  1. Or just maximising the profit 😂
  2. McNair and the club have probably had discussions on what they can offer him post contract, he's either mulling it over until they can officially offer him £x or has said I'm not prepared to stay for that and we know he's on his bike.
  3. I think Rav will decide when he's ready to move on, he seems very single minded about what is best for his career, so I can't see him accepting a big move to sit on the bench etc.
  4. Spending £500k-£1m+ on a development player gets you what we got last year, if we have the funds to buy in £3m+ players who are ahead in their development things move along a lot quicker. I have faith that we have identified appropriate targets, can we get them across the line, I'm unsure, but I hope we do. Edit: we need to buy pace, having only one player who can really stretch the pitch is not good.
  5. This seasons new players, ELL, Silvera etc will all have a full preseason and have now experienced the league, the debt we haven't accrued this year can be used and added to next seasons debt allowance and hopefully we will be shopping a little higher up the market, add in a couple of good free's and you never know. But it can't be worse than the feast and famine performances of this season. Most of the injuries seem to be knock related, it's just been the amount of serious ones we've picked up that have stopped us fielding a more settled side. Here's hoping.
  6. A supernatural being says they are sending you back to 1980. You can’t come back to the present. You can bring 5 things with you. What would you bring? sports almanac, might as well make a few bob, Proof of Blairs lies about WMD. Aids medicine, Let's nip it in the bud. smart phone, global warming evidence There is a button that, when pressed, instantly kills a random person in the world but gives you £10,000. Pressing it again multiplies both numbers by 10. How many times are you willing to press the button? Too risky, it may be you. You find a book and begin to read only t
  7. he's not on loan from Plymouth so I'm saying yes
  8. Dieng Ayling VDB Clarke Engel Barlaser O'Brien Forss Azaz McGree Silveria If everyone is fit, a week to prepare, the win should have lifted the spirits, time to kick on. Unless we continue with a back 5 and push Paddy into MF when in possession
  9. Why not just change the title to the transfer thread and leave it open all year round?
  10. Azaz is further along the development pathway than Rogers, though I believe Rogers has a higher potential ceiling, if they where to both complete their development. The move to Villa will stunt Rogers development at least in the short term.
  11. do wish we'd had the current model in place when we went up in stead of throwing the money away on high priced loans.
  12. 1876-1976 would suggest in the clubs opinion we're still 2 years off 150.
  13. Liverpool's opening goal today was a thing of beauty, born of defensive necessity. Route one is not a swear word neither is it a footballing philosophy I'd encourage, but as @Blanco has stated it is a means to an ends. On another day, just like the first Chelsea game we'd have lost by a country mile, but we didn't so enjoy.
  14. a CM who can break up play and is aware of his defensive responsibilities I think is the wish, Boateng/Kante are creatures of the past.
  15. 10,000 rats 1 hunter (with a rifle) Hunter takes care of the Crocs, Rats delay/attack every thing else until the hunter can get to them. meanwhile we play the Chelsea 541 keep it tight and hope we can nick one.
  16. Thought Ayling looked shot after 50 minutes last night, both goals conceded came about from misplaced passes into a congested midfield, aimed at players in 1 v 2 situations and Preston had obviously worked on this has have other teams.
  17. Without Josh we lack a focal point, he's far from the finished article but this limping him through is doing nobody any good. Sometimes you just need to rip the Band-Aid off, get him properly sorted so he can make a full recovery before pre-season if not sooner.
  18. think the cost of deals is they key, the initial payment is one thing but, if Toney moves in the summer that fee will include the profit made in the sell on etc. Shows how much of a deal they had to give Exeter to get the deal done at that price similar to our deal with City, lower initial cost bigger cut of the sell on.
  19. Has Tree left the building yet, seems to have gone very quiet.

  21. So the muscle injuries are your fault 😄
  22. No way we have them 20% and paid over a mil
  23. Think we shouldn't overlook Howson's influence in the dressing room, with a young and comparatively inexperienced squad the old heads are invaluable in showing players the right way to go about things. I think that by the end preseason Hackney & Barlaser will be our starting pair, subject to them being here and available.
