  1. Wow just goes to show how mad this league can be. It is mad that all 4 teams still have automatic promotion in their own hands. I do feel the team/teams that fail to go up automatically out of the top 3 will fail in the playoffs.

  2. I haven't heard a lot about him until reading this so I will be ruddy livid if he goes.

It would be nice to see one of these players that are getting the interest from the big clubs to have that breakout in our first team. I think bar Hackney and Coburn to an extent it's been a while since someone has been given a good run in the first team from the academy.

  3. I think Leeds and Leicester will go up automatically. Although would love us to cost Leeds and enable Ipswich to go up. I think Southampton will win the playoffs

On the other hand if Leeds and Leicester do go up, I would love a Norwich Ipswich playoff final if Norwich can overtake West Brom.

Relegationwise I think Rotherham and Huddersfield will go down but hard to call the other team as Sheff Wed keep pulling off results and for some reason can't see Birmingham going down. I'd like Plymouth to stay up but think they might be the unlucky 3rd team.

I think he needs a loan next season, if we're serious about promotion we can't be messing around with players like Silvera even off the bench

Aye you could be right. I think he's just one of those players we gambled on a bit earlier than we normally would. I think he's the sort of player that would have gone to a lower league team like Barlaser and Azaz and we end up signing. I think we got him a bit cheaper signing him when we did although with our expectations being a lot higher (promotion) he hasn't had the luxury of time to settle and more regular game time.

  5. On paper that's a good point. However I think that's both our seasons over. I wonder what impact it has done to Hull who look like they're going to fail to make the playoffs despite big investment.

Good to see Latte Lath carry on his goalscoring form and Azaz getting on the scoresheet. It makes you wonder if Lath had been fit the whole season where we would be now. Likewise with Dieng. Persisting with Glover when he was available also has been costly.

All we have left is the opportunity to have a say in who goes up automatically. It would be nice if we can beat Leeds and cost then the automatic spot.

  6. I think our 2 most important players that need to be fit are Stones and Walker. Obviously we have better players in the team overall but have decent backups in the other areas of the pitch.

I think our front 6 is as good as any right now. If we can get Foden playing the way he is for Man City I can't see past us winning it (assuming Saka and Bellingham maintain their standards).

I think if everyone is fit I'd go.

    Pickford

    Walker Stones Maguire Shaw

    Alexander-Arnold Rice Bellingham

    Saka Kane Foden

The only question marks in that team is Alexander Arnold and possibly Maguire

It's so bizarre, because when you consider Pickford in an England shirt he's never really looked poor or made any costly mistakes (I can remember). But everyone always wants a better option (myself included at times).

I think they said the error last week was the only goal that he has conceded for England that he has directly been responsible for.

  7. The return of Jason Steele as replacement?

I'd be gutted if Dieng went he's arguably been our most successful signing this season. Given how before Steffen we struggled to find a decent replacement for Randolph it would be a backward step in building a realistic promotion challenging team.

We wouldn't have been spending money for the sake of it.  We'd have been spending it to improve the team, and hopefully get better results.

Hence why we didn't sign anyone. There was either nobody available or we could afford that suited the position we wanted. Otherwise we would have signed them.

So the lesson is don't ever go for it then?  🙃

Turn it around and imagine we'd signed a striker in January, and hadn't had the poor run of form we'd been on until recently.  Where might we be now? 🤷‍♂️

Not what I said. However I think there is a huge gamble to go for it when the automatics were more or less written off and playing for 2 playoff places and they weren't in the top 6 when the window closed.

Obviously I'd have loved for us to have identified and signed the striker required however there weren't many of those about in the window. But I'm also glad we didn't spend what money we had for the sake of it.

  10. Unfortunately our own form and consistency on top of the injuries have cost us this season. I think if we won every game for the rest of the season  we would make it but I can't see us managing to achieve that based purely on us this season.

  11. Just looked at the league table. I've been critical of our transfer policy but for some perspective Hull 'went for it' in January and find themselves behind us right now.

  12. Leicester posted some significant losses in their accounts. Personally I would prefer that they don't get a points deduction that keeps them in this league as I feel despite their blip would still be a heavy favourite next season if indeed we are going to 'go for it'.
