the value of an asset that will be worth zero in a years time isn't 'forcing him out', which is an emotive description I think. In terms of potential scenarios I think him signing a new deal is easily the most remote, given the numbers involved. That means the club will do everything they can to move him on and given the interest in him across at least three different leagues I think his agent is doing his best to bridge a deal. Letting him run his contract down is in effect like paying around £12m to loan him for one season. Lookin

  40. A lot cagier than I thought it would be today but not surprised how it played out. You had a lot of the ball and we were happy to allow that and defend, but you're well enough organised to not give us much on the break. I stand by what I've said to a few people, if you left ours with a draw then it's yours to lose on Wednesday. Early prediction is a 1-0 Boro. On a side note, had a decent chat with a group of Boro fans in a pub after the game on Monday and swapped numbers. Met up before the game today outside the stadium and had a couple of pints, the way it should be.

  42. Really confused to see why Barlasser is the new Boo boy. He is a midfielder that can pick a pass out, shock horror he hasn’t looked his best with Rogers and Crooks fumbling about up front because they didn’t make runs. Rogers dropping into the #10 space and Crooks not being that forward. Against Hud in the cup, he got two assists because we had people running in behind with some space in behind. I don’t think there’s much truth to the rumour, at least I hope not. There’s a player there who could link up well with Latte Lath, and if he went, I don’t see who we would get in who would

  43. Long story. Goes back about 30 years. We used to have a show called "Tipslørdag" (loosely translated as BettingSaturday), where they'd show a game from the top english league. I didn't have a favorite team and was just going into football. United, Liverpool and Arsenal were the popular teams but I accidentally saw a boro match where they played good football and started to look out for them and follow their results. Then after a few seasons they started signing players like Beck, Juninho and Ravanelli and got a bit more exposure, so eventually I got hooked. Just a bit random I guess.

  45. I said a while back I was certain he was coming here (via a family connection). Generally, I am not ITK as don’t have club connections. From what has been said to me, the goalposts were allegedly moved by Luton who restructured their offer to a bigger up front fee and some additional add ons, this somehow suited Wolves more, don’t know what they were mind. I am told we would not agree to get into a potential ever changing auction having already agreed all round between us, club, player and agent, we were his preferred choice, the club happy it would be done, until Luton at the last minute caus

  47. For clarification and to close the matter, DZ and Diggerlad have both been given temporary bans for their part in the whole Shed Head debacle. This will be the final word in the matter, and hopefully we can get back to football and Boro. There really isn't much more discuss on the matter, so I hope we can all move forward from here.

I should clarify i dont mean we should play out every single time. That would just be ridiculous if men are not available/being pressed but playing out from the back should certainly be the first port of call and if not available then try something else if thats the way MC wishes to play.

Just as well or we would have been hammered

We played more long balls against Ipswich than Man City did against Madrid 😂
    •
I watched Man City v Real Madrid the other night and neither of those sides played tippy tappy in their own box the way we do. They both played it long if they were pressed. I presume you would include those two amongst the elite teams? Playing the ball around in your own box does not work for any team ever 🤷‍♂️

So if lets say dieng plays it out long down the channels and they opposition get possession and 30 seconds later they score, I dont see how that is any better? By kicking it long we are more likely to concede possession quicker than playing it out the back. Each to their own but there is a reason why so many elite teams across the world now play this way. And its all good saying players who are not at that level should not be doing so but all professional players can be taught this. Its just more high risk but clearly the rewards are greater as well.
