  1. Sorry SR but saying tonight summed Dieng up is complete waffle. You can count on 1 hand the amount of mistakes he has made this season. Especially those from passing leading to goals. He has been excellent in the whole and got us a point with the 1v1 save towards the end. Not to mention the save from Greaves header in first half. Hemming is untested in English football above basically Northern League semi pro standard. Brynn looks to be more accomplished but Dieng is an international footballer, one of the top keepers in the division.

A few interesting quotes that sound positive. “Middlesbrough is a huge club with a lot of supporters. That's also because you don't actually have many other big clubs here, except Leeds United, although that's not really close either.” “The fans are great. Everyone loves football here. I'm still amazed that almost all home games are sold out and that so many supporters go to away games. We regularly travel by plane, but the fans tr

  3. People saying we would do well to double what we paid for him need to think less about what we paid for him and more about what his value is to us, as a club in a position of relative strength financially speaking going into the summer. It's also about who comes in for him. Arsenal, Newcastle, clubs like that are not skint. People will use that against us if we want to replace him so we should 100% use that against whoever wants to buy him and up his value. If we look at our squad right now, Dieng is arguably the one player who has this season contributed the most consistently good perfor

  6. To be fair to our recruitment I think we have had a few good windows even tho they seem to get a lot of stick. Out of all the signings this year if say there’s only Silvera that seems below par. but he has come from Auz so we may see a better player next year when he’s had a season behind him. Greenwood hasn’t been amazing but he’s young and could improve IF we sign him permanent Thomas hasn’t looked great but hasn’t had a pre season with us and a run of games so hard to judge. Gilbert hasn’t featured enough to judge him either. keepers both solid enough VDB looks

  7. I don't know I really don't. I mean we're on the verge of a great achievement, something unprecedented in 20 years or more and seem unable to finish the task. Maybe we've been away from the top league for so long the players and staff are actually afraid to get back or be involved once again. It's like a shark attack on a small boat in shallow waters and wanting to get back into open water once again, that kind of thing. Something that provides hesitation and trepidation and you're trying to find a way round it or overcome your fears. Can't put it into the correct words but you

  8. Although this was only put up yesterday the amount of posts this thread has achieved has allowed this season contributions to MDT to exceed all previous years and with still 3 games to go. We are on course to overtake the record 30,000 mark season contributions. Many thanks one and all for your continuing support of the MDT and the contributions that you have made thus far. Now come on lets go beyond the 30.1k current record!

  9. Mate what is the point of being a fan if this is your first reaction to a dominant win during a run of 4 wins and 2 draws? You were complaining about how bad we were defensively yet weve conceded 2 goals in 6 games. You wanted us to show flexibility in tactics and switch to 5 at the back, we've done that successfully. All despite still going through an awful injury crisis, especially at the back.

  10. I love RVdB. Not just because he's a Boro player, but because he's a young footballer who really seems to have his head screwed on. Very pragmatic about his career, very astute in the way he thinks. Top footballers have the right mentality as well talent. Reckon he'll go very far, and it'll be an honour to have seen him in a Boro shirt in the early part of his career.

  12. The comments about Azaz seem very similar to what people were saying about Mcgree after he joined in that January window. Daft how quick people get written off.

  13. Really proud again of the team for turning a corner and finishing the season in strong fashion. Not arsed about the play offs at all, but at least they can hold their head high and make me feel proud again. Saturday 2nd March when we got smashed 2-0 by Stoke seems a mile away. 3 goals conceded, 9 scored and 0 defeats out of 6 is a great run with a squad depleted of injuries 👏 UTB

  14. Great result Although reading some of the comments on this thread about certain players and our performance were cringeworthy. I’m a born pessimist (I was born in South Bank!) but honestly - get behind your team. They are way better than us for a reason. And we had 1.2 million players out injured today. And we got a result. Did we deserve it? Yes Did you deserve it? Some of you, no.

  15. Hladký absolutely saved their bacon in the space of 1-2 minutes. Two superb saves to keep us from winning, especially from Clarke's header. Really good game of football, that. Don't think either team really deserved to lose but there was opportunities at both ends to win for both sides. Lath is making this centre-forward business look simple, at the moment. Great delivery from Ayling too, could have had 2 assists with the Clarke one.

  16. Great game. Should have won with better finishing. Some great signs of encouragement for next season. We just need to make sure we transfer some of the so called fans on here to another forum so we don’t have to listen to their boring pessimistic cr@p

  20. Many thanks to all those that have been pushing this agenda to the club, I absolutely detest our current badge. It hurts my eyes so this is exciting but slso worrying. If we go for an older badge slightly modernised (like some of the suggestions here) it could be awesome and I'll love it. If we go further down the faux-heritage design-free clip art style of current badge it could get even worse. Rebranding is a costly business, make this new one good and then keep it is my advice. Even the lion by itself with just 'MFC" could look classy. That would obviously depend on the kit desi

  24. Give Azaz a chance man. He's only been here a few months and despite being in and out of the team, he's still scoring and assisting. I think he's showing great promise and that will only improve as the better players start to filter back into the side i.e. Hackney, McGree etc.

  26. I'd rest everyone for the Ipswich game. Make it really obvious that we are trying to do Leeds over. Then when we play them play a full strength team, and if we are losing then kick the crap out of them. I don't like Leeds much.

  28. Making the playoffs was always going to be a tough ask and this likely kills that chance officially. Still, to fight back into that game again and be the team likelier to win was very pleasing. We're on a great little run and we have to remember we're battling several key injuries too. Lath bags another, he's turning into a real star.

  32. I can't imagine the club will entertain interest in Dieng. There's not a huge amount of cash value in the GK position and it was a problem for us for years. We took advantage of his situation at QPR to get him for a lot cheaper than his true market value. It could cost us at least double what we paid for him to get a player of similar quality as a replacement.

  35. This as well. Poor from the referee today. I know most of you saw the replays at the time, but just thought it might be interesting for any who missed it.

  36. But everyone knows those issues. Everyone knows the limitations of the squad. So why dwell on it when we can't do anything about it until summer?why not just enjoy what we are getting out of this group of players instead of putting the boot in at every opportunity? Given our squad and the injury problems we've had, we're about where you'd expect us to be at the start of the season. The plan has always been a long term one and we're on track imo.

  39. I think the trait I like most about Engel is that he acknowledges his errors by being annoyed at himself rather than shrugging his shoulders or grinning. To me it shows that he takes it seriously and looks like the sort of person who would say " I stank the place out today, but tomorrow I will bust a gut to make sure I do better". I would rather have someone like that in the team because it is the way that most of the real fans want to see the players act. We seem to have a decent bunch in the squad and I no longer get the feeling that the game is over if we are still a goal down with ten minu

  44. I'm sick as a dog so spent some time watching League 1 footage last night... I know I'll get the "NoT tHe LoWeR lEaGuE!" brigade for this, but as highlighted by recent posts there's some real talent in there at the moment. Obviously not players to build a side around, but signing 2-3 who can push for a place could be a shrewd move and profitable in the long term. Marc Leonard is having an amazing loan at Northampton from Brighton. 5 goals and 6 assists from Midfield, and having just turned 22 you'd imagine he'd jump at the chance to join Boro in the summer.
